The aim of this thesis is to translate an essay Musician's Magazines in the 1980s: The Creation of a Community and a Consumer Market by Paul Théberge and to comment on the translation. The commentary is divided into four parts. The first part analyses the text, the second part describes the translation method that has been selected, the third part focusses on the translation problems and finally, the fourth part discusses translation shifts. An annotated translation of selected chapters from the history of the mexican gastronomy

This bachelor thesis is divided into two parts: the practical part and the theoretical part. The practical part consists of the translation of the book De chile, de dulce y de manteca edited by Karla Paola Vázquez from Spanish to Czech. The book was published in the 2007 by the Otras Inquisiciones publisher and was made part of the reader's collection of non-fiction texts released by the magazine Algarabía. The topic of the book is the origin of mexican dining, mexican national traditions, favourite meals and drinks and oral proverbs, sayings and history related to gastronomy. The theoretical part consists of the translation analysis of the original text that takes as the model the methodology by Christiane Nord, the method of translating, the analysis of the problems created during the process of translating and their solution and is finally concluded with the bibliography.

The present bachelor thesis comprises of two main parts - the translation from Spanish to Czech and the commentary on the translation. The source texts are selected chapters from the book 20 nuevos directores del cine español by Carlos Hereder, which are composed as biographical summaries of the directors' lives and their work. The commentary consists of the analysis of the source text, description of the selected method of translation, typology of translation problems and shifts which occurred during the translation process. The core of this bachelor's thesis is a translation of an extract from the book A History of Modern Britain by the British journalist Andrew Marr. The first part of this thesis consists of the translated text. The selected chapters are dealing with the situation in Britain at the turn of the millennium and the last years of the New Labour government. The second part consists of a commentary of the translation. There is an analysis of the original text in terms of the extratextual and intratextual factors, then typology of translation problems with examples of solutions, a summary of translation shifts and a description of the translation method.

This bachelor thesis consists of two parts: practical and theoretical. The practical part consists of the translation of the introduction and a few chapters from Parques nacionales iberoamericanos II from Spanish to Czech. The book, written by the Spanish author Luis Blas Aritio, follows the first volume from the two-volume series called Parques nacionales iberoamericanos and presents to the reader the natural, and partially also the cultural, wealth of Iberian America through an enumeration and description of the most significant and the most representative national parks that were founded until the end of 1980s. The second, theoretical part of this thesis consists of a translation-oriented text analysis based on Christiane Nord's model, a chapter on the method of translation, a commentary on the translation problems and their solutions and a typology of shifts in the translation.
