Measurements of permeability of dialysis membranes
Veselá, Martina ; Jiřík, Radovan (referee) ; Kolářová, Jana (advisor)
Familiarization with dialysis theoretical principles and determination of dialysis membrane permeability with the help of experimentally assembled apparatus is the aim of this bachelor thesis. The introduction part deals with basic knowledge concerning treatment with dialysis and its current quality. There continues a chapter stating an overview of dialysis membranes different types and main characteristics of individual materials, which the membranes were made of and which they are produced now. Theoretical preparation for the practical part of the thesis clarifies the basic notions, principals and processes connected with the mass transfer through dialysis membranes and dialysis. Further on, theoretical process is described and phrased how to determine dialysis membranes permeability in a laboratory scale in an experimental way. Two possible configurations of experimental apparatus are illustrated with block schemes working either in a non-stationary or a stationary regime of measurement. The basis to determine membrane permeability is sampling in specified time intervals from blood and dialyze side and spectrophotometric detection of samples concentration. The practical part itself is preceded with the process with collected samples analysis. Then, it is followed with relations derivation for mass transfer coefficient calculation. Concentration progress on blood and dialyze side with non-stationary way of measurement is modelled in Simulink programme. The practical part of the thesis uses the mentioned above theoretical knowledge and assumptions and it realises concrete measurements in non-stationary regime. Evaluating part of the thesis documents the obtained results and assesses them with the help of derived equations. The whole process of measurement including obtained results is evaluated and discussed in the final part.

Nutrition during home hemodialysis treatment
Fialová, Petra ; Starnovská, Tamara (advisor) ; Dusílková, Nina Borisovna (referee)
The bachelor thesis "Nutrition of patients treated with home haemodialysis" deals with the analysis of diet and eating habits of patients treated with home haemodialysis. The aim of the thesis is to show that patients treated with home haemodialysis can follow a more moderate dietary restriction, thrive better and lead an active life. In the theoretical part I discuss the types of dialysis and their principles, complications of dialysis treatment, quality of life of dialysis patients and last but not least nutrition in different stages of kidney disease and dialysed patients. In the practical part, I based the results on structured questionnaires containing 20 questions and a detailed weekly menu. All 5 dialysis patients of the dialysis centre who are treated by home haemodialysis participated in the quantitative survey. The results of the survey showed that patients perceive a difference in their diet compared to conventional dialysis, with 60% of patients saying that they do not have to restrict themselves as much and 40% of patients even saying that they do not restrict themselves at all. Patients report these differences mainly in the amount of beverages, vegetables and fruits consumed. During the research, patients had normal laboratory results, felt better, experienced less fatigue and led a...

Health promotion management among patients with chronic kidney disease
PUMPROVÁ, Johanka
Introduction: The bachelor thesis deals with the management of health promotion of patients with chronic kidney disease. It highlights the importance of health promotion for patients with chronic kidney disease. Aim of the work: The aim of this work is to investigate the management of health promotion of patients with chronic kidney disease. Methodology: The research part of the thesis was carried out by quantitative research using two unstructured questionnaires. The first questionnaire was designed for patients with chronic kidney disease attending a dialysis center, it included 30 questions focused on health promotion and 5 questions on demographic data. The second questionnaire developed for nurses working in the dialysis center and consisted of 20 questions, 4 of them were related to demographic data. The first questionnaire was answered by 74 respondents and the second by 32. The data that came out of the questionnaires was processed into graphs and then the research questions were answered. The results: It was found that patients support their health mostly in the areas of diet, drinking and rest. On the other hand, physical activity and participation in educational sessions is a critical area. Education on stress avoidance is the critical place for most nurses. Further, the research revealed that patient's unwillingness to listen is the biggest problem that hinders nurses from imparting health promotion information. There are only few patients who are not supported by their friends and relatives other or general nurses. Conclusion: Health promotion is very important both as a prevention of chronic kidney disease and as an effort to prevent disease progression. Engaging in leisure time physical activities, eating vegetables regularly, being supported by loved ones or finding out new information about their disease are simple actions that are not that demanding and through which the patient can promote their health.
The patient healing hemodialysis at home by the paramedic´s perspective
KŘIVÁNEK, Martin
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the issue of domestic haemodialysis with special attention to the role of paramedics in dealing with acute problems associated with this procedure. The work is intended as theoretical, without the author´s own research. It aims at reviewing treatment options for kidney failure, describing the principle of home haemodialysis, its benefits and disadvantages for patients and their families. Special attention is paid both to potential risks brought about by this method of dialysing blood and to ways of addressing the complications from the perspective of pre-hospital care. To achieve its goals, the work outlines and compares current attitudes towards these issues both in this country and abroad. Its introductory part summarizes the structure and functions of kidneys, the most frequent causes of renal diseases as well as their possible therapies. Further on, it introduces in greater details both general and specific procedures applied by emergency medical squads in case of complications during domestic haemodialysis. The main scientific contribution of the work consists in the very synthesis of the present knowledge and methods of treatment and - at the same time - in defining the so far unresolved issues. The part of the thesis devoted to home haemodialysis, which still represents a relatively rarely used method, underlines particularly the fact that emergency medical procedures responding to specific complications connected with this treatment have not been sufficiently defined yet. The thesis therefore comes to the conclusion that paramedics facing acute problems associated with domestic haemodialysis have to rely mainly on general procedures determined for providing pre-hospital care. That is why this field still remains open for further theoretical research. Detailed potential practical steps aimed specifically at complications during home haemodialysis are in demand as well.
