Elzeviro as an inseparable part of the Corriere della Sera
Švarcová, Magdaléna ; Špaček, Jiří (referee) ; Štichauer, Pavel (advisor)
Elzeviro is a unique Italian genre, not easily classifiable for its particular position in between journalism and literature. For more than one hundred years, elzeviro has made its appearance on the Terza pagina (the "Third page"), the culture page, and another typically Italian phenomenon. The "Third page" with its elzeviro was once an inseparable part of all major Italian newspapers. In the past century, elzeviro saw its boom and full bloom in the twenties and in the thirties mostly due to a number of famous Italian authors who regularly contributed with their elzeviroes to this culture page. Among all, let's mention Emilio Cecchi, according to some critics the best elzevirist ever. After the WWII, mainly in the sixties and in the seventies, elzeviro starts to loose a considerable number of readers; the variety of topics discussed within elzeviro gets rapidly thinner till it reduces itself only to literature. In these days, the Terza pagina and elzeviro are still comprised within the culture section of the Corriere della Sera, the most widespread Italian newspaper. The modern elzeviro deals exclusively with literature. It is difficult to find an adequate definition for elzeviro. Originally, the topics were not restricted only to literature; they were of a much vaster variety ranging from history,...

Origin, evolution and essence of the Puppet Guignol in French theatre and its contemporary adaptation
Lamperová, Zuzana ; Pohorský, Aleš (referee) ; Voldřichová - Beránková, Eva (advisor)
Guignol, a French puppet born in the early nineteenth century in the hands of Laurent Mourguet, a silk weaver often unemployed during the Revolution, celebrates in 2008 his bicentenary. Accompanied by his wife, cantankerous Madelon, and his best friend, drunkard Gnafron, improvising commentaries to the news of the day, he became very popular all over the France. Unlike his colleagues of Commedia dell'Arte, he was close to the daily lives of his working-class audience. In contrast to other regional puppets, Guignol still appears regularly on stages of French theatres. In my study, I have first explained the origine and the evolution of the Guignol theatre. I have as well tried to show the identity and the behaviour of the Lyon most famous puppet, in one of the traditional pieces, Le Déménagement (Moving). Guignol appears to be here a poor, unhappy and unemployed silk weaver, who will lose his apartment, if he does not pay the rent to his landlord. Anyway, he does not surrender, and tries to keep the right to live in his flat by words, and when this does not help, by beating the authorities. Guignol's show is a comedy, but it also has a social message. There are a few publications regarding Guignols history, but none of them shows Guignol in the context of the other puppets in French modern theatre. That is...

LE THÉÂTRE DU GRAND-GUIGNOL: PHENOMENON OF THE THEATRE AND HIS DRAMATURGY
Kebrtová, Helena ; NEUMANN, Julius (advisor) ; JOBERTOVÁ, Daniela (referee)
This BA thesis presents the French popular theatre Grand-Guignol and brings a basic vue of its dramaturgy. It treats mainly the questions of actual use of the Grand-Guignol?s plays material. The first part of the work is dedicated to history and definition of characteristics of Grand-Guignol genre. Then it presents fifty five synopses of plays from the Grand-Guignol repertoire, and the treatment of themes and commentaries about individual texts. It proposes some ideas about how to revive Grand-Guignol today. Theatre of Grand-Guignol was founded in 1897 by Oscar M?ernier as a naturalistic theatre that strived to defend the liberty of art. In the age before the First World War, Grand-Guignol developed into a theatre of horror and this dramaturgical orientation didn?t change until the demise of Grand-Guignol in 1962. Grand-Guignol?s golden age was in 1920?s. At the same time, Grand-Guignol is the name of genre; we can also call Grand-Guignol some plays that were not presented at the theatre of Grand- Guignol. What is typical for the genre is the short form, a plot with a crime ? usually murder, the violence linked to eroticism and realism that need major tricks and/or effects. The spectator was expected to confuse fiction with reality Demanding nature of actors? work, topical and adventurous character of exploring the themes of the day and high quality of writing is what puts Grand- Guignol above the average popular theatre of the time. Many of the plays of Grand-Guignol can work even with today?s audiences. Though this genre is not often staged, it could be theatrically successful. The author of the work is convinced that it would be useful to revive the legacy of Grand-Guignol, at least by way of a project in which different ways of producing the texts could be examined.

My intention to devote oneself to write about prosaic writing by Ljudmila Ulickaja arose, when I wrote her fiction Meoea u ee oemu. Although following books are much worse, I am convinced, that Ljudmila Ulickaj a has got a original voice in the russian literature these days, and it costs to speak about her. A historical view of the army nurse profession.
PAVLÍKOVÁ, Andrea
The thesis deals with the profession of a military nurse. We can assert that the official study of military, non-medical health-care related qualifications and its use in practice not only for military purposes dates back to the fifties of the last century. However, women as health care professionals, consequently in uniforms, have always been an actual issue. The development of health care activities always existed, however, we must not neglect influence of scientific and medical findings. The historical timeline of development of medical care in the battle field was recorded and ranges from pre-historical healing. The way of Christian medicine was negatively influenced by the Catholic Church. The dark period of the Middle Ages had actually wrested medical performance from the hands of specialists and the suffering were left to the "tender" mercies of the priests. The following part of the thesis concerns modern medicine where enlightenment reforms were exercised. Some of the original six-month courses for military surgeons were organised in this period of time; they weretransformed into Military Surgical Academy, out of which the famous Josefinum originated. A expression of humanity which supported a form of health care of war veterans was demonstrated by constructing buildings for invalid people. The second half of the nineteenth century is characterized by the phenomenon of the presence of nuns in military hospitals. This study goes further in depth of professionally organized healthcare right in the battle field, which dates back from the era of wars in the Crimea. This stage describes the transformation of caring into nursing which requires the necessity of specialized preparation of persons providing nursing practice. In addition, Henry Dunant engraved himself into the history of the profession of a nurse, as the founder of the Red Cross, who first trained health care professionals for working within armed intentions of the state. The continuation of this action sketches out the process of providing first aid in principal armed conflicts of the twentieth century. It describes the functioning of commander operated military health service of that time. WWI drove Czech medical staff to both sides of the front where they provided medical help to the injured. Nurses of the WWII already performed their duties in uniforms as the rightful members of the army. The thesis also mentions post-war usage of military health care professionals in secret foreign missions and their specialized erudition.Last but not least, it marginally discusses contemporary possibilities of modern health care service of the Army of the Czech Republic. The goal of the endeavours of writing this thesis was to chart out clearly the development of the profession of a military nurse within the historical context, focusing mainly on women coming from Czech regions. In order to make the history background concerning specific female participants of the world war conflicts understandable to the reader, this paper reports, in broader extension, peculiar medical and nursing findings, already from the era of prehistoric civilisations. The history study method were applied for the purpose of the theoretical thesis. The methodology is based on searching, studying, sorting and the consecutive systematic objective describing of the events from the past times with the intention to propose comprehensive report on the subject given. It was necessary to study inexhaustible amount of sources to obtain awareness of historical connections. Factual information was derived by analysing of primary and mainly secondary documents. The thesis sketches out histories of military health care and the profession of a military health care professional stemmed from the exploration of appropriate written sources and conclusion of the basic findings. The intentions of the work are not only to clarify the past but also to contribute to solutions of every-day issues.
