The Diploma thesis focuses on youth structures that profess to the largest far-right and far-left parties representatives in the Czech Republic. In the far-right milieu it is the Worker's Party Youth, who are closely associated with the Worker's party of Social Justice. On the far-left side of the spektrum, there are formally two entities, that profess to the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia: the Communist Youth Union and the Union of Young Communists of Czechoslovakia. The aim of this thesis is to clarify the extent of real interdependence of these civic associations with a political party, and on the other side, to examine their political extremism level, both in theory and also in the terms of security forces. The thesis further explores to what extent, therefore, these entities are a real threat to the existing democratic system in the Czech Republic.

Hon, Matěj ; Říchová, Blanka (advisor) ; Gelnarová, Jitka (referee)
In this thesis, the author raises the following question: What is the nature of the efforts of Romani elites at political participation in the Czech Republic and what is their potential? He presupposes that those currents of the Roma ethno-emancipation movement that are not defined sharply against the surrounding society are in a better position. He summarizes the basic facts from the history of the Roma in the Czech Republic with an overlap into the Central European context. He monitors the factors relevant to the examination of political acts of the Roma and subsequently characterizes their own understanding of ethnicity, showing that kinship and sub-ethnic groups are more important for the collective identification of most of the Roma. The theoretical part deals with selected authors who participated in the discussions on multiculturalism, both on the general, international, and on the national level, with special focus on Roma issues. In the final chapter the author tries to apply all the described knowledge to the three most significant projects of the Roma, through which the Romani elites engage in public affairs in the Czech Republic. They are the Union of Gypsies- Roma from the break of 1960s and 1970s, the Roma Civic Initiative, a party active in the 90s, and a civic association called...
Transformation of the KSČ/M since 1989
Roleček, Hynek ; Bureš, Jan (advisor) ; Buben, Radek (referee)
Transformation and Splitting of the KSČ/M since 1989 The process of transformation of the Czechoslovak Communist Party (KSČ) and its successor the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) since November 1989 is a unique example of incomplete transformation of the communist party into the non- communist party. The core of this process was the development of the KSČ and the KSČM in 1989-1996. The party following a change in the political system saves in the first free elections in 1990. The party searches possibilities of changes, which culminates into internal referendum in 1991- 1992, when the majority decides to keep the original labelling. The decisive point of the whole process is Congress in Prostějov in June 1993 when the winning faction prevents the radical change and preserves the party. Despite the strong party splitting, which creates a lot of non-communist parties, the KSČM may rely on the solid core of voters in the elections of 1996. It is a signal for the party that the trend starting by KSČM consolidates positions, even offers other options for strengthening. I study the consequences of the transformation of the KSČ/M in my work from several perspectives. We can read an effort for transformation into the party of the democratic type, democratic centralism was rejected. KSČM crystallizes...
