Effect of reducing the three-month program of physical activity on body composition and weight change.
Dyrcová, Martina ; Matoulek, Martin (advisor) ; Vilikus, Zdeněk (referee)
The thesis is dealing with the effect of the three-month reduction program with physical activity on body composition and changes in body weight of each participant in the program. To reduce weight and reach health benefit means especially to reduce single components of body fat. The goal was to find out what changes in body composition and body weight have been done, analyze it and evaluate the success rate of this program. The three month reduction programmes took place in a recondition centre VŠTJ Medicina Praha, o.s. The results of the research were compared and evaluated on the basis of input and output measuring by a bioimpedance device InBody. The evaluated components were: body weight, BMI, waistline, muscle mass, lean body mass, total body water and the amount of work-out hours in the recondition centre. Program duration was also considered. From the total number of 60 participants (11 men and 49 women), 42 successfully finished the program (7 men and 35 women). Statistically significant differences have been found in the input and output of body weight, BMI, waistline and amount of body fat. Each mentioned parameter has been decreased. The other parameters have not been significantly changed. The effectiveness of the three month reduction program is noticeable especially in increasing...

Sehnalová, Lucie ; Kovařík, Miroslav (advisor) ; Hronek, Miloslav (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biological and Medical Sciences Student: Lucie Sehnalová Supervisor of master thesis: PharmDr. Miroslav Kovařík Ph.D. Title of master thesis: Determination of body composition by bioelectrical impedance method in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the top leading causes of death and its morbidity and mortality worldwide is still increasing. Besides the respiratory symptoms there are often developed alterations in metabolism and body composition in COPD patients. Clinically important are mainly malnutrition and skeletal muscle protein loss. Especially if the respiratory muscles are affected, the lung function is negatively influenced. The main aim of this study was to compare the body composition between 15 patients with COPD 3rd and 4th stage and 9 patients of control group without respiratory impairment and comparable anthropometric characteristics (age, body height and weight). By means of bioelectrical impedance analysis we determined the composition of main body compartments. In patients with COPD was the mean amount of lean tissue of body weight (rel LTM) 47.2 ± 8.4 %, amount of fat mass (rel Fat) 37.8 ± 6.4 % and mean overhydration (OH) 0.31...

Provázek, Pavel ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Musálek, Martin (referee)
Title: Evaluation of body composition analysis using anthropometric measurements and methods based on bioimpedance Aims: The main goal of this study is to analyze correlations of the data from bioimpedance with direct anthropometric measurements using statistical data analysis taking into consideration that the latter data is recognized as a gold standard. Methods: The sample of 42 men and 20 women was evaluated using standard anthropometric techniques. In addition, the dimensions, which are necessary to establish the weight of segments in upper and lower arms. The obtained data was firstly evaluated using a universal software ANTROPO. The both samples were concurrently investigated using the bioimpedance methods and the relationships between the aforementioned data and data from InBody was evaluated by three independent statistical methods such as substantive significance (Cohen's d), two-parameter linear regression and robust Passing- Bablok regression. Results: The results obtained enable to conclude that (with the exception of body height and BMI) the remaining parameters do not sufficiently correlate when using anthropometric measurements and data from InBody. As the relatively low number of participants may result in certain misrepresentation of the results, particularly in women, the...
Low-carbohydrate diets and their effect on body composition and sports performance
Kysel, Pavel ; Jandová, Soňa (referee)
The effect of low-carbohydrate diets on physical fitness is still controversial. The goal of low-carbohydrate diets is to minimize the effects on sports performance by restricting carbohydrates, while optimizing body composition by reducing subcutaneous fat while maintaining maximum muscle mass. The aim of this work is to search the current literature and scientific studies, and to determine the effect of low-carbohydrate and therefore ketogenic diets on body composition and sports performance of various types. Partial tasks are then to define the circumstances that are related to the main goal, or are derived from it, i.e. individual motor skills, including their development and circumstances leading to the influence of sports performance, as well as the area of the individual's body composition and the obvious circumstances of food intake. An essential part is the most up-to-date reference and covering the main differences of low- carb diets in their entirety. The results are mixed, however, in endurance athletes, the body adapts to a fat-rich diet after about a week, and in general, oxidation of fats provides enough energy in the form of intramuscular triacylglycerols or free fatty acids in plasma. Theoretically, this should lead to the investigation of muscle glycogen, as the most valuable...
Analýza vlivu dietárního opatření a fyzické aktivity na změnu složení tělesné konstituce u vybrané populační skupiny
Burková, Martina
This diploma thesis deals with the analysis of the impact of dietary measures and physical activities on the changes of the body constitution of two participants after participating in a weight loss course. Theoretical part describes energetic intake including metabolism of macronutrient, energy expenditure and the ways of identifying nutrient needs. Methods that are used for identifying physical characteristics and body constitution are also defined. This thesis addresses to obesity in general, its causes, complications and the treatment. Practical part centred at the analysis of changes of physical constitution of two participants who took the weight loss course which took 12 weeks. We evaluated changes of physical constitution, body fat, the active body mass and girths at the beginning and at the end of the course. Parameters are confronted with the changes of person´s body mass index. The attention is also aimed at the physical activity, transitions of energy intake and essential nutrients intake at the beginning and at the end of the course. Outcomes are statistically and graphically processed.

