The mental and physical demands of teacher's work

This bachelor thesis analyses the teaching profession and focuses on its possible demands and requirements. It takes into consideration an objective view of teacher's work as well as a subjective view of a teacher. The basis of this thesis is teacher's psychological professiography that describes individual teacher activities in specific conditions of school environment. It concentrates on requirements on the qualification, teacher's personality and time management along with atypical activities that are found in the teaching profession. An essential part of the thesis considers teacher's workload and its effects on teacher's personality and performance. A special attention is given to stress and its sources and consequences. The teaching profession is appraised as a relatively demanding profession with lots of different demands and expectations. The final section of the thesis contemplates possible ways and strategies of dealing with load and stress in a view of a natural organism defence and other means of dealing with stress. For instance, an effort to change an individual approach to a workload by means of various programmes and courses of continuing education, school resources and other ways.
Sleep and Professional Stress of Teacher

The thesis deals with the topic of sleep and professional stress of teachers. The theoretical part provides information on workload, its sources and its possible consequences. From the long- term consequences of workload is paid attention to burnout syndrome, its symptoms and diagnostic possibilities. One part also reviews the results of burnout studies among teachers and attention is also paid to risk and protective factors. Furthermore, the theoretical part focuses on the topic of sleep, its physiological characteristics, the need and importance of sleep in human life and the consequences of insufficient sleep. It also provides information on selected sleep disorders. The last section of theoretical part summarizes studies of sleep in relation to stress and burnout, which is followed by the empirical part of the thesis. The aim of the empirical research is to investigate the quality of sleep among primary and secondary school teachers and to confirm relationships among sleep quality (PSQI), burnout syndrome (SMBM) and satisfaction with life (SWLS).
The Culture of OSPOD Departments and the Conditions for Coping with Workload

The bachelor's thesis " The Culture of the Child Protection Unit and the Conditions for Coping with Workload" deals with working conditions at child protection unit, describes specific characteristics of the work. The thesis determines a role of head of the department focusing its essential influence on local working environment. Using the management theory the thesis specifies fundamental tactics to create stimulating surroundings with enough support and assistance in coping with overburden - often coupled with these departments. The research summarizes examples from common situations at child protection unit into concrete statements that reflect ways of executives to build good working environment for the workers - building strong relationships, considering periodic supervisions and atmosphere of trust, encouragement and respect.
Sources of stress, workload, and dissatisfaction in the work of nurses

If we happen to be a patient we expect nursing staff to provide us with the best care. But an overloaded nurse cannot meet all needs of all her patients sufficently and provide the first - class nursing care. The aim is to look into the source of stress, strain and dissatisfaction in a work of nurses. Theoretical part aquaints the readers with the contemporary scientific findings in work stress and burnout syndrome of nursing staff. The second chapter deals besides other things, with analysis of mental, social and physical requirements which are necessary for the nursing profession. The empirical part is based on an qualitative research. With the help of semi-structured interviews we recieve unique professional experience of seven respondents who work for the Czech Health Service on the nurse position. The centre of analalytical procedure is a thematic analysis. In our research we find out that nurses lose their energy due to the lack of mental support and appreciation from the side of management and fellow workers. Our respondents meet health workers suffering from burnout syndrome at their workplace. Perception of Workload and Satisfaction of Workers in the Social Sphere

The topic of this bachelor thesis is the perception of workload and working satisfaction of workers in the social sphere. The aim of the work is to compare the workload of the social worker, which mainly deals with the administration and the worker in the social services, which moves in the field and further find out what affects the employment satisfaction of social workers as much as possible. This bachelor thesis is divided into two parts, namely the theoretical and practical part. The first theoretical part contains three main chapters. The first chapter deals with workers in the social sphere and their definition, describes workers who move in the social sphere and contains supporting documents for the pursuit of their profession and also the ethical codes of individual workers. The next chapter is the workload, which includes the definition of stress, stressors, the main causes of stress, the response to stress and also the management of burdens. The last chapter of the theoretical part is devoted mainly to Maslow's theory of motivation and the need for self-realization. There is a description of working satisfaction, theory of work satisfaction and factors influencing work satisfaction. In practical part, qualitative research was used and through structured interviews with inquiry. The information on workload and worker satisfaction was identified by social workers. Research has been able to identify what social workers consider to be a workload and as much as possible affect their job satisfaction. My work has shown whether social workers have any training opportunities in the area of workload management.
Perception of Workload and Job Satisfaction among Social Workers.

