The Swimming cetrum Brno Zidenice

The main theme of this project is a concept of the Swimming centrer in Brno—Židenice. The plot in question is extremely complex. It is located on the edge of a hillside near the Health center at Viniční, which naturally dominates the area by the shape and size of its structure. The underlying idea was to use orthogonal shapes to create a building, that would not compete with the Health center but would add up to its surroundings instead. Every single part of the project was designed to delicately fit into given terrain and surroundings. Most of the functions of the building are set on the 1st floor (e.g. locker rooms, two bars, water world and wellness). The 1st underground floor features technical services rooms. On the 2nd floor, there is only a swimming pool and a terrace with whirlpools on one part of the roof. The roof top offers an excellent view on the city of Brno. South and west facades of the pool hall are made completely out of glass. It is covered by vertical curved aluminum lamellar system. That is because of the thermal technical requirements of the building, however, it is also a dynamic piece of the facade that adds up to aesthetic finish of the building. The construction is based on a combined system of monolithic reinforced concrete columns and walls and glue laminated timber beams and frames. The roofs are compact and green. In the part above the locker rooms is intense green roof planted intensively green fully-grown greenery.

Roman spa and sauna world

The building of Roman Baths and sauna world forms, along with a formerly-designed waterpark, a stand-alone recreational and sports compound in the vicinity of “Růžena's” quarry and the former “Hády” quarry in Brno. The mass of the object is nearly cubic, and in the cross direction it is complemented with an external atrium, with swimming pools situated next to the central glass-fronted part of the object. This bright space functions as a place of relaxation and offers a view of the city of Brno. The view and solar energy have been used in the south-western part as well, where a two-floor glass front has been designed. On the facades of the object there are narrow vertical windows which create an effect of dripping water. The primary architectonic plan has been to create an object offering relaxation, originated in the principles and traditions of Ancient Roman bathing, complemented with a sauna world and further related relaxation establishments.

Water park Brno

The subject matter of the assigned project is Aquapark Brno – located near Lužánky. The subject is an architectural study elaboration of an aquapark adjoining the current swimming pool building which was established in 1979. This building facility is used primarily by professional swimmers and sportsmen for it contains the only 50 meters long swimming pool with a tribune in Brno. The aim of the project is to create new areas and pools for visitors with recreational intentions and therefore to widen the possibilities for free time activities. The project also deals with restoration of a 16 meters long training pool in the existing building, creation of inner and outer aquapark areas and adding exercise and dance halls as an extension to the existing fitness center. Another goal of this project was to make the pedestrian access to the area more pleasant which is achieved by creating an underground parking space in the area of the existing building’s frontal space and also by designing a footpath leading from the remote side of the excessively frequented Sportovní street. The primary aim of the project is an operational connection of the existing and the new building by a central building and also preventing an eclipse of the area by integrating the building in the area’s hillside. The advantage of the project is the presence of relaxation facilities and sports areas. The project completes the sporting environment of the area which makes it an attractive locality for a family recreation.

Old - new urban spa

The object of the town's spa is currently abandoned without use, in a pitiful state. As a monument registered in the central list, it is a testimony to the modern architecture of the 20th century and is among the most famous works of the prominent architect Bohuslav Fuchs. It was built in 1930 as the winning design in the competition for new city baths. After its opening, the inhabitants of Zábrdovice and others enjoyed a pleasant and clean environment for relaxation and balneology, at a time when the backyard households were rather rarity and the prize of richer layers. For Zábrdovice as the marginal industrial part of Brno, full of robot dwellings, the Fuchs Bath facility was an attractive opportunity for rest and recreation. The operation consists of two parts - summer baths with outdoor swimming pools and facilities in the eastern wing of the building and winter baths with saunas and small pools, which in their disposition unit offered bath-room areas accessible from the central corridor. For today's society, the importance of such a city-spa operation has disappeared and the inhabitants are rather relaxed in extensive spa complexes, saunas, and so on. The main objective of the proposal is to restore the whole area and to create an attractive environment that will correspond to the current running of the city and the needs of its inhabitants, while maintaining the function of the summer spa, which still serves to revitalize it. The new use of city spas primarily builds on the original purpose of the building and also respects the needs of the city and Zábrdovice. At the present time, there is a considerable lack of opportunities for sports, recreation and cultural activities. The main objective of the proposal is to restore the whole area and to create an attractive environment that will correspond to the current running of the city and the needs of its inhabitants, while maintaining the function of the summer spa, which still serves to revitalize it. The new use of the city spa primarily involves the original purpose of the building and also respects the needs of the town and Zábrdovice. At the present time, there is a considerable lack of opportunities for sports, recreation and cultural activities. The most prominent point of the project is the design of a covered swimming pool, which corresponds to the current needs of the city and at the same time creates space for the operation of the winter baths, which is thus moved from the main building and no longer bothers the building. The new building of the swimming pool composes the construction of the complex, smoothly and not disturbing it. Its construction system is based on existing structural axes, as well as the division of facades and interior dispositions. The mass and shape of the new building respects the original functionalist architecture, but it also adds to the fresh modern touch. The aim is to aesthetically make a stay in the area aesthetically pleasing. Likewise, the material solution strives to create a fine contrast between old and new on the one hand and material harmony of the entire architectural composition on the other.

