The importance of basal stimulation in patient care in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation

The bachelor thesis includes the use of the concept of basal stimulation at the Anesthesiology and resuscitation ward and the specifics of nursing care of the patient in this ward. It deals with the application of the concept of basal stimulation in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation. The concept of basal stimulation was developed by educator Andreas Fröhlich in the 20th century during his research project as a doctoral student. He proved that the most important thing is the stimulation of the so-called basal senses. This concept serves to support human perception and communication. It is based on scientific knowledge of the neurophysiological development of the child. The concept was first applied in the care of children with severe congenital disabilities. It is now being applied in palliative and intensive care, social services and psychiatric nursing. The aim of this study is to find out what elements of basal Stimulation are used in different hospitals in the ARO in the nursing care of the patient. For the research investigation, the ARO at the Pelhřimov Hospital and the České Budějovice Hospital were selected. For the practical part, two research questions were set. The first one describes the importance of basal stimulation in patient care in ARO and the second question deals with the applied elements of BS in Hospital Pelhřimov and Hospital České Budějovice. According to the data analysis, two categories and seven subcategories were created. From the research survey it was found that all respondents perceived the importance of basal stimulation applied in ARO very positively, and they try to apply this concept in their nursing care of patients. In the research investigation, it was found that the respondents agree on most of the applied elements and the most used element is the initiating touch.

The needs of transplanted patients after a re-enrollment in a long-term dialysis program

Introduction: In this bachelor thesis, the needs of transplanted patients re-entering a long-term dialysis program were examined. The unsatisfied needs of such patients may lead to a deterioration in their health. It is therefore important to perceive the patient's desires and wishes. The issues addressed in this thesis can contribute to a better understanding of the patient´s needs not only by the nursing staff, but also by the patient's family and his surroundings. Objective and research questions: The main objective of this study was to identify the specific needs of these patients. Answers were sought to the questions such as what the specific needs are, how the needs changed before transplantation and after re-entering the dialysis, which needs are not met adequately, and which ones are the most important for the patients. Methods: The data were obtained through qualitative research in the form of a semi structured interview at a selected dialysis center in the South Bohemian Region. The data were processed by the coding method using the ATLAS.ti statistical program. Subsequently, 5 categories were identified with their subcategories. Results: From the resulting data it was found that patients most desire the need for sleep and rest, being pain-free, leading a normal life, and receiving sufficient support from family. However, inadequate satisfaction in the area of sleep does not prevent patients from engaging in a form of physical activity, which positively affects their mental well being. It was also noted that the most important aspect for patients during dialysis is a calm and uncomplicated process. Conclusion: Despite the results of this research, it is necessary to consider a person as an individual being whose needs may differ from the majority.

Chronic constipation in the elderly as a nursing problem

The aim of the bachelor's thesis titled "Chronic Constipation in the Elderly as a Nursing Problem" was to explore the methods chosen by patients with chronic constipation for bowel evacuation and where they seek information regarding prevention and treatment of chronic constipation. Additionally, the study investigated who educates patients in this regard. The research objectives were achieved through formulated research questions and semi-structured interviews. In the theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis, we focused on describing constipation, its classification, causes, risk factors, and common symptoms. I also discussed proper diagnosis of chronic constipation and the selection of suitable therapies, which can be either non-pharmacological or pharmacological. Currently, alternative approaches for treating and preventing chronic constipation are well-known. The final section of the thesis is dedicated to geriatrics and gerontology. The practical part of the bachelor's thesis involved qualitative research investigations and interviews with nine clients. The interviews were transcribed, and data has been categorised. The research investigation provided information into methods for preventing and treating chronic constipation. Notably, there were contributions in both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. Clients often employ their own alternative methods to aid with bowel evacuation. The research concludes that clients lack sufficient information, and they struggle to find reliable sources. Furthermore, there is a shortage of healthcare professionals who can adequately educate them. Based on the results of the bachelor thesis, a leaflet for patients suffering from chronic constipation was created.

