Motives of fire and blood in Bohuslav Reynek's Thirsts and in Pierre Jean Jouve's Les Noces
Raušerová, Andrea ; Vojvodík, Josef (advisor) ; Hrdlička, Josef (referee)
AN ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE This diploma thesis regards poems of Bohuslav Reynek and Pierre Jean Jouve with a prism of fire and blood motives. The analysis is focused on their early works, i.e. on Bohuslav Reynek's Thirsts and Pierre Jean Jouve's Les Noces. The diploma thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical and the practical ones. The theoretical part gives the view into problematics of blood and fire motives. It is encouraged with several theories, such as literary (Bachelard), psychoanalytic (Jung) and theological (Spidlik). The second chapter of theoretical part sums up already existing perception of the analysed texts, with the main focal point on the motives. This aim fulfils either Med's and Putna's interpretations of Reynek or Pic's and Kelly's interpretations of Jouve. The main part of the diploma thesis is then seen in the analysis of motives itself. The author of the diploma thesis searches for different representations of these motives, e.g. flaming tongues of fire (the symbol of the Holy Spirit), a pierced heart of Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary equally as their mixing, such as flaming heart, bloody sun etc. In the results of this diploma thesis there is summarised the analysis of these topoi - fire and blood and their different realisations in each work of the poets. Their attitude...
Remnant of forest at the transition from Late Glacial period to Holocene: dendroecological and palaeobotanical reconstruction
Moravcová, Alice ; Šamonil, Pavel (advisor) ; Rybníček, Michal (referee)
The remains from a sub-fossil pine forest burried in layers of peat deposits at the northern edge of the CHKO Křivoklátsko in the Central Bohemia is completely unique findings for the area of the Czech Republic. It offers new opportunities for palaeoenvironmental reconstruction and related climate changes during the Late Glacial and early Holocene epoch. The methods of dendrochronology and radiocarbon dating were used to date subfossil trees. The results of radiocarbon dating determined the existence of the forest in the period approximately 12,000 to 10,300 cal yr BP. The dendrochronological analyses revealed two continuous floating chronologies. The chronology RD4, which is long 200 years, originates from the Younger Dryas. The chronology RD6, 300 years long, originates from the Preboreal. The growth dynamics of the forest were reconstructed on the basis of the tree- ring analysis. Hydrological regime has been identified as a major disturbancy factor that influenced the growth of trees. This has been evident from synchronous phase depressions in the growth of synchronized tree-ring series. The high water table was the main cause of their extinction. This was in concordance with the results of macrofossils analyses. The effect of hydrological regime was largely influenced by microsite differences...
Possibilities for the use of fire extinguishing equipment for extinguishing fires
HRNČÍŘ, Miroslav
In my bachelor thesis about the Possibility of usage fixed fire extinguishing systems for extinguishing fires I was mainly interested in the topic of fixed fire extinguishing systems and their usage and also in the problematics of fixed fire extinguishing systems installed and used in the SYNTHOS Kralupy a. s., SYNTHOS PBR s. r. o. and TAMERO INVEST s. r. o. (companies) For this purpose, four fixed fire extinguishing systems were chosen based on the used fire extinguishing agent. According to these criteria were chosen water, foam, powder and gas based fixed fire extinguishing systems, which are described in the thesis with regard to their construction, operation and usage. Chosen fixed fire extinguishing systems were further evaluated regarding their capabilities for extinguishing fire. According to the conducted research current options for fixed fire extinguishing systems are used. Even though current options of usage fixed fire extinguishing systems are used it is possible to improve the usage of them by introducing technical and organizational measures. As a crucial technical measure, there is proposed a technical adjustment of the water based fixed fire extinguishing system. For improving the usage of this fixed fire extinguishing system and increasing the level of fire safety of the guarded object it is proposed to change this non-automatic fixed fire extinguishing system to automatic. Other devices are automatic and the proposed improvements do not have such underlying character as it in case of the evaluated water based fixed fire extinguishing system. In the theoretical part of the thesis there are described terms like fire, burning and conflagration (fire). There are named conditions and possibilities for the origin of fire and its spreading and is described the spreading of conflagration in time and space. Furthermore, the theoretical part of the thesis is concerned about named fixed fire extinguishing systems. There is the history of their use for fighting fire, the overview of fixed fire extinguishing systems based on the used agent and the description on the different kinds of fixed fire extinguishing systems along with the description of the possibilities of their use for fighting fire. In the theoretical part are also mentioned new technologies used in the field of fixed fire extinguishing systems. The conclusion of the thesis is focused on the problematics of operation and operational capability of fixed fire extinguishing systems.