Analysis of Suitable Valuation Methods for the Communal Swimming Pool in Senica

The main goal of this thesis is to analyze appropriate methods and approaches that lead to valuation of a sports complex, specifically the public swimming pool complex in Senica before and after reconstruction. The aim is to estimate the expenses that are related to running the place and to analyze its possible revenue. The object´s price is based on the up-to-date valuation acts. To perform the valuation, it was necessary to acquire the corresponding technical and economic documentation. Based on these documents, there is a visible technical upgrade, which is due to a reconstruction. The object is owned and managed by the town of Senica.

Air conditioning of aquapark

The bachelor thesis deals with the design of a ventilation system for an aquapark. Specifically, we deal with only a part of the building: the swimming pool halls including adjoining areas (background). The ventilation system provides forced ventilation in the building's premises and adjusts the air supply to ensure the required temperature and humidity of the indoor climate. The theoretical part deals with moisture and problems with disinfection (trichloramine).

Sports and Leisure Centre Brno

The theme of the dissertation titled the Centre of Sport and Leisure Time in Brno is a design of a relaxing and sport site „Centrum Lužánky“. The subject of this project is architectonic-city-planning study, which deals with elaborating a concept of a sport centre behind Lužánky in Brno-Ponava. This dissertation contains details of the facility and the area of the current swimming pool Lužánky. The current state of the facility built in 1979 doesn’t meet requirements of visitors and sportsmen anymore. The main aim of this project is the reconstruction of the current fifty-meter swimming pool, a design of a new swimming pool placed under the ground floor of the current building, which will provide space for organizing international competitions, trainings of professional sportsmen, etc. At the same time the busyness of the current swimming pools would be lowered by building a new indoor and outdoor waterpark, especially for the group of recreational visitors. The attractiveness of the facility will be increased by the newly designed park relaxing area and proposed multipurpose area, used as a sports field in the summer and as an ice ring in the winter. Additional value of the facility is comprised by an indoor and outdoor café and large relaxing area on the roof of the waterpark. The whole area increases the community facility availability by a proposed wide range of services for health, relax and sport. The advantage of the whole concept is the mutual connection of all facilities. The entrance to the area is shortened by a designed pedestrian bridge, accessible from the south and north busy areas. The whole project is enhanced by increased number of new parking places, located particularly along the access road, the street Sportovní, going through a green zone. Swimming pool in Přelouč

This thesis describes the design of a swimming pool in Přelouč. This is a two-storey building with partial basement. Part of the building is covered with a flat roof and a swimming pool hall is roofed by wooden truss system. There is fitness center, fast-food restaurant, swimming pool with all accessories and technical support.

The Municipal Baths

Designed construction of a spa with the wellness center programs (relaxation type), for 200-250 people (at one moment) at Brno city, near Voronez Hotel and Exhibition Centre. The five-floor spa building is designed as a puzzle in the shape originating from a dice. Cycles of water in its various forms and states of matter or properties fade into one another here. Each floor is designed to have its own theme (water world, the Asian world, aroma floor, salt floor, sunny and airy bath) and offers various types of premises and procedures: swimming, relaxing in the water, baths, showers, steam rooms, saunas, infrared saunas, wraps and massages etc. The spa program is accompanied by various types of refreshments: cafe, bar, tearoom, fruit bar. Rooftop pool and bar offers a unique view on the city. The spa and hotel Voronež parking is carried out within the ground floor.

Old - new urban spa

The main subject of this bachelor thesis was the reconstruction of the Public Spa by architect Bohuslav Fuchs. The solved object and territory is located in a built up area of the Brno-Zábrdovice district. In the framework of the bachelor's thesis there were elaborated studies of the restoration of the area and building of the Public Spa as well as an urban study for the adjacent area - the area of Zbrojovka Brno.
