The title of my thesis is "The potential of non-profit organizations in increasing the financial literacy of citizens". The goal of my thesis is to analyze and evaluate the activity of non-profit organizations in increasing the financial literacy of citizens. It is also focusing on the relation between the government, the for-profit and the non-profit sector in the field of financial literacy. I divided my thesis into six chapters. In the first chapter I defined the research problem, set the goals of my thesis and defined the research questions. In the second chapter I focused on the methodology and the definition of my information resources. For the purpose of this thesis I chose the semi-standardized interview, the analysis of participants and the analysis of documents. In the second part of this chapter I made the review of the information resources which I used for this thesis. My thesis is based on the theory of "the triangle" of the market, the government and the civil society, the concept of the social accounting and the benefits and failures of the non-profit sector. First I focused on the government policy in the field of increasing the financial literacy of citizens. I found out that the first steps the government made in this field were done in the year 2005 when the first strategy...

Vltavská, Silvie ; Kotrusová, Miriam (advisor) ; Mouralová, Magdalena (referee)
The diploma work 'Financial education as prevention against over-indebtedness of Czech households' deals with the issue of constantly rising over-indebtedness. In the Czech Republic the number of people who find themselves in financial shortcoming due to over- indebtedness has recently raised. When we compare the Czech Republic with the advanced countries in the European Union, we find out the over-indebtedness is not so high. What is, however, alarming is its dynamics in the recent years. These figures are confirmed with statistic data. The phenomenon of consumer loans started to develop in the late 1990's when the first negative consequences, i.e. social and psychological impact, and distraints, which had not been known so far, appeared for the first time. Mortgages are seen as relatively healthy form of debt because their reimbursement is not as problematic as it is with the consumer loans. Investment into living is considered as long-lasting. There are several possibilities how to cope with debts. One possibility and prevention is financial education the application of which is in the centre of this work, i.e. financial education as the tool for orientation in market environment, part of social work and especially as the prevention itself. The essential part is educational activities and...

This thesis deals with the education of children to economic and financial literacy at school and in family. Financial and economic literacy is one of the most important topics of the present days. It presents a particular suggestion of a lesson structure for students of a primary school. The following part focuses on the possibilities of education in the family which places an irreplaceable role in the procedure of education to economic and financial literacy. The empirical part of this thesis presents the results of two separate researches. The first dealt with the issue of how current teachers explain and train financial literacy in primary schools. The second research focuses on young adults aged 18-26 years and their knowledge of basic economic terms, in the background of a subjective assessment of their family and school.

Analysis of usury legislation
Červenková, Tereza ; Lechner, Tomáš (advisor) ; Jurčík, Radek (referee)
The project analyzes current legislation on usury in the Czech Republic and the financial literacy of the adult population. On 1 Dec. 2016, an amended Act on Consumer Loans entered into force and this project examines it. The project compares Czech legislation on usury with selected European Union countries. Czech legislation is similar with German and Portugal legislation, especially in terms of civil law. The most effective legislation can be considered in Spain, which explicitly stipulates allowed interest rate limits. Based on that, Czech legislation on usury should be adjusted. The research results show a correlation between respondents' highest-achieved level of education and their financial literacy levels. The research also finds that the number of court distraints (property seizures) and the willingness to borrow money is lower among respondents with university-level education than for respondents with secondary and basic school education. When comparing our findings with research by STEM/MARK dating from 2010, it is clear that the financial literacy of the adult population in the Czech Republic has not changed significantly since that time.

Zimermannová, Petra ; Radová, Jarmila (advisor) ; Rajl, Jiří (referee)
This master thesis aims to explore the relationship between financial literacy and probability of saving in private pension schemes in the Czech Republic among citizens older than 50 years. While the first part of this master thesis provides overview of pension systems among the OECD countries with emphasis on the Czech Republic, the second part brings the theoretical background for the financial literacy and for the measurements of financial literacy according to international studies. The last part of this master thesis serves as a practical part of this master thesis. In order to examine the relationship between financial literacy and saving for retirement, we performed a logistic regression. We set the probability of saving in a private pension scheme as a dependent variable and independent variables according to the studied literature. The last part of this master thesis also provides the summary of our conclusions about the importance of financial literacy within the decisions about saving for retirement and also the opinion that the lack of financial literacy was one of the main causes for unsuccessful pension reform in the Czech Republic where the second pillar was cancelled recently.
The development of the crime on credits in the South Bohemia before 2014
BUŠKOVÁ, Tereza
The aim of this study is to analyze the development of committing a credit fraud offence under § 211 of the Act. no. 40/2009 Coll., the Penal Code (particularly the development of this crime and the development of the amount of the damage) and consequent comparing the selected macroeconomic indicators development in the period 2005-2014 in the region of South Bohemia. In this work secondary data analysis methods were used. Statistical data obtained from the South Bohemian branch of the Czech Statistical Office and statistical data from Crime Police of the Czech Republic was used as the source. The data evaluating the amount of detected cases of this crime committed by the offenders in the Region South Bohemia, according to the region where the fraud was commited, was analyzed. The analyzed file was 5,713 offenses and 4,219 offenders. The defined set was divided into seven parts (districts), according to the local jurisdiction of the territorial departments of the Czech Police. The observed data was compared with selected macroeconomic indicators. From the results it can be concluded that the highest rate of loan fraud offence (calculated per 1,000 inhabitants) is in the district Stra-konice. Conversely, the lowest crime in the same period is in the district Jindřichův Hradec. This work also re-vealed that the development of macroeconomic indicators has no effect on the development of this crime. In conclusion, it is recommended to promote economic education at primary and secondary schools, thus improving the financial literacy of the population. Furthermore, we can recommend the consistent use of, the Central Credit Register, which is already available, as well as supporting of changes in the legislation, so that the providers have an obligation to investigate the credit applicants more and make the offenders of this crime discouraged by higher penalties imposed for credit fraud.

Špirka, Jozef ; Ulrich, Milan (advisor) ; Stanislav, Stanislav (referee)
The current period is characterized by consumerism, market economies, easily accessible loans, household indebtedness, depersonalization cash flow due to of electronic payments and visible consequences of the debt trap and subsequent executions while failing to secure funding. Inadequate or only elementary knowledge of financial literacy of young people is a condition that is a risk factor for most skills in the management of their money. The above facts are environments where most may apply sometimes aggressive ways menu disadvantageous loans. In the practical part, I am my task using questionnaires to determine the state of financial literacy and compare the results at several high schools, including the ability to evaluate the orientation of the financial market and resistance risk activity in the financial management of personal finances.