Title: Specific exercise program (HIIT) and its influence on body composition in men and women. Objective: The main objective of the study was to analyze changes of body composition in men and women, who completed a three-month exercise program. Methods: The work has the character of an empirical research, where the main method is observation. At the beginning of the research, the group consisted of 15 men and 15 women. The research was completed by 11 men and 11 women. The observed group were attending lessons based on HIIT method in fitness center Balance Club Brumlovka. For the input and output data (body height, body weight and parametres of body composition) were used a digital altimeter and bioelectrical impedance InBody 770. The resulting values were assessed using a paired t-test (statistical significance) and Cohen-d (substantive significance). Results: The result of the study is that during the specific three-month exercise program occured differences in anthropometric parameters (body weight) and parameters of body composition. The most significant differences in both men and women were the decrease of average weight (kg), the decrease of total body fat (%) and the increase of total body water (%) and fat free mass (kg). Key words: Anthropometry, body composition, bioelectric impedance,...

The values of VO2max measured before and after the intervention were used for the evaluation of aerobic fitness. The regression equation, based on the results of 2 km walking test (part of the UNIFITTEST 6-60), was used for the calculation of VO2max. The methods of bioimpedance (using the portable device Body stat 1500) and anthropometric measurement (body high, weight, circuits) were used for determination of body composition - mainly % FFM and% BF. The physical intervention itself was focused on walking for two months period. The form was used for monitoring of intervention individual exercise units. The group of middle-aged women performed the prescribed...
Analysis of changes in the composition of body in the group of men between ages 25 and 35 during the conditioning program
KOŇAŘÍK, Jan
The theme of this thesis is the Analysis of changes in the composition of the body in the group of men between ages 25 and 35 during the conditioning program. In this thesis I measured the physical proportions (like the amount of water and fat in the human body) of people following a fitness programme, focusing on the development of phasic fibers of sceletal muscles. The fitness programme was visited by a group of 15 clients, women and men. The clients were beginners but also advanced excersisers, this is why the excersise choises were an important atribute of the training unit. I chose excersises that were fun and demanding for all the clients. I chose excersises for muscle strenghtenining, stretching and relaxing and for ideal muscle function and development. The next goal of this thesis was to lower the percentage of fat tissue in the body and improve the psychological condition of the excersisers. I collected the data via Inbody 230, before and after the conditioning fitness programme. The theoretical part of this thesis is focused on the body analysis, lifestyle and its forms, obesity and its risks, forms and treatment options, training and forms of training and also developmental psychology. In the practical part of the thesis I focus on my research and the results of 10 clients that took part in the fitness programme.
