Media in life of a preschool child

This bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of the influence of media on preschool children. The aim of the thesis is to find out how preschool children are influenced by media what media they use, what programs they watch on TV, what online games they play and what other activities they use the media for. The partial goal is to find out whether parents read children's books or buy children's magazines to their children, and whether topics from the media penetrate into children's games. The theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis contains chapters on the interpretation of the term medium, its history and classification. It describes the development of a preschool child and the relationship between the media and their use by preschool children. The practical part presents the results of mixed research, the methods used are an interview with preschool children and a questionnaire completed by their parents, the answers of the respondents are subsequently compared. Furthermore, the results of the control group are presented here in graphs, where the respondents are again parents of preschool children.

Assessment of three types of heat exchangers

The aim of this thesis is to assess selected three types of heat exchangers designed for emergency cooling. The theoretical part of this thesis consists of a research containing an overview of exchangers. It includes a description of the construction of exchangers, characte-ristics in terms of heat transfer and an indication of the areas of its use. The practical part deals with the thermal and hydraulic design of two tube heat exchangers and a plate heat exchanger. Finally, the evaluation of the designed exchangers is performed.
The differences between perception of metonymy in photography and in movies from the perspective of reception aesthetics

The diploma work "The differences between perception of metonymy in photography and in movies from the perspective of reception aesthetics" deals with different uses of the figure of speech - metonymy - in visual communication. The metonymy is primarily used as an ornamental device of language expression. It is also distinguishable in purely visual information that is provided in photography and certain film shots. In visual communication, metonymy is also used for embellishing of the visual content or, at least, its correction. This work is focused especially on these examples of the use of metonymy that employ the method of reception aesthetics, which was up to now applied only to literary works. The subjects of interest of the reception aesthetics are so- called places of indeterminacy and the horizon of expectation which is also the focus of this work in addition to its main focus on metonymic expression in movies and photography. The first part of this work deals with the theory of the reception aesthetics and its main exponents. The second part deals with the relationship between the recipients and the media, specifically photography and movie. Time, material and motion in spatial implementation in the confrontation with public space

The bachelor thesis titled 'Time, material and move in space realizations in public space', subtitle: Conception of blind people - provides a description and assessment of possible approach from the lecturer to blind client and the communicating during the process of creating the sculpture. The theoretical part deals with possibilities of the object in public space described by authors approaches. This part is followed a non-complicated classification of the blind people and the description of a methodical activity with them. The following part is a practical part. It is a description of the creating the sculpture with blind student and the process of installing the object to the public space. This experience and the result of this cooperation is the important part of the final project for extracurricural surrounding as described in the last part of this bachelor thesis.
APPLICATION OF NONLINEAR EDITING METHODS IN TELEVISION NEWSCAST

This work studies the influence that non-linear editing of visual materials and usage of digital news production system have on the final form of news programmes. I also compare these advanced technologies with the older linear editing and analog playout, illustrate it by describing the principles of both methods and explain it on a hypothetical example. Two chapters are devoted to the integration of digital archives and graphics tools. The examined period used for comparison of new and old technologies is the week from 2 to 8 April in 2010 and the same week a decade earlier. The news programme examined is Udalosti on Czech television. The aim is to point out how the technical possibilities can change the workflow and form of newscast, not just in theory but also practically.

The role of the media as an information source for parents on maternity and parental leave

The diploma thesis focuses on the role of the media in the lives of parents on maternity and parental leave and how they satisfy their needs through use of media. The thesis is based on the uses and gratification theory and especially on the typology of media-personal interactions defined by Denis McQuail. The aim of the thesis is to find out, through twenty interviews with mothers and fathers living in the household with a child or children, for what purpose the media are used by this specific group. The thesis includes a theoretical anchoring of the approach of uses and gratification theory concerning its historical development during the 20th century, but it also focuses on its concept at present after the spread of new media. The theoretical part of the thesis also deals with the characteristics of maternity and parental leave and it tries to identify everyday activities associated with this period and its positive and negative aspects. The methodological part describes the area of qualitative research and related procedures, including the choice of data collection method, which is a semi-structured interview, and the characteristics of the research sample.
