Koutník, Tomáš ; Šplíchal, Miroslav (referee) ; Šošovička, Róbert (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with review of today most used aircraft power units. Briefly explains their purpose, working principle and most important influences on their function. Voluminous passage informs about main parts of aircraft power units and their functions. At the end of this thesis the directions of aircraft power units development are presented.
New uncommon actuators in robotics
Fogelton, Lukáš ; Žalud, Luděk (referee) ; Kopečný, Lukáš (advisor)
This report presents up to now development of actuators in robotics theirs applications, specifics various sorts of actuators, theirs principles, advantages and disadvantages. Report is splitted to the part that presents usual used actuators, especially electric principle powered actuators, today primarily PMSM motors, furthermore pneumatic or hydraulic actuators that uses pistons principle for convert pressure energy to the motion, or piston combustion engines. In next part presents more unusual actuators that have interesting features for use. Lot of these actuators are elastic, deformable and have better power/weight ratio. In the last part is presented priciple of function pneumatic stepper motor, that is uncommon actuator useable for application in robot works compatible with magnetic resonance imaging.

Installation of the LYCOMING power unit into the Bristel UL aircraft
Kročil, Petr ; Juračka, Jaroslav (referee) ; Píštěk, Antonín (advisor)
This diploma thesis focuses on Lycoming drive unit mounting used in two-seater plane of VLA category (the very light aircraft). In the beginning characteristics of currently produced Bristell aircrafts are described. Following chapters aim at research selection of new drive unit mounting based on multi-criteria decision analysis. For selected unit, the weight, center of mass and flight performance are calculated. Additionally, the construction of engine mount is proposed. According to CS-VLA and CS-23 stress level of mounting is defined followed by strength verification. Later in this thesis, a suitable engine cover for engine and cockpit cooling is proposed. A complete fuel system is described in following chapter. Last chapter deals with financial costs of re-engining as well as aircraft operational costs.
Engines for ultralight airplanes
Voltr, Martin ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the collection of information about the power units for ultralight aircrafts. It deals with their design solutions, technical parameters and usability. In the next part we will find a comparison of these units according to the characteristic parameters. The work also briefly describes the history, legislation and issues of ultralight aircrafts and their propulsion units.
Single lever control system of piston engine with propeller
Gröger, Roman ; Cäsar, Tomáš (referee) ; Šplíchal, Miroslav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the description of the work of aircraft piston power plants and single-lever control systems. The first part describes the characteristics of piston engines and their indicators. The second part describes the work of piston engines with variable-pitch propeller. The third and fourth part deals with single-lever control systems of piston power plant, their comparison and possible problems of their control.
Design of Energy Systems Using Hydrogen as Fuel
Slováček, Adam ; Kermes, Vít (referee) ; Houdková, Lucie (advisor)
The subject of diploma thesis is to gather knowledge in the production and use of hydrogen. This work is devoted to a comparison of the previously existing processes for producing hydrogen, where the vast majority is filled of fossil fuel. Another section is devoted to new materials for the study based on a number of selected patents and the experiment promising new method for decomposition of water. Based on available data will be carried out energy balance and consequently will be drafted energy system using hydrogen as fuel. In conclusion will be future possibilities evaluated in the field of hydrogen energy.
Range Extender Engines for Electric Cars
Kroupa, Jiří ; Janoušek, Michal (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is about range extender engines for electric cars with focusing primarily on piston combustion engines. In the first part, reasons for using range extender are indicated and the principle of use in powertrain of electric vehicle is explained. Requirements for a combustion engine working as range extender are stated with their impact on development parameters of this engine. The second part describes manufacturers with their range extenders. Three engines are described in detail with emphasis on development, technical parameters and operating strategy. Another range extenders with their basic parameters are mentioned too. Conclusion refers about benefits of using range extenders and their future development is estimated.
Combi-Cycle with piston engine
Kubik, Martin ; Caha, Tomáš (referee) ; Fiedler, Jan (advisor)
The scope of this diploma thesis of focused on processing and calculation of the technological scheme for combi-cycle power plant with piston engine using heavy fuel oil. There are analyzed demands of piston engine for HFO and design of technological process preparation. This thesis analyzes the suitable locations, service options and alternative solution - heating plant with piston engines. Benefits of each option are assessed in the economic model, assuming power as a source of base load and providing support services. The results are intended to assess feasibility of the investment project.
