Iranian opposition and blogging-the phenomenon of Citizen journalism in non-free society

The Master's thesis Iranian opposition and blogging - the phenomenon of Citizen journalism in a non-free society is focused on analysis of blogging as an opposition's communication tool within the nondemocratic regimes, contemporary Iran in particular. The research question is How can be the opposition's communication performed by blogging and what are the limitations and possibilities of such communication. The primary hypothesis is that the blogs are not used for direct manangement of opposition's actions, but rather as an alternative space for free expression. Four opposition's blogs written in english are analysed by means of qualitative analysis. The main criteria for selection of blogs were that the blog should be actualised on regular basis, based in Iran or at least written by a native Iranian, and clearly be in favour of the opposition's ideology. Content published between march 2009 and march 2010 was selected for analysis, for it was the period of disputed presidential election and following citizen's unrest in Iran. Our diploma thesis was concerned with language and propaganda in Mladý svět weekly to 1989. The objective of our work was not only a complex text analysis but also analysis of linguistic devices in terms of propaganda. The task was to analyse linguistic devices of selected text corpuses, specifically always of the introductory spread of the first issue in that particular year from 1959 to 1989. The objective was to find those linguistic devices that were being used in propaganda, sort them according to specific linguistic areas, point out myths that the propaganda created and show how propaganda used language to influence the recipient. Our work consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with the overall historical context of censorship functioning in years 1959-1989. Later on, it gives an overview of the young and children's magazines market. In the next chapter, we give general characteristics of propaganda based on specialized publications. One chapter deals with the way the young perceived propaganda. The last chapter involves the language and propaganda, which also draws from specialized publications. Censorship of broadcasting - Czechoslovak broadcasting in the 1950s and 1960s

Synopsis The aim of this diploma paper is to explain and demonstrate censorial practice of the communist regime in the Czechoslovak Radio. The paper demonstrates via narrators' memories the way the transmission in the Czechoslovak Radio was affected after its takeover by the Communist Party in 1948, namely on the part of both the operational technical staff members and editors. Historical experience of narrators is presented in the context of formerly known events amended by published articles or sources including those of radio archive.
Czech press for people called up to forced labour in Nazi

The diploma thesis Czech Press for People Called up to Do Forced Labour in Nazi Germany deals with the weekly Czech Labourer which was sent to the Czech workers called up to German factories during the period of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia within the years 1939-1945. The thesis aims at exploring its origin, publishing and changes concerning its publishers and owners. It also analyses its distribution to Nazi Germany and its content in detail. Furthermore, by means of the quantitative analysis the thesis surveys the thematic agenda of the main articles on the front pages. It discusses the impact of the propagandistic information in media on those who were called up to do forced labour. Within the context, this paper examines the operation of media during the period of Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.

The first part contains a translation analysis based on the model of Christiane Nord, which within intertextual factors includes also a typology of translation problems on several levels. Freedom of Expression and Censorship on the Internet and Social Networks

This thesis is focused on freedom of expression and censorship on the internet and social networks. Its goal is to evaluate current situation of censorship of the internet, to describe the most often used methods of censorship and suppressing free speech, as well as methods of its circumvention. The thesis is focused on the progress of internet censorship in its shift from a tool of governmental domestic network control into a tool in the hands of multinational organizations. Some focus is also given to the importance of anonymity as a way to freedom of speech, and to the analysis of current situation and possible future outcomes. This thesis is divided into five chapters. The first one serves as an introduction into the problematics. Second chapter describes methods of internet censorship, the third one describes its circumvention. The fourth chapter looks into the current situation regarding the role of social media in terms of internet censorship and possible results of censorship as well as future evolvement. Fifth and last chapter is dedicated to research of anonymous parts of internet community that could otherwise face censorship.

The bachelor thesis of Freedom of mass media in Georgia aims to bring a current state of mass media in Georgia. Timeliness and importance of selected topic for thesis is that mass communication and media-are one of the most significant phenomenon of society. It also relevantly influences the development of social relations and actively participates in the process of shaping public opinion. Thesis contains basic characteristics of journalistic activities, its development and impact on society. Further development of mass media in Georgia. The practical part shows the results of research. This research was attended by representatives of Georgian society that provides different views of the state from the point of press' freedom and right of expression. The research was conducted using quantitative and qualitative methods. The result is, that the mass media in Georgia is partly free and is under government influence.

The aim of the thesis Propaganda and Documentary Photography in 1950s in Czechoslovakia is to find out how the communist regime affected public via documentary photography published in its printed media Rudé Právo. The theoretical part explains the terms included in the name of the thesis such us propaganda, documentary photography, 1950s and printed media. The practical part of the thesis uses both of the analyses. The quantitative analysis presents numbers of photographs according to perspectives of time and toppic. The qualitative analysis reveals what the documentary photography contents in connection with Propaganda. Years that are compared are 1950 and 1959.