The bachelor thesis is focused on the perception of workload and satisfaction of social workers. Furthermore, it deals with work and psychological stress of social workers, on its compensation and sustainable motivational component of this profession. The bachelor thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part there is a more detailed description of the profession of social worker defined by Act No. 108/2006 Coll., about social services and related basic terms. There are also areas focused on work and mental stress, burnout syndrome, motivation and remuneration of social workers and related satisfaction. Last but not least, there is an area focused on coping with and preventing mental stress and workload. The qualitative research method was chosen to prepare the practical part of the thesis. The data were organized using a semi-structured interview with ten social workers of various organizations in the Czech Republic. The main aim of the analytical part of is to emphasize the work and mental stress of social workers and to find out what influence it has on their professional and private life. The research questions were mainly focused on motivation and rewarding of social workers, perception of specific stressors and workloads, but also on the influence of social, family sphere, and above all on the work team. Following the interviews, it was possible to point out the current perception of the performance of the social worker's profession. This thesis could be beneficial for students of Social Work as an insight into the current perception of a social worker's profession from a real and practical perspective. The result of this bachelor thesis can also provide insight into the current state of work and mental stress of social workers and point out the possible optimization of the prevention of psychological problems associated with the performance of this profession.
Workload of Social Service Workes in a Special Programme Regime Home

This diploma thesis deals with workload of social service workers in special regime homes. The aim of this paper is to chart the factors influencing workload of social service workers in special regime homes. The main research question asked is: How do social service workers in special regime homes perceive their workload subjectively? The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a research part. The theoretical part is divided into five chapters which are based on professional literature. The chapters contain a detailed description of the profession of social service workers including professional qualifications together with the definition of the social service - special regime home. The term strain is defined and divided into workload, mental strain and physical strain in the following chapter together with a mention of the term work-life balance in connection with this topic. The subsequent chapter is dedicated to prevention of inception of strain, more precisely to supervision and mental health hygiene. The last chapter deals in detail with occupational burnout. The research part contains the specifications of the aim of the thesis, of the main research question and of five research sub-questions which have been based on the main one. The data have been collected by means of qualitative research, survey methodology and the semi-structured interview method. A specific special regime home in the Vysočina region has been selected for the purposes of this research. The nine participants in the research are social service workers who have been employed at the facility for a minimum of one year. The research was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, a preliminary research was done to serve as a base for adjusting the research questions. The actual research was realised in the next phase. The acquired data were processed using the clustering method and evaluated subsequently. The evaluated data are ordered in relation to the research questions. The social service workers cope with the workload well. They consider their work to be not only physically but also substantially mentally demanding. Manipulating with bedridden clients is viewed as the most physically challenging operation by the facility workers. The most mentally challenging situations for them are the decease of clients, incessant explaining, dealing with clients, etc. The workers experience stressful situations with clients, however more frequently with clients' families as well. The most common work-related health problems of the workers at the facility are backaches. The results of this diploma thesis can serve the selected special regime home in the Vysočina region or as a study material to the lay and professional public.

Teoretical part consist of several chapters, which explain problems and consequences of mental strain. Managing of the workers´ workload in selected home hospic care

The main objective of a social worker and a nurse is to improve the quality of life of the person in the terminal stage of the disease. A social worker and nurse of home hospice care are normally part of a multidisciplinary team in hospice care and, together with other professionals, contribute to improving the quality of clients' lives. Many home care workers are subjected to daily stress and are at risk of burnout or the development of some anxiety disorder or depression. The topic of the bachelor thesis is how the workers in the selected home hospice care manage their workload. The aim of the work is to map the workers' workload and how the workers deal with it. The main research question is: What factors do affect workload management in home hospice care? The qualitative data collection was used as a methodology, using the interview method and the semi-structured interview technique. Employees in hospice care are selected by the quota selection method. The selected quotas are: The interviewee works in direct care with the client for at least half a year and is willing to cooperate.
Prevention and prevalence of burnout syndrome among pedagogues of selected primary and secondary schools

This bachelor thesis takes focus on the burnout syndrom prevention among pedagogic staff in selected primary and high schools. The theoretical part deals with the concept of the burnout syndrom, its causes, phases, risk of its occurrence and last but not least whether the burnout syndrom is a disease or not. The importance of social support and preventive precaution against potential occurrence of the burnout syndrom is also mentioned in this part of the thesis. The practical part is realized through a quantitative research collecting its data in a questionnaire, addressed to pedagogic educators in selected primary and high schools. The receieved data is formed into a graphic illustration. The questionnaire data analysis has shown that the length of pedagogical practice could be in relation to a possible threat of the burnout syndrom. The research results has shown that the most threatened are pedagogues whose practice has lasted for at least 16 years. The survey research has also revealed that almost one half of the respondents experience to be under a threat of the burnout syndrom or perceive themselves to undergo its implications already.
