Neuropeptide Y and food intake regulation
Váchová, Barbora ; Telenský, Petr (referee) ; Nedvídková, Jara (advisor)
Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is a 36-amino acid member of NPY family. Its biosynthesis occurs in the hypothalamus and its expression also in adipose tissue was described in 2007. NPY is an ubiquitous hormone with central and peripheral effects which lead to the maintenance of homeostasis; NPY is also one of the most significant orexigenic hormones. NPY utilizes G-protein coupled receptors Y1, Y2 and Y5 for its food intake regulation; owing to serious side effects of currently used anti-obesity drugs, the ligands of these receptors (Y1R and Y5R antagonists and Y2R agonists) are considered as targeting molecules for a new therapeutic strategy for obesity treatment. This work is focused on the characteristic of NPY as an orexigenic agent and the possibility of using NPY-based drugs for obesity treatment.

How much are the users aware of the risks inflicted by the Internet. How it can influence the life and the relationship of respondents and the impact on their life throughout their life. To gather the data, for this survey, was applied the qualitative research method and the phenomenological access. The methodology triangulation techniques were emphasised. Among the respondents who were asked, were students of the South Bohemian University in České Budějovice. Two techniques were chosen which one of them was structured interview with open questions (2 interviews performed on 10 respondents) and a questionnaire with open questions (20 anonymous questionnaires). This was applied on chat servers. The result for this research shows that using the Internet is mainly the need to communicate and to gain information. Among the respondents? favourite activities were for example watching sitcoms or searching information. The emotions which users feel depend on the activity which they do. The positive ones are dominate to negative ones, but the frequency contradicts with the living emotions. The biggest influence of the Internet on respondents? life is to get information easily, simplified communication and the possibility to meet new people. The relationship which the respondents have towards the Internet is mostly stable. The biggest risk the respondents consider is using the Internet by small children, sharing which result in misuse of data, arranging meeting with strangers, above all on the ground of numerous occurrences of sexual aggressors etc. The cultural activities and prevention of the usage and all risks concerning the Internet should be more pursued in the future. The Internet provided us with the easy access to information, new ways how to meet other people, the knowledge, entertainment, etc. On the other hand it deprives us from spending free time, personal get - togetherness, motivation and loosing the childhood.

Zdrálek, Vít ; Matoušek, Vlastislav (advisor) ; Lucia, Christine Elizabeth (referee) ; Horáková, Hana (referee)
The dissertation is a biographical ethnography of an individual, ordinary musician and Mamelodi township dweller, Lesiba Samuel Kadiaka (*1962) in South Africa. It is based largely on fieldwork totalling more than 12 months conducted in five periods over six years between 2006 and 2011. It examines the possibilities of studying an average (rather than 'leading') musician ethnographically and their implications and consequences for wider ethnomusicological and South African music research. It makes a practical contribution to the wider debate about the relationship between individual, social, and cultural structures, and breaks new ground in its focus on the previously little known music and practices of Mr. Kadiaka's church, the Zion Christian Church. The research consisted mainly of ethnographic observations of various kinds of musical activities in which Mr. L. S. Kadiaka was involved in as a solo musician (songwriter and song singer) and as a member of the ZCC, on the one hand, and of deep interviews over the time span of six years, on the other. It consists of a biographical part dealing with his narratives about childhood in rural Ga-Mphahlele and his later life in Mamelodi township. Iconographic historical sources of a private nature are use too. The second part describes in three large...
