Determination of substances content in mint
Novotná, Martina ; Zlámalová Gargošová, Helena (referee) ; Vávrová, Milada (advisor)
This Bachelor thesis deals with determination of the content substances in mint (Mentha). Mint is in pharmacy very popular herb, it is been used for over 2000 years. We know many species of mint. Peppermint (Mentha piperita) is the most favorite and most common species. In the theoretical part there is description of substances found in plants, the characteristic of mint and principles of used analytical methods. Practical part of this thesis describes substances found in examined teas.
Stabilita šťávy zeleného ječmene pomocí silic vybraných rostlinných druhů

Bachelor theses is themed Stabilization of juice a young barley with the use of essential oils of different plant species is focusing on the substances contained in a young barley, its cultivation and process of juice production and a use of essential oils for juice stabilization. The theoretical part it is dealing with cultivation and processing of a young barley then the different plant species and preservative properties of the essential oils. The practical part is focused on barley cultivation in laboratory conditions processing and a use of essential oils. Essential oils are from the conservation point of view a very valuable material and they are beginning to more widely use. In this project were used essential oils of different plant species and it fennel (Foeniculum), cinnamon (Cinnamonum), lemon balm (Melissa) and mint (Mentha). After adding the essential oils at the samples was carried out sensory evaluation and processing of the results.
Analysis of sensorially active substances contained herbal extracts
Koloničná, Markéta ; Vítová, Eva (referee) ; Mikulíková, Renata (advisor)
The peppermint (Mentha piperita), the salvia (Salvia officinalis), the lemon balm (Melissa oficinalis), the camomile (Matricaria chamomilla) and the valerian (Valeriana officinalis) are herbs with healing effects. Their ethanol extracts are used for food fortification or in a cosmetic industry. Substances contained in herbal extracts were analyzed in this thesis. The extracts were prepared by maceration. Next, they were analyzed by using a gas chromatography and a mass spectrometry. The aim of this thesis was an optimalization of the method used for the analysis of sensorially active substances. Then, herbal extracts were analyzed and concentration of sensorially active substances was determined.
Compounds of terpenic nature in mint plants and the influence of elicitation on them
Jančová, Nikola ; Čáslavský, Josef (referee) ; Vávrová, Milada (advisor)
Diploma thesis is focused on study of compounds of terpenic nature in mint plants. Terpenic compounds are volatile hydrocarbons formed by several isoprenoid units with low molecular weight which cause the typical smell of plants. Presence of these compounds cause that plants seem to be fungicidal, bactericidal and insecticidal. Due to these properties, they can be used as botanical pesticides which are not toxic and no resistant organisms occur. Each plant contains relatively low concentrations of these compounds and therefore elicitors must be used for the increasing of terpenes amount. Elicitors activate defensive mechanisms in the plant leading to higher defense abilities and production of secondary metabolites. The identification and quantification of analytes was determined by gas chromatography in connection with mass spectrometry.

This bachelor diploma is focused on Mentha piperita L., which is gaining again in popularity lately. Mint is one of the most popular and the most commonly grown medicinal plants. Mint is used by more than 2000 years and is part of almost every medicine. Mint is used in the pharmaceutical industry, food processing industry and traditional cultures. Identification of individual species is however very difficult because of their great diversity, high polymorphism a light hybridization. In this paper are described substances contained peppermint and their quantiative determination by the Czech Pharmacopoeia 2009 and its supplements. Part of this thesis contained the experiment results of the cultivation of peppermint, wherein the height of the plants has been evaluated, and it was subsequently determined quantity of essentials oils by steam distillation, the dry-out ratio and yield of raw weight of drug per hectare. Furthermore, the hypotheis has been formed regarding the influence of the quantity of nettle (Urtica dioica) constituents.
Obsah silic ve vybraných druzích léčivých, aromatických a kořeninových rostlin, které se používají i jako „zelené koření“
Kyselová, Martina
Ethereal oils are described in this bachelor's work. There is a characterization of ethereal oils, of its occurrence, properties and way of isolation these plants. The best-known types of these plants, which are called "green spice", are eleborated in this work. It also contains experimental determination of content by choosen samples, which were acquire from two sources - LEROS s.r.o company and from Žabčice, MENDELU in Brno. Ethereal oils were insulated by a method of destilation with water vapour. Acquired plenty of e.oils was compared with a norm's requirements, eventually with a czech formulary.
Analysis of essences in some plant materials
Koloničná, Markéta ; Svoboda, Zdeněk (referee) ; Mikulíková, Renata (advisor)
The peppermint (Mentha piperita) and the levander (Lavandula angustifolia) are the aromatic herbs with the healing and spices effects. Their essencial oils serve to production of the aromatic substances, they are used in the cosmetic and the food industry. In this thesis were analyzed substances which are contained in levander and peppermint oils. These oils were extracted through the destillation with the water steam, next they were analyzed by the gas chromatograph and the mass spectrometer. The aim of the thesis was found which substances contain these oils. In the levander oils were proofed the highest amounts of the cineole, linalool and the linalyl-acetate. In the peppermint oils were proofed the highest amounts of the menthon and the menthol.
