Stability and convergence of numerical computations

This thesis deals with the distributed and stochastic algorithms, including testing their convergence in networks. The theoretical part briefly describes above mentioned algorithms, including their division, problems, advantages and disadvantages. Futhermore, two distributed algorithms and two stochastic algorithms are chosen. The practical part is done by comparing the speed of convergence on various network topologies in MATLAB.
Speculative Evolution: Anatomical and Physiological Specifics of Organisms Inhabiting Super-Earths
Šefrna, Radek ; Toman, Jan (advisor) ; Petrásek, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis focuses on super-Earth-like planets, specifically addressing how a larger radius and gravitational attraction, sometimes associated with increased atmospheric density, could affect the direction of anagenesis if other parameters are kept at the terrestrial level. Firstly, super- Earth characteristics are described. Secondly, locomotion and its anatomical and physiological correlates are examined. It concludes that organisms living on the surface would have robust body structure and expects prevalence of the biosphere to exist in the air column on super- Earths with dense atmosphere with organisms resembling ocean life on Earth. Lastly, the thesis investigates life strategies and their potential dependencies on gravitational and surface characteristics, with an emphasis on energy acquisition methods, metabolism, and dispersion. With the existence of complex ecosystem reliant on photosynthesis, existence of ecological niches similar to the ones found on Earth is expected. That could lead to the genesis of symbioses, as they seem to be a universal feature of any biosphere. Due to its speculative nature, the thesis draws conclusions from studies on terrestrial organisms and their environment. It adheres to the phenomenon of convergent evolution to find possible analogies and show potential...
Dopady finanční krize na konvergenci administrativních oblastí Itálie
Vetýšková, Nela
Vetýšková, N. Effects of the financial crisis on the convergence of administrative regions of Italy. Thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2023. The diploma thesis examines the influence of the financial and economic crisis of 2008-2009 on the convergence of the Italian regions defined at the NUTS 2 level. Trends in the convergence of the regions are identified using beta analysis of cross-sectional and panel data and sigma analysis. The results show that in the period before the crisis (1995-2008) convergent forces prevailed, and after the crisis (2009-2018) the trend reversed, and the regions diverged. Cluster analysis for the years 2005 and 2012, confirmed the division of Italy into a more "advanced" north and a "backward" south. The development of individual regions over time is also described using important macroeconomic indicators, such as the gross domestic product, the level of education, the unemployment rate, the average monthly wage and the share of industry in the gross added value.
Uneven Development of the World Economy
Bílý, Boris ; Pavlínek, Petr (advisor) ; Ženka, Jan (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with inequalities within the Word economic development. The development is conceived in the context of world systems theory for the proper evaluation of this development. The question, whether there is a convergence or divergence across countries and groups of countries is an important question of contemporary studies of globalization. While proponents of modernization theory tend to say that countries converge, adherents of world systems theory mostly think the opposite. Another contribution of this work is the evaluation of economic development not based only on the production capabilities and growth. The approach is more complex and includes the development of the society as a whole. Therefore, Human development index was used for analysis and the researched period was set to 1980-2014 due to data availability. The analysis deals not only with inequalities between the parts of the world system, but partially also with inequalities within these parts. The theoretical part consists of discussion of the existing studies of world systems and economic development and explains the necessary terms and context. Practical part is made of own regionalization of the world into three parts of the world system (core, semiperiphery and periphery) based on criteria chosen according to...
Comparison of different approaches of selected Czech media to online formats depending on corporate convergence
Řepková, Andrea ; Jirků, Jan (advisor) ; Trunečka, Ondřej (referee)
The diploma thesis Comparison of Approaches to Online Formats in Selected Czech Media Depending on Corporate Convergence deals with the question of how the approach of selected Czech daily newspapers Mladá fronta Dnes, Deník Právo and Hospodářské noviny to their associated online news servers differs. Since the chosen media share a common characteristic, which is their originally purely print format, the author first describes the concept of media convergence, the process of media internetisation, explains the concept of digitalisation and the economic principles of media. As part of the research, the author first conducts a content analysis of texts published in the print versions of the media, which she then searches for on a news server and compars. The author also conducts three semi-structured interviews with representatives of the selected media. From the data obtained, it can be concluded that the situation is different in each of the media, both in most of the categories of content analysis examined and in the functioning of the newsrooms themselves. The editorial office of Hospodářské noviny is identical in terms of personnel to the editorial office of HN.cz, while the editorial offices of Mladá fronta Dnes and iDnes.cz are two different editorial offices, which, however, cooperate...
Authorship and Photography in the Context of Web 2.0: Product in the Hands of Produsers
Novák, Vojtěch ; Fišerová, Michaela (advisor) ; Michalovič, Peter (referee) ; Slušná, Zuzana (referee)
AUTHORSHIP AND PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE CONTEXT OF WEB 2.0: PRODUCT IN THE HANDS OF PRODUSERS Author: Mgr. Vojtěch Novák This PhD thesis is concentrated on the topic of authorship and photography in the context of web 2.0. As a part of the methodological approach, it uses the method of new media epistemology. It explains the shift from barthesian poststructuralist viewer towards Bruns' produser and also clarifies why the sovereignty of the author is in the context of web 2.0 irrecoverably overcomed. In relation to foucauldian terminology, it presents the concept of dispositif of web 2.0 as a change of social praxis and it points out the necessity of the abandonment of techno-optimism. Subsequently, it concentrates on the topic of authorship and photography from the perspective of the authorial law and it introduces the concept of the quasi-product while using several study cases in order to explain it. Eventually, it summarizes the overall findings and suggests the possible foundation for the further research.

Jerman, Petr ; Švelch, Jan (advisor) ; Švelch, Jaroslav (referee)
The thesis focuses on the topic of the convergence of esports and streaming on the Czech gaming scene. Its aim is to find specific areas and activities which connect the two seemingly different, but closely linked areas of media entertainment and video game industry. The theoretical part presents the phenomena of esport and streaming, including both their unique connecting and dividing elements. The thesis focuses primarily on the role of streamers and streaming platforms in esports, but also on their common connection to media entertainment and creative work in digital or video game culture. In the research section, the data is collected using in-depth semi-structured interviews focused on streamers and esports participants or employees who have experience or operate within both industries. Subsequent data analysis and final discussion answer the established research questions. It thus uncovers common areas and activities that contribute to the convergence of esports and streaming. The thesis also addresses monetization methods as well as the current situation and working conditions in the Czech esports environment. The presented results point to the mutual cooperation between the two sectors, with an emphasis on the more independent role of streaming compared to esports, which in turn tries to...
Politická satira na sociálních sítích
MENCLOVÁ, Tereza
The bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of ridicule of politics and politicians in the current media environment. Due to the rapid changes in the media landscape and the new possibilities of the Internet, the relationship between the media and democracy has changed. This also reshaped the character of political satire. The theoretical part explains the relationship between the media and democracy. Subsequently, attention is paid to the changes that satire has undergone, not only from a historical point of view but also from the wave of digitization. The phenomenon of the last few years, the so-called usergenerated satire, which is a satire spread by media users (prosumers), is also explained in more detail. The practical part is focused on the description of the Czech Instagram satirical account TMBK. The aim of the work is to show on the example typical features for prosumer content and to summarize a new kind of satire.
