Resumé The Bachelor thesis called The image of Croatia in selected Czech printed periodicals in 1995, deals with the reflection of dailies and weeklies (Rudé právo, Lidové noviny, Týden and Respekt) of events in Croatia within the specified time period. There are also selected moments on the social and cultural spheres of life taken into consideration besides the primarily political or military point of view of the printed material. The aim is especially to assess the degree of objectivity and controversy of the reports which reflected the aforementioned thematic areas in the Czech periodicals. It is also pointed out to the wrong information from tendentiously focusing articles and subsequently correction of fact errors and reinterpretation in terms of author's professional study was made for the sake of historical objectivity.

The diploma thesis Media picture of building the Berlin wall - Rudé právo, The New York Times, The Times addresses the events associated with the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961 and primarily presents the analysis of newspaper articles connected to the Berlin Wall topic. The issue of the Berlin Wall is portrayed before its construction, during the construction and immediately after it. In the "Teoretická východiska" chapter, the concepts used as a basis of the subsequent analysis of selected newspapers are explained. The first part of the thesis presents the historical and political circumstances of the Berlin Wall construction, especially the development of the Cold War between the representatives of East and West. The analysis of the three selected newspaper titles is preceded by a narrative interview with a foreign correspondent from Rudé právo. His statements serve as an illustration of the former Berlin atmosphere. In the analysis of the newspapers Rudé právo, The New York Times and The Times, emphasis is placed on the article contents, presentation style, theme diversity, trends and information value of the presented news. PICTURE OF CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT IN THE USA IN THE CZECH PRINTED MEDIA IN 1956

This bachelor's thesis is trying to explain the way of media reporting about the Civil Rights Movement in the United States of America. It is focused on two important boundary stones: the begining of the movement - bus Boycott in Montgomery in 1956 and its top - the March on Washington in 1963. Martin Luther King, leader of this movement, made there a "I have a dream" speech, which is an object of this Thesis too. These thesis are noticing the connection between the movemet and communism and ask the main question: has this fact influenced media reporting? Three representative newspapers was chosen for this purpose - Rudé právo, Mladá fronta and Lidová demokracie. This study is trying to describe the relation of the United States and Czechoslovakia and find some signs of viewiness or the publicity campain of the czechoslovak press. One full year is analyzed in both cases.
Potsdam Conference and its media image in Czech Period Newspapers

The bachelor thesis "Potsdam conference and its media image in Czech period newspapers" focuses on the way how chosen newspapers, specifically Rudé právo (the official newspaper of Communist Party), Mladá fronta (newspaper of Czechoslovak Union of Youth), Lidová demokracie (official newspaper of Czechoslovak people's party), Svobodné noviny (newspaper of Association of cultural organizations) and Právo lidu (the official newspaper of Czechoslovak social democratic party) informed about the topic of Potsdam conference during the period from june till september 1945. The conference significantly affected post- war reconstruction of the world. The paper focuses mainly on the way how newspapers dealed with the limited information about the meeting and the discussed topics. The paper is also interested in circumstances of the Potsdam conference and its impact on Czechoslovakia.
Flight of First Czechoslovak Spaceman Vladimír Remek and its Reflection in Czech Period Newspapers

The objective of these bachelor thesis is to describe how the three Czechoslovak contemporary periodicals reported about the flight of first Czechoslovak spaceman Vladimir Remek and if the media did use this event for propaganda of communism regime. Thesis focus on posts about cosmonautics and especially Remek's flight in period which covers one week before start of spaceship Sojuz 28 in March 1978, it also covers course of the flight and return of the ship to the Earth. Analysis continues to triumphal return to Czechoslovakia and First of May celebrations, which delegation of cosmonauts attended. Bachelor thesis find out which image the common Czechoslovak citizen has made with chosen contemporary Czechoslovak press and how much was this image different from objective description which I found in books and in special articles. I suppose that mentioned periodicals have to use cosmonaut's flight for propagandist campaign of communist ideology and cooperation between Czechoslovakia and Soviet Union. I tried to discover which instrument media use to accomplish subjective description of events.
Media content analysis of the IV Congress of the Association of Czechoslovak Writers in daily newspapers and culture press

The subject of this bachelor thesis is media content analysis of the IVth Congress of the Association of Czechoslovak Writers, which took place in 1967. Analysed press is: daily newspapers Rudé právo ("The Red Law") and Práce ("The Work") and culture press Literární noviny ("The Literary Newspapers") and Literární listy ("The Literary Pages"). This thesis contains not only the mentions about the IVth congress of writers but also the following events as regards the writers association because it had been tightly connected to this IVth congress. The thesis tries to compare the image created by the analysed media in 1967/1968 with the historic reality. There were two main aims of this thesis. Firstly, to learn if the analysed media reported objectively about the IVth Congress of the Association of Czechoslovak Writers, secondly, to find if there is a difference as concerns the freedom of press between the years 1967 and 1968. During the analysis it became obvious that all those media published incomplete and vague news about the IVth congress until the end of the year 1967. Federalization of Czechoslovakia in 1968 and its reflection in Czech and Slovak daily press

Thesis "Federalization of Czechoslovakia in 1968 and its reflection in Czech and Slovak daily press" deals with the way selected Czech and Slovak newspapers reflected preparations and enactment of "Czechoslovak federation Act". Thesis is composed of four parts. The first describes history and evolution of relations between Czechs and Slovaks: foundation of their common state, creation of separate Slovak state, reconstruction of the republic after Second World War and later events. It explains why federalization was so important topic for Slovaks in 1968. The second part explores the situation of media in Czechoslovakia in 1968, when the censorship was banned during liberalization process of "Prague Spring". However, this process was cut off by the invasion of members of Warsaw Pact to the country. The third part is concerned with "Czechoslovak federation Act" itself, frames this important amendment of "Socialist" constitution from 1960 in Czech constitutional history. The fourth part reviews the way how Czech (Rudé právo, Svobodné slovo, Lidová demokracie) and Slovak newspapers (Pravda, Hlas ľudu, Smer) reflected federalization in selected time periods of 1968 and 1969.
The media image of Prague underground in the contemporary press 1974-1990

Bachelor thesis "The media image of Prague underground in the contemporary press during the period 1974-1990" deals with presenting underground railway by daily press during the normalization and shortly after the velvet revolution in 1989. The author have chosen Lidová demokracie, Mladá fronta, Rudé právo a Večerní Praha as the sources. The thesis is focused on years 1974, 1978 and 1985 - during these years the underground line C, A and B were opened - and 1990, when the line A was prolonged. The thesis also describes the history of the underground in Czechoslovakia and interprets the contemporary and political context.

The main objective of the diploma thesis is The Media image of the World Cogress of Women in Pragie in 1981 in chosen contemporary press. Women from 133 countries went, in the period from 8 to 13 October 1981, to the Palace of Culture in Prague to discuss equality and peace, descended on the event hosted by the Women's International Democratic Federation. The World Cogress of Women was seen as one of the most important political events of the year 1981 by the Eastern bloc countries. Grasping the topic to handle an event about which no literature after 1989, which would address it, thes describe the media scene, analyze access to press coverage of the event and last but not least, to characterize the status and role of women in 1981, as presented by media. This thesis aids to bring this historical event from a historical perpective of selected dailies and magazine and bring in-depth study of the topic.
