Radiologist assistant´s work in bone densitometry department
MIKŠOVSKÁ, Kateřina
In the bachelor´s thesis is explains and throughly describes bone density scan. Densitometry measures bone mineral density (BMD) and bone density. The test is used primarily to detect an osteoporosis diagnosis. The examinatio is most often performed on the lumbar spine, vertebras (L1-L4) and a left hip joint. During the examination the right positioning a patient is important. It is also necessary to use suitabla positioning supports and correctly asses and anylyze the picture. Osteoporosis is a bone disease that cause a loss of bone density. It is also called the silent killer, because it ogten develops without ay symptoms or pain. The most common cause a fit is lack vitami D, menopause and some other illnesses. Osteoporosis causes the thinning of bones which can lead to fracture of vertebras, proximal end of a femur, distal section of forearm, fractures of ribs, pelvis and tibia. Losing height up to several centimetres is typice for this disease.

Title: Anthropometric factors of Czech artillery soldiers Objectives: The aim of this paper is to evaluate somatotype and body composition of Czech artillery soldiers. It compares three different methods of determining body fat and searches for an easily measurable and reliable predictor of low bone density, whereas evaluating correlations between selected anthropometric factors. Methods: Members of the 13th Artillery Regiment Jince were divided into three groups according to their classification, after which a stratified selection was used to maintain appropriate ratio of the groups. The study involved 189 men and 20 women (age 31.7 ± 6.4 years; height 178.4 ± 7.7 cm; weight 83.8 ± 13.6 kg). All participants were active professional soldiers at the time of the measurement. The data were obtained in the Jince Military Base and in the biomedical laboratory at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of Charles University. Each volunteer underwent four procedures - Heath- Carter somatotyping, Durnin-Womersley body fat estimation, a detailed bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) using Tanita MC-980, and a full-body dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) using Horizon System. To determine mutual relations, Kendall rank correlation coefficient was used and the level of significance was set at p =...

Author: Petr Valenta Title: A case report of physiotherapeutic care of a patient after vertebroplasty Objectives: The aim of this paper is to summarize the theoretical knowledge about vertebroplasty and the facts leading to this procedure and to present a possible example of physiotherapeutic care in a specific case of a patient after percutaneous vertebroplasty. Methodology: The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and special. The theoretical part contains general knowledge of kinesiology of the spine, problems of compression fractures and osteoporosis and physiotherapeutic methods and procedures related to these diagnoses. All the information contained in the theoretical part has been taken from the literature. The special part of this bachelor thesis was prepared on the basis of a continuous professional practice in the period from 24 January to 4 February 2022 at the University Hospital Královské Vinohrady. It is prepared as a case report of a patient after percutaneous vertebroplasty. It contains kinesiological analysis, records of the course of therapy, outcome kinesiological analysis and evaluation of the effect of therapy. Results: During the therapies, the patient experienced a partial shift in her health. At the beginning she was a very unassisted patient able to walk...
Diet in the Prevention and Treatment of Osteoporosis
Veselá, Kristýna ; Kužela, Lubomír (advisor) ; Raška, Ivan (referee)
Aquamin is an unique multimineral complex, which comes from a red sea algae Lithothamnion Calcareum. In addition of calcium and magnesium, Aquamin contains next 72 important trace minerals. Its unique structure, which evokes honeycomb and its content of polymorf forms of the calcium carbonate, are probably responsible for its better bioavailability for the human body. This property was tested in many studies, which often measured a level of parathormone in the serum. This hormone is responsible for the calcium resorption from bones. Aquamin decreases the parathormone level in the serum and it is so a right product in the fight with osteoporose and osteopenia. In the market many preparations with Aquamin have been already found out, it is so available for all patients. Aquamin is a fully natural product, vegetable source, Organic certified. Key words: Osteoporose, Aquamin, parathormone, calcium, magnesium

Santariová, Martina ; Vytřísalová, Magda (advisor) ; Doseděl, Martin (referee)
ADHERENCE TO PHARMACOTHERAPY OF OSTEOPOROSIS Author: Martina Santariová Supervisor: PharmDr. Magda Vytřísalová, Ph.D. Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy INTRODUCTION: Adherence is the extent to which the patient's behavior (using of medication, following recommended regimen) is in accordance with the advice of the health care provider. Adherence to pharmacotherapy of osteoporosis, including compliance and persistence, is still suboptimal. OBJECTIVE: The objective of the study was assessing of subjectively evaluated adherence with peroral bisphosphonates used to treat osteoporosis within Czech women. METHODS: A cross-sectional multicentre survey. Data collecting was carried out using anonymous questionnaire in five osteocenters in the Czech Republic. The research was performed between November 2012 and March 2013. Adherence was evaluated using a standardized questionnaire OS- MMAS (Osteoporosis-specific Morisky Medication Adherence Scale). RESULTS: A total of 363 postmenopausal women aged 55 years and older with osteoporosis or osteopenia were participated in the study. 133 (36,6 %) women used weekly dosage forms of BIS (alendronate, alendronate and vitamine D in a fixed combination, risedronate) and 230 (63,4 %) women used...

Adherence to calcium and vitamin D supplementation in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Author: Radka Holcová Supervisor: Magda Vytřísalová Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy Introduction: The insufficient medication adherence is a very frequent problem with chronic asymptomatic diseases as osteoporosis which significantly influences the treatment outcome. The successful osteoporosis therapy is based on adequate supply of calcium and vitamin D. A lot of studies are focused on the adherence to antiresorptive treatment but the adherence to supplementation therapy is rarely evaluated. Aims: The aim of the study was to evaluate the adherence to calcium and vitamin D supplementation in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis. Methods: The adherence was evaluated using two different methods: self-reported questionnaire and the electronic monitoring by bottles type Medication Event Monitoring System (MEMS). This partial analysis of a multicentre study includes and assesses data from Osteocentre in Pardubice Regional Hospital. Results: The analysis was performed with 15 women (the average age of 73). The patients were treated with Caltrate 600 mg/400 IU D3 once a day for three months. The adherence during the entire period...
Options of electrical stimulation of paretic muscles in patients withh spinal cord injury
Dvořáková, Klára ; Schreier, Bronislav (advisor) ; Špaňhelová, Šárka (referee)
Electrostimulation of neuro-muscular tissue is one of the elementary treating methods in physiotherapy. One of the areas of its use is rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord injury. As there doesnt exist enough resources written in czech language, I settled down to the goal of present the overview and options of its use in those patients. As completing this text, I came out of my knowledges drawn through the studies on 2nd Faculty of Medicine Charles University, specialized publications available in czech language and not least from specialized articles, case studies and literature of worldwide authors, because those are majority of informations aviable about this problematics. This work stays from parts about spinal cord with its injuries and elecrtostimulation and its practical use. Big portion of the work deals with usage of electrostimulation to improve the quality of life of spinal patients. Especially in prevention of pressure ulcers, respiratory diseases and osteoporosis. Last chapters are specially devouted to functional electrostimulation of upper and lower limb.
