The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to analyze the recycling of plastics and the analysis of the recycling process of PET bottles in the company PETKA CZ, a.s. In the last analysis of the work influencing the ways to obtain input material for the production of recycling from PET bottles, management of plastic waste, proposals for improving the production of this company and at the same time the possibilities of reducing waste in the production of recycling. Furthermore, this work describes the legislative regulation of environmental protection, general principles of recycling, how to recycle the company PETKA CZ, a.s. It currently determines and at the same time how we could recycle this to use in the future.
Trends in geographical information systems applications in waste management
Polášek, Marek ; Gregor, Jiří (referee) ; Pavlas, Martin (advisor)
The objective of this bachelor thesis is explanation of geographical information system issue and their application in waste management. The first part introduces the concepts of geographical information system and waste management, second part deals with usual GIS applications in waste management including the perspective trends, third part contains the overview of existing GIS software solutions and platforms including the mobile apps. Fourth part presents the specific design of GIS system for waste management.
Municipal Waste Production Analysis
Švarc, Vít ; Nevrlý, Vlastimír (referee) ; Kropáč, Jiří (advisor)
Thesis analyses the current state of waste management of Czech Republic and the issue of production of various kinds of waste. Real data about production and composition of waste flows of Jihlava have been used. In addition, thesis evaluates the impact of local conditions on production of isolated constituents of municipal waste within the town. Influences such as density of population, housing development or form of heating have been monitored. A method on the town level for estimation and evaluation of production of municipal waste is designed in the thesis. Tools such as descriptive statistics, correlative analysis or association rules are used.
Energy use of waste
Hrubý, Radomír ; Milčák, Pavel (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
The content of this work is an evaluation of the Waste-to-Energy technology. The in-troduction describes current position of the Czech Republic on waste management. Including description of individual waste management technologies. The following chapter deals with the use of waste as a fuel for energy purposes. The principle of waste incineration and pyrolysis technology is elaborated here. Further, are discussed the methods of purification of individual components of flue gas. The penultimate chapter is devoted to legislation that affects the ecology of Waste-to-Energy technology and the comparison of emissions of various stationary sources of pollution which are producing energy. In conclusion, there are described facilities for the energy utilization of municipal waste in the Czech Republic, which are supplemented by two facilities from neighboring states.
Waste-to-Energy as a key technology of developed waste management systems
Guštara, Dominik ; Putna, Ondřej (referee) ; Šomplák, Radovan (advisor)
Bachelor thesis focuses on analyzing the current state of European waste management systems and on prediction of its future development with focus on waste-to-energy technology. First part of this thesis serves as an introduction to the waste management issue and describes a computational tool NERUDA. Following is a description of data collection about the current state of waste management in the investigated countries. The final and most important part deals with the explanation of how the future development was estimated and with analyzing the results of optimization.
Integration of Waste-to-Energy Plant into the District Heating Network with Existing Heating Plant
Kopecký, Václav ; Janošťák, František (referee) ; Putna, Ondřej (advisor)
The main two goals of this thesis are summarization of current state of waste management policies in the Czech Republic and introduction of possibilities connected with waste-to-energy strategy. This thesis is divided to 4~sections, each of them focused around different part of this complex problem, or issues directly connected to it. In the first part, state of waste management in the Czech Republic is discussed from several different points of view. Then, district heating is introduced as a solid platform for waste-to-energy facilities. The last two chapters present several other issues, connected with construction of new waste-to-energy plants and methods of optimization of long term rentability models.
Advanced Networkflow Models for Circular Economy
Pluskal, Jaroslav ; Klimeš, Lubomír (referee) ; Šenkeřík, Roman (referee) ; Pavlas, Martin (advisor)
The dissertation thesis on "Advanced Network Models in the Field of Circular Economy" addresses a crucial topic concerning the need for efficient waste management from an environmental perspective and the achievement of stringent legislative goals. Circular economy represents a complex chain of processes, including waste collection, sorting, recycling, and final disposal. Analyzing and optimizing this intricate process pose challenges, particularly due to various stakeholders and variables involved. Hence, the development of supportive tools and models is imperative to conduct detailed analyses and gain insight into the addressed issues. This work introduces a set of novel mathematical models, utilizing optimization algorithms to plan the necessary infrastructure for waste processing and effectively work with reported data, aiming for sustainable solutions within the circular economy framework. The contributions of these models are further demonstrated through specific case studies, showcasing their ability to optimize processes within the circular economy. These case studies confirm that network flow-based tasks have the potential to significantly contribute to waste management planning, facilitating the transition towards a circular economy.
