The Confession in the Protestantism and its Historical Transformations

anglicky Annotation In my thesis I deal with the Confession in European nad especially Czech Protestantism, its conception, form and transformations in history. The focus of my work is to look at the Confession in the Reformation and its further development. The work is divided into four major chapters: (1) The Confession, (2) The Confession and reformers, (3) The Cofession and reformist religions, (4) The Confession of contemporary Protestantism. Each of these chapters is further divided into subsections. In conclusion I describe the effort to reintroduce private Confession as solid form of church life and I think about reasons why nowadays in Protestant churches private Confession used only sporadically. Literature in the works of theologians - the example of Karl Barth and Rudolf Bultmann

The aim of the proposed Bachelor thesis named Literature in the works of theologians - the example of Karl Barth and Rudolf Bultmann is to assess the significance of German literature in selected works of the aforementioned theologians. In the case of Karl Barth's, the analysis is concerned with the reception of classical German authors (Römerbrief, 1919) and Dostoevsky (Römerbrief, 1922). A separate part is devoted to examining the relevant excerpts from his correspondence with the German writer Carl Zuckmayer towards the end of the theologian's life. In Rudolf Bultmann's cas, the attention is pointed at broader hermeneutic contexts, especially at the relations of culture and religion after the World War I, and Bultmann's reaction to Deschner's criticism of the role of religion from the end of the 1950s, Furthermore, an analysis of a selection of homilies form after the World War I is included, along with a brief characterization the specifics of this particular discourse. In the Name of Christ-Selected Thoughts of the Members of the Lesser Czech Evangelical Churches in the Period 1890-1940

The work focuses on the specification of the specificities of the thinking of some smaller evangelical churches in the territory of Bohemia in the period 1890-1940. Specifically, this is the Brethren Unity of Chelčický (Baptist), the Unity of Czech Brethren (formerly Reformed Free Church) and the Evangelical Methodist Church. The focus of the interpretation is to introduce the construction of confessional identity based on the relationship to the past and the specific interpretation of the personalities and events that shaped the tradition from which these churches were based. Another element forming the identity of the members of these churches was their attitude to the modern secularization tendencies against which they stood in opposition. Last but not least, their confessional consciousness determined their definition of other forms of piety. The aim of the work was to provide, based on the study of the published written sources left by the members of these three churches, a comparison and characterization of their way of viewing certain subjects through their religious beliefs.

The Legal Order of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren - History and Present

The Legal Order of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren - History and Present The aim of this thesis is to gather available sources concerning the legal order of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren (ECCB) since its establishment in 1918 to the present day. The sources used address the legal history of the Protestant Church in Cisleithania from 1848 until the end of World War I. A critical analysis of the sources is carried out to document the development of the church constitution and the orders of the ECCB. The criteria for the elaboration of individual storylines are primarily the historical relevance and the practical applicability of the information regarding the ECCB Strategic Plan of 2019. The thesis consists of an introduction, followed by three parts, and a conclusion. The first part, (1848-1922), comprises four chapters covering the legal history of the Protestant Church in Cisleithania from the revolutionary years 1848/1849 until the dissolution of Austria-Hungary and the establishment of both Czechoslovakia and the ECCB. Czech Leuenberg Synod

Czech Leuenberg Synod The thesis deals with the Czech Leuenberg Synod, an ecumenical assembly of denominations that signed the Leuenberg Agreement (Church of the Brethren in the Czech Republic, Czechoslovak Hussite Church, Church of Czech Brethren, Methodist Church, Silesian Church of the Augsburg Confession). The Synod was formed in 2000. The meetings of the Synod take place every other year and each denomination is represented by four delegates. The first chapter introduces the historical and theological importance of the Leuenberg Agreement as the basic document of the Synod. The second chapter deals with the first meeting in 2000, its statutes and the documents approved on this meeting. The third chapter describes the following meetings and focuses on the topic of each meeting, important documents and/or decisions of the Synod. This chapter includes also the names of the Synod presidents and vice-presidents. The fourth chapter is a reflection of the twenty years of the existence of the Synod and it introduces several suggestions for the future work. Benediktines in Bohemia 1419-1620. Selected Monasteries.

The thesis focuses on the history of several Czech benedictine monasteries in the period marked by two major milestones in Czech history, them being the outbreak of the Hussite Revolution and the Battle of White Mountain. It aims to juxtapose monasteries abandoned in the post-Hussite era with the ones that had undergone restoration and remained active during the above mentioned period. Apart from trying to put together an overall outline of the convents' history, the thesis also addresses select problems the abbots of the restored monasteries had to face in the course of the aforementioned two centuries. The Principles of the Presbyterial-Synodical Ecclesiastical Polity

The Principles of Synodical-Presbyterial Church Government This work reflects the principles of the synodical-presbyterial church government, which are referred to in the church constitutions of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren and the Reformed Christian Church in Slovakia. The author draws attention to the importance of the principles of church polity in ecclesial life, pointing to their occasional inadequate reflection. In this context, the author points out the introduction of the Führerprinzip in the German Evangelical Church in the 1930s. In addition, he highlights examples of churches that have been able to clearly formulate the principles of church polity, and some of them have even incorporated them into their church law. The author goes on to clarify the basic terminology used in his work, focusing on the naming of Protestant churches in different languages. He deals with the division of churches into families according to the categorization used by the World Council of Churches, paying special attention to the family of United and Uniting churches. He describes five types of these churches, and considering the need to introduce another, a sixth type of United and Uniting churches.
