Utilization of accelerated durability test of wood glued joints for consequent service-life prediction
Šmíra, David ; Tupý, Michael (referee) ; Vaněrek, Jan (advisor)
The aim of my diploma thesis are methods which are able to describe durability aspects of glued wooden joints. The main objective are methods which primarily includes hygrothermal stress acting in the glued joint of wooden adherend and determine the service life of the specific glued joint by modelling based on Arrhenius relation and the other methods. Other part of this work is aimed to shear tests of the samples exposed to different thermal and humidity conditions and for individual sets of exposures determining the glue penetration depth into the wooden adherend by EPI fluorescent analysis. These analytic methods are used for quality check of the glued joints, which are mostly based on strength, chemical or structural parameters of the tested sample.
Adhesion of Adhesive Joints for Facade Applications Made of Wood-based Materials
Nečasová, Barbora ; Schmid, Pavel (referee) ; Sedlák,, Petr (referee) ; Kovářová, Barbora (advisor)
The presented dissertation thesis is focused on investigating the adhesive properties of façade cladding made of wood and wood-based materials in combination with flexible adhesion/assembly systems. The systems allow the implementation of effective construction joints and provide a solution with uniform stress distribution which allows the transfer of heavy loads, while simultaneously reducing the weight of the entire structure, which is also often connected with substantial cost reductions. Despite all that, little attention has been paid to this area so far. It is not a solution which is properly embodied in technical standards or in designers´, architects´ and contractors´ awarenesses. The aim of this dissertation is to characterise adhesive properties of selected façade cladding representatives made of wood and wood-based materials for the purposes of bonded joint application in a ventilated façade system. To define adhesion of façade joints, numerical and experimental methods are used, taking also various limit conditions into account. The main conclusion of the dissertation is the characterisation of basic parameters which influence adhesion, effectiveness and quality of façade glued joints. The secondary conclusion is the compilation of a simple methodical procedure for testing and implementing façade glued joints. The dissertation also makes a contribution by extending the current state of knowledge of façade adhesive joints.

The dissertation thesis is focused of the method of testing the building sealnats. This is a summary of the research focused on the evaluation of sealants in interaction with the underlying materials. Attention is focused on the official test methods contained in European technical standards, the benefits of individual methods, their advantages and disadvantages are discussed. Also included are the overall findings of the practical application of the test procedures applied to 10 commercially available industrial sealants on 8 different substrates, including facade lining boards used for lightweight envelope systems. The dissertation thesis contains general conclusions about individual test methods. The research also includes various ways of preparing and conditioning test specimens that simulate different environmental conditions and, in some cases, play a crucial role in the final evaluation of sealants.
Bonding of 3D printed PET-G parts
Maxa, Ondřej ; Kupčák, Radim (referee) ; Zemčík, Oskar (advisor)
This bachelor thesis solves the problem of gluing PET-G material, which is used for printing 3D models in 3D printers. The goal is to select and then test the adhesive suitable for bonding the material. The suitability of the recommended adhesives was determined on the basis of standardized tests on experimental blasting equipment. Based on the measurement results, it is suitable to use one-component instant adhesives for gluing PET-G material, the advantage of which is easy handling and quickly achievable handling strength.
The development of composites based on inorganic binders designed for the extreme applications
Janoušek, Petr ; Šácha, Libor (referee) ; Dufka, Amos (advisor)
The topic of this master's thesis is the development of composite materials based on inorganic binders for use in extreme conditions. It means especially geopolymeric or alkali activated materials (AAM) based composites. The theoretical part of this thesis summarizes knowledges about the development and use of alkali-activated materials, their structure and mechanisms of their formation. It also deals with the applicable raw materials for AAM and their exciters, which are in particular water glass and sodium hydroxide. There also have been a summary of the effects of high temperatures and chemicals on the mechanical properties of AAM and the requirements of standard EN 1504-3 for repairing materials. The task of the practical part was to develop a repair mortar for concrete structures based on AAM so that its production was as simple as possible, ie one-component materials. Gradually six recipes have been develeoped. Test specimens made from these recipes have been putted to selected tests according to the requirements of ČSN EN 1504-3.
Complex conjunctives and their impact on cohesion and coherence in upper-secondary students' semi-formal essays
Kloučková, Julie ; Pípalová, Renata (advisor) ; Nádraská, Zuzana (referee)
The thesis aims to explore the usage of complex conjunctives in upper-secondary students' semi-formal essays. It deals with written discourse produced by two groups of students of B1 and B2 (CEFR) levels, uncovers the differences in their use, explores their impact on cohesion and coherence and looks at the students' understanding of these concepts. In total, 40 essays in two B1 and B2 subcorpora are analysed through a corpus analysis tool inspired by the framework of Halliday and Hasan. Prior to that, analyses of writing sections in three students' books from the perspective of Teachability Hypothesis and Processability Model are conducted to establish the potential frequency and conjunctive type scale. Both qualitative and quantitative analyses showed that upper-intermediate students employ more complex conjunctives than intermediate students, even though the difference is not substantial. The data also indicate that both groups prefer initial sentence placements to the medial positions, and that additives are used over adversatives. Furthermore, the analyses uncovered surprising results, for example, in the area of paragraph-initially and paragraph- internally used conjunctives. The research shows that complex conjunctives are essential in semi-formal and formal writings and that especially...
