Assessment of school readiness in the areas of visual and auditory perception

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of school maturity in the field of visual and auditory perception and its diagnostics in children in the last year of pre-school education. The theoretical part contains the characteristics of the development of the pre-school child and the conception of pre-primary education, the concepts of school maturity and readiness, risk factors of school failure, deferment of compulsory school attendance, partial functions and deficits of partial functions. Furthermore, the possibilities of diagnostics of phonological and visual perception and other methods of evaluation of the functions, which make the acquisition of school skills successful, are described. Also mentioned is the enrollment of a child into the first grade of elementary school. The objective of the empirical part is to find out whether it is possible to contribute to their maturation by regular stimulation of the partial functions in the field of visual and auditory perception in preschool children, thus improving the readiness of children to enter primary school. Possibilities of Development of Individual Functions in Socially Disadvantaged Children in Younger School Age

This thesis deals with the possibilities of development of partial functions in socially disadvantaged children of younger school age. The theoretical part introduces basic characteristics of children of younger school age, social disadvantage, and impacts of environment on education; partial functions, their diagnostics, and deficits in such functions. It also presents specific learning disorders and behaviour disorders as well as selected options of support for socially disadvantaged children. The practical part presents the results of the research focused on the situation of socially disadvantaged children of younger school age within the context of possibilities of development of their partial functions. The qualitative research was processed using the grounded theory method, while the methods of data collection included interview, observation, and analysis of document. The key elements found were the exhaustion of parents of socially disadvantaged children and transferring of responsibility for the education process to the child. The conclusion of the thesis contains practical recommendations for work with families with children in connection with the education of socially disadvantaged children and the possibilities of supporting their development.

Comparison of teaching methods for initial reading at the beginning of the second grade The thesis focuses on the initial fading teaching methods. It introduces historic development of the methods used in Czech schools as well as current situation. The thesis consists of two main parts. The first part is a summary of information acquired from expert literature. The second part is practical and includes the description and conclusion of a research. The theoretical part focuses on the pre-reading stage and the effect of pre-school education on reading. It presents information about the development of particular functions, clarifies importance of development of skills necessary to master correct technique of reading and introduces factors affecting child's readiness to enter school. Chapter focused on alternative reading teaching methods is also included. The practical part describes comparison of three most frequently used methods of teaching initial reading. Using of NTC method to the development of partial functions of preschool children

This dissertation is focused on the development of skills of children in preschool age. The work is split into the theoretical and practical parts. The chapters of the theoretical part deal with the characteristics of child's progress in preschool age as well as with partial function development, personal growth and upbringing in the preschool age. The work is focused on the education of children in preschools and on the monitoring of school maturity. The practical part of the dissertation concentrates on the implementation of the NTC Stimulation Programme into the pedagogical and educational activities of the Salomon Preschool, a private education center for preschool children. In the practical part, the NTC method is evaluated based on the comparison of the research group with a control group consisting of children attending state preschool. Furthermore appropriate activities for preschool children are recommended. The recommended activities are focused on the support of specific key competencies and skills. Options of development of partial functions of pre-school children Abstract This thesis is focused on issue of the development of partial functions in preschool age and mapping of the course of development of partial functions in kindergartens in Karlovy Vary Region and Prague. The task of the theoretical part is to define the notions of partial functions and partial functions deficits and to explain their relationship to specific learning disabilities. It describes the characteristics of preschool age and options of development of partial functions in its course. It includes basic information about school maturity, pedagogical- psychological diagnostics of children in kindergartens. It mentions also the child's enrollment in the first grade of primary school and school attendance delay. Possibilities of partial functions development in the first class of elementary school

The diploma thesis deals with pupils' possibilities of partial functions development in the first class of elementary school. The theoretical part defines the basic terms and it introduces the definitions in the field of specific dysfunctions of learning. It also deals with a possible diagnostics of the specific dysfunctions. The thesis describes crucial partial functions in the relation to school skills acquirement and it presents the partial function theory as one of the causes in difficulties in reading and writing acquirement. The practical part analyses the results of the diagnostics which was realized in the first grade at elementary school. This diagnostics was aimed to chosen partial functions and the results were taken before and after the exercises aimed to partial functions development.
