Context-Aware Notification Filter for Android
Jaklovský, Samuel ; Špaňhel, Jakub (referee) ; Szentandrási, István (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is to develop an application for devices running Android which will determine user profile, based on obtained context, and apply user pre-defined sound settings for this profile. The thesis contains a description of common theory and design of user interface which was implemented as fully operational application. The application uses Naive Bayes classifier and Decision tree for determining the user profile. The functionality of the application was successfully tested by twenty users. The average ratings in the questionnaires were about eight and a half points from a possible maximum of ten. These results can be considered successful.
New Embankments - Urban Redevelopment of Selected Area along the River Svitava in Brno
Pišová, Linda ; Sátora, Josef (referee) ; Kopáčik, Gabriel (advisor)
The project follows two previous semesters when the analysis of river Svitavy in Brno was elaborated together with colleagues Lenka Gulačovou and Zdeňka Sedláková. It dealt with the river's values and potential problems and subsequent recovery. Important aspect of the thesis is that it does not have the traditional form of urban study. The project extends into the theoretical plane, which is dedicated to the waterfront, the river in an urban environment and in particular to the issues of brownfields, that are substantial for the area of Svitava river. For this work I chose a site located close to the northern edge of the city (Obřany, Maloměřice, Husovice). Three sites are selected, their central motifs are islands and brownfields. Both of these phenomena have their values, problems, but also large potential. At selected locations (Obřany, Maloměřice, Husovice) I try to illustrate the options that are presented in the form of interventions. Selected locations continually follow each other and are connected by a series of interventions that improve the quality of the space.
Emotion Detection from Speech
Popková, Anna ; Fér, Radek (referee) ; Matějka, Pavel (advisor)
This Bachelor Thesis deals with research in the field of emotion recognition mainly from speech and marginally from other modalities (video and physiological data). It closely describes the topology of the systems built specifically for the subject of this work. Moreover, it describes experiments leading to optimized pre-processing, regressor training and post-processing. Data used for these research origins from evaluation AV+EC 2015. Results of fusion systems producing the most precise prediction were sent to this evaluation. The Bottle-Neck features are newly tested and combined favorably with commonly used eGeMAPS features for the recognition of arousal. For valence, two kinds of video features are used. Muli-task system (recognizing both valence and arousal) using Bottle-Neck features produces competitive results and is only 13 % relatively behind the mentioned fusion system. This is especially appealing for applications where only audio is available.
Visions for Krnov
Moravcová, Sofia ; Mašek, Radomír (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
The Library is a place, which convey knowledge and information to the general public. It should be a place for a person to immerse oneself, but also provide space for communities. With these things in mind I proceeded to design this building.
Gap options (třída Kapitána Jaroše, Brno, CZ)
Zezulka, Jiří ; Zhoř, Přemysl (referee) ; Toman, Radek (advisor)
The 2579 m project works with the context of the plot in the courtyard. The theatre, the blank space, the pedestrian route, the parking lot and the greenery, including the users, are elements that form a functional organism of which the designed plot is a part. After assessing the quality of its functionality, the question arises to what extent an intervention on the scale of a single house can affect the rigid program of an inner courtyard that has been organically shaped over decades. Improve, expand or change? The resulting architecture influences the environment into which it is inserted, and is equally influenced by it. How strong these influences will be, and in what direction they will evolve, we can only partially moderate. Architecture is not about finding solutions, architecture is a response to specific situations. The design therefore does not look for ways to change the individual elements functionally, but for ways to develop and improve them spatially in the interest of the whole organism of the courtyard. It follows the already laid out simplified geometries in which the functions take place, such as vectors and surfaces, which it respects, preserves, extends and connects. The object of the house itself deals with housing in the context of current development and its issues. Used and owned, individual and utilitarian, finished and open, sustainable and generous, rural and urban,... And other slogans have guided the process that has led to the creation of a solid slab structure with embedded volumes for housing and other functions, allowing for future changes of use without the need to interfere with the structure. Unlike the metabolic idea of unified prefabricated cells, the transformation of the embedded volumes is carried out civilly in situ.
Quality testing of existing computer fonts
Hryshkavets, Darya
This thesis deals with tools for font analysis available in Context. In the first part, there are briefly described some existing modules available in Context and some of them are selected if they are suitable for font quality testing. In the next part these modules are analyzed in detail and the important commands are documented. There was also created a new module containing some of these commands which are improved and some new ones. In the last part, a manual documenting the new module and its commands was created.
Iconographic decoration of the Portmoneum in Litomyšl in context of Váchal's symbolic work
MICHALINOVÁ, Denisa
This Bachelor thesis focuses on iconographical characterisation and the analysis of the Portmoneum, that is located in Litomyšl. The decor of the current museum of Josef Váchal and decyphering the symbols used in this house is followed by the analysis of author's other work and placing the artist into the historical context of his time. The research of the Portmoneum's murals that I put into context with Vachal's total work using a comparative method is crucial in this thesis. Decyption of these hidden symbols and search for similar themes and their following analysis reprezents an important part of this thesis. Outside Litomyšl this thesis also deals with the complicated personality of Josef Váchal, his life, his art and starting points, with the figure of the passionate collector Josef Portman and their mutual relation oscillating between friendship and misunderstanding. The thehis focuses on particual art pieces across the artistic spectrum, in which the topics of mystical and spiritual nature can be found. These topics are present throughout his rich work and they become a common feature connecting his work.
Present-Day English Equivalents of the Czech Concept of ´cesta´ and Their Collocational Restrictions.
HAJNÁ, Jitka
This diploma thesis consists of two parts: the theoretical part focuses on linguistic terms as synonymy, synonymic group, synonymic dominant, collocation, context etc. The exact specification of these terms serves as a background for practical analysis of extracted examples. The purpose of the practical part is a detailed analysis of the most frequented synonyms of the notion of ´cesta´ in present-day English and their collocational restrictions. The research is based on information acquired both from theorethical sources and from various authentic English texts written in the past 50 years.
Quantitative analysis of decorative elements´ presence to assess contextuality and a façade’s’ architectural quality in the historical city centre: Case study Brno
Kalouda, Petr
This paper is focused on the creation of the definition of a building façade´s´ architectural quality in the context of the surrounding buildings. The region was chosen because of the required buildings´ insulation. It´s presence will be confronted with the traditional use of architectural language. Reduction of the facade´s traditional elements will be evaluated by using simplified architectural composition categories. Positive and negative examples of the design will be determined.
"New" role of an object in "object art" and "art of instalation"
Holubcová, Klára ; Bláha, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kornatovský, Jiří (referee)
Submitted graduation theses offer different views of questions relating to an object (thing) in the "object art". The foundation of the "object art" brought a "new" role of an object. It does mean that the border of an art types are no more close, as well as life and art are now transparent. We can find qualitative changes in a various ways of treatment of an object. I saw these changes in according to four basic criteria: meaning, material, form and function. Another centre line of the text are overlaps of fine art and applied art, which detects common tendences in both spheres.
