Modification of Pivot Tables method for persistent metric indexing
Moško, Juraj ; Skopal, Tomáš (advisor) ; Hoksza, David (referee)
The pivot tables is one of the most effective metric access method optimized for a number of distance computations in similarity search. In this work the new modification of the pivot tables method was proposed that is besides distance computations optimized also for a number of I/O operations. Proposed Clustered pivot tables method is indexing clusters of similar objects that were created by another metric access method - the M-tree. The indexing of clustered objects has a positive effect for searching within indexed database. Whereas the clusters are paged in second memory, page containing such cluster, which do not satisfy particular query, is not accessed in second memory at all. Non-relevant objects, that are out of the query range, are not loaded into memory, what has the effect of decreasing number of I/O operations and total volume of transferred data. The correctness of proposed approach was experimentally proved and experimental results of proposed method was compared to selected metric access methods.
Restoration Information System ResIS comprehensive documentation of the physical condition of rare library holdings
Novotný, Jan ; Bratková, Eva (advisor) ; Marek, Jindřich (referee)
In comprehensive thesis are characterized particular collections of photographic documentation of historical library holdings which were found during the survey of secondary image information. The possibilities of documentation use from different time periods are mentioned during restoration works, conservation surveys and in specific cases of damage or total loss of the original. In detail are described essential factors affecting the quality of image recording and typical types of photographic documentation on so-called surrogates, which are under selective digitization incorporated into the digital archive of Restoration information system ResIS. Other part of thesis is devoted to the methodology of digitizing the photographic documentation on surrogates, which includes the building up archival organizing system. In part of analysis are mentioned the most important metadata formats for the description of historical written monuments and their field of application. The mapping of selected TEI P5 ENRICH metadata elements into the proposed hierarchical structure was solved in order to create new TEI_RESIS format. ResIS system is designed for the complex processing and presentation of documentation focused on physical condition of library holdings, the system is also used by retrospective way....
Plagiarism Identification
Menšík, Jakub ; Dytrych, Jaroslav (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of this work is to design and implement system for plagiarism identification based on a huge dataset.
Information Retrieval in Czech Wikipedia
Balgar, Marek ; Bartík, Vladimír (referee) ; Chmelař, Petr (advisor)
The main task of this Masters Thesis is to understand questions of information retrieval and text classifi cation. The main research is focused on the text data, the semantic dictionaries and especially the knowledges inferred from the Wikipedia. In this thesis is also described implementation of the querying system, which is based on achieved knowledges. Finally properties and possible improvements of the system are talked over.
System for Update of Annotations in Corpora
Vrša, Štěpán ; Smrž, Pavel (referee) ; Dytrych, Jaroslav (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is the creation of a system that allows users to display and update the large corpus data annotations in the MG4J format. This thesis analyzes the current corpus data and annotation management solution and briefly describes the non-trivial SEC and MG4J tools used in the solution. The main element of the system is updating annotations in MG4J and subsequently updating the MG4J indexes. The system is capable of performing the above mentioned operations with an acceptable response time. This thesis also deals with updating entities in a knowledge base.
Sentiment Analysis of Czech Social Networks and Web Discussions on Retail Chains
Bolješik, Michal ; Otrusina, Lubomír (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is to design and implement a system that analyses data from the web mentioning Czech grocery chain stores. Implemented system is able to download such data automatically, perform sentiment analysis of the data, extract locations and chain stores' names from the data and index the data. The system also includes a user interface showing results of the analyses. The first part of the thesis surveys the state of the art in collecting data from web, sentiment analysis and indexing documents. A description of the discussed system's design and its implementation follows. The last part of the thesis evaluates implemented system
Indexing of text documents and their parts
Tomeš, Jiří ; Kopecký, Michal (advisor) ; Grošup, Tomáš (referee)
The thesis describes the design and implementation of an application for processing electronic publications (collections of conference papers, comprehensive manuals, or even classical electronic books) in order to enrich their internal navigation by hyperlinks between their related parts, respectively producing as representative as possible summarizations of given length. Unlike similar applications summarizations can be based not only on the sentences, but on elements of other categories like paragraphs, sections and the like. The main emphasis was put on ease of use, platform independence, and multilingual support. The application provides a flexible environment that can be customized to user's needs.
Satellite data management and analysis
Krška, David ; Lokoč, Jakub (advisor) ; Nečaský, Martin (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to implement and test an interactive application for the analysis, visualization and classification of satellite data. The satellite data are preprocessed and automatically composed into colored images. The application allows to create and compare two types of classification algorithms. The first type uses single images and the second type uses multiple images of the same place, but at different times. We also created an interface for selecting and managing the training data. A few well-known classification algorithms of both types were implemented and their success rates were compared in an experiment. All the satellite data used in the experiment are from the Landsat program. The result of this bachelor thesis is an application primarily focused on classification. But the application could also be extended into a complex GIS system. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

The process of indexing thesis
Obstová, Barbora ; Kovaříková, Klára (advisor) ; Trtíková, Ilona (referee)
(en) This thesis deals with a different approach to indexing from the perspective of the information professionals and the author himself. This verifies different approach based on comparative analysis of theses and dissertations from Charles University. The practical part is based on the processing of theses and dissertations in the Library of Social Science, T. G. Masaryk. With regard to the practical part of the work refers to concepts such as interpretation of the text, vocabulary, and its combinatorial elements. One section discusses the actual process of indexing with respect to content analysis.