Coping with the demanding work of caring for the long-term sick

This bachelor thesis is primarily focused on challenging situations that may arise during the care of long-term patients. It explores the specific situations that employees of a particular healthcare facility perceive as stressful, how they individually experience them, and how they cope with them. Additionally, it delves into how these employees perceive the everyday aspects of their work after years of practice. The theoretical part of the thesis, based on professional sources, primarily describes possible challenging situations and then discusses methods and techniques that can be used to cope with them. The resulting work is intended for those who wish to understand the experiences of individuals working in the healthcare environment, providing insights into what challenges one might encounter in this profession. It also conveys recommendations from experienced personnel on how to deal with such situations.

A View on Reflection in Nursing and Social Work Education

In times of dynamic social changes and uncertainty, reflective practice becomes crucial for social work and nursing. This dissertation examines the epistemological foundations and the multidimensional nature of reflection within professional education from various theoretical perspectives tested through original empirical findings, which aim to prevent the reduction of reflection to a mere technique and instead promote dialogue, interdisciplinary cooperation, and participatory methods. Drawing on phenomenological and critical constructivist approaches deepens the understanding of educators' individual and collective experiences and reflective practices. The structure of the thesis corresponds to three empirical phases. The first phase investigates the characteristics of reflection and its developmental potential using SRIS and PHLMS questionnaires. The second phase, encompassing reflexive thematic analysis of interviews, addresses educators' views on reflection and their methods of promoting reflectivity among students. In the third phase, the work employs Q methodology to process and analyze various perspectives on reflection among educators. Subjective perception of workload and fatigue of nurses

The bachelor's thesis entitled Subjective perception of workload and fatigue of nurses deals with the issue and perception of the degree of workload, stress and fatigue of nurses. The aim of the thesis is to determine the subjective perceptions of workload of selected groups of nurses and then to evaluate the results of the research and suggest recommendations for practice. The theoretical part of the thesis contains a basic overview of the individual knowledge on the subject, describes the types of workload and fatigue and points out its consequences and prevention. The empirical part contains the results of our own research using a standardized Meister questionnaire. Furthermore, the results of the own investigation were compared with the results of other similar research on a similar topic. The method of the survey was a self-constructed survey, which was supplemented with the Meister questionnaire. The questionnaire was distributed to nurses employed at Motol Hospital in intensive care beds. The sample consisted of 94 respondents. Obligations of patients and possible sanctions for their violation

The bachelor's thesis is focused on the area of patient obligations and possible sanctions for their violation. The theoretical part defines the specific rights of patients, which directly result from defined obligations, in case of non-fulfilment of which the medical facility can apply specified sanctions on behalf of authorized persons. The theoretical definition of the issue is followed by a research investigation. The empirical part is devoted to quantitative research, which was carried out on the basis of an own research investigation. The research examines the knowledge of Motol FN nurses in the area of patient obligations and the application of possible sanctions for their violation. The results of the survey are then compared with the results of another survey. The method of the research investigation is a self-constructed questionnaire. For subsequent data processing, 102 questionnaires are selected from the total number of 125 questionnaires received, which contain completely answered questions and a matching control question. The effect of diabetes type I on activities of daily living in children

The Bachelor's thesis on the topic "Influence of type I diabetes mellitus on activities of daily life" is focused on the daily activities of children with type I diabetes mellitus, or diabetes. This disease is typical for childhood and its incidence is currently increasing. The aim of the work is to find out whether diabetes affects the activities of daily life in children and to investigate more closely in which areas and to what extent. The work is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part focuses on current knowledge about the disease, the history of the disease, its symptoms, diagnosis and treatment. Furthermore, activities of daily life, familiarization with the concept of self- sufficiency, self-care and children's needs. For research in the empirical part, was used a self- constructed questionnaire, which contained twenty-five items and was answered by sixty- seven respondents from the Pediatric Clinic at the Motol University Hospital, aged nine to eighteen.