Temperature as Source Sphere of Conceptual Metaphors
Hýsková, Tereza ; Vaňková, Irena (advisor) ; Pacovská, Jasňa (referee)
This thesis is focused on a research of the source domain of temperature and related concepts. It is based on the approaches of American and Polish Cognitive Linguistics. The first part is regarded to the relationship between the concepts of WARMTH / COLD and other basic concepts. The crucial part of the thesis deals with temperature as the source domain in conceptualization of emotions, emotional states and human behaviour. This part includes the description of general phenomenon in the process of mapping from the source domain of temperature to the target domain of emotions. The next chapters are focused on the Czech expressions related to separate emotions which are viewed as the target domains. There are marked the source domains of WARMTH, COLD, HEAT and FIRE in the thesis. These source domains are considered to have different roles and the human corporealness is assumed to be the main reason for the differences.
Studying the behavior of concrete at high temperatures
Čonka, Ladislav ; Sitek,, Libor (referee) ; Bodnárová, Lenka (advisor)
The thesis is focused on the current issues of concrete resistance to high temperatures. The theoretical part has been processed the changes taking place in the individual components of concrete and changes affecting the physical - mechanical properties of concrete and color-changing effects manifesting high. In the experimental part of the load was, carried concrete test samples to a temperature of 400 ° C, 600 ° C and 800 ° C. After the thermal load, has been on test samples tested changes in physico - mechanical properties, especially concrete compressive strength, water absorption but also a visual assessment of the concrete surface
Search for harmony in artistic expression

The aim of this paper is cognition of eastern art feng-shui, selecting specific part and its subsequent putting into practise at Elementary Art School. It deals with "Theory of the five elements", which includes fire, earth, metal, water and wood. The theoretical part describes the theory of feng-shui and short history of eastern art, foundations of art education and different kinds of art creation, mainly spatial and action creation. The practise part is a note of teaching at Elementary Art School and presentation this topic into the school practise.
Smoke and Fire Detection in Video Sequences
Tomek, Peter ; Štancl, Vít (referee) ; Švub, Miroslav (advisor)
This thesis aims to analyse a videosignal given in input and find segments that contains fire or smoke. The problem is divided into two cases-detection of fire and detection of smoke. The first and main step of analysation is detection of segments by Gaussian mixture model that is trained by Expectation-Maximization algorithm, or shortly EM algorithm. For smoke detection is than used method of optical flow. The final segments are than processed by some morphological methods and determination of their position is made. Finally, the output of algorithm is again a videosignal in which segments that probably contains fire or smoke are highlighted.

The Effect on Cause of Fire by Weather Conditions
PETRÁK, Martin
The aim of this work is to assess the possible effects of meteorological conditions on the causes of fires (The Effect of Weather Conditions on Causes of Fire). At present great emphasis is put on the investigation of the causes of fire while detecting human or technical failure or the combination of the two. Meteorological influences are given less importance but in many cases they are the cause of technical failures, although often indirect. Under normal operating conditions, the burning process occurs when three basic conditions meet: there are flammable substances, oxidation and initiatory temperature. The direct cause means the impact of the initial temperature and the indirect cause means affecting the flammable substance or material itself and oxidation. As for the direct effects of meteorological conditions, only fires caused by lightning strikes are evaluated as the direct cause of fires in the statistics of Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic. Based on technical literature and findings of fire examiners from Fire Rescue Service of South Bohemia, we can easily conclude that fires can easily be started by direct sunlight and relatively simple optical elements. Indirect impact of weather conditions means a wide range of specific conditions which may affect flammable substances or oxidizing agents. On one hand there are specific conditions that affect technical and technological ageing and depreciation, such as extreme temperatures, both in summer and winter, rainfall, wind, and so on. On the other hand, weather conditions also affect activities and behaviour of people during the year. The research was based on monitoring the direct and indirect influence of weather conditions on the occurrence of fires in South Bohemia between the years 2009 and 2013. The findings were used to identify possible fire prevention strategies and to make it easier to identify certain weather conditions which may lead to a fire. The facts used in this thesis are based on technical literature monitoring the issue of fire protection, specialized literature from meteorology and climatology of the Czech Republic, Fire Rescue Service statistics and output from real-life fires which mainly occurred on the territory of the South Bohemia region.
