Water world - spa Krnov
Janák, Lukáš ; Svatošová, Ivana (referee) ; Boháč, Ivo (advisor)
Diploma thesis is proposing a new desing of Baths for the city of Krnov. This task comes from official architectural competition and it was chosen because of previous experience with simillar projects in bachelor´s study program. The main goal is to create a whole new year-round area not only with swimming pool services, but also for entertainment, relaxation, and summer sport activities. The design respects the meander of the Opavice River and is using the current outside swimming pool as a starting compositional element. The basic idea is to create perspective axes which would connect the Krnov historical architecture landmarks of the city (Svatý Kopeček, the Pilgrimage Church of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows in Civilina, Krnov Town Hall, Evangelical Church, St. Martin's Church and the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary) with the proposal area. The fundumental idea is to guide these axes in such a way that they would line the mass of the existing healthy greenery, and simultaneously they are shaping the form of a new bath building. Bathing facilities are designed to communicate as much as possible with the waterfront and the adjacent land for sports and physical education. The shape of the wave allows for maximum supply of sunlight from the outside, while inside it helps to orientate within the space naturally and create optimal space for individual operations. The internal operation of the baths is divided into three basic zones - sports zone (swimming pool), sports and recreation zone (aquapark) and recreation and relaxation zone (SPA and wellness). The basic principle is the balance of mind and body, which, thanks to the structure of bathing operations is calming the mind and simultaneously physically burden the body in one direction and vice versa in the other. The result is a bathing complex focused mainly on swimming and sports activities which is reaction to its history. Other activities are indoor/outdoor sauna, whirlpool, massage, gym, aquapark, restaurant, accommodation, which serve visitors as one open compact space that they can walk through.
Roman spa and sauna world
Adamcová, Lenka ; Myslín,, Jiří (referee) ; Dýr, Petr (advisor)
This Master's thesis takes a look at the construction of the new Roman baths and sauna world with adjacent premises, all connected to the premises in the section TG02, such as the water park, restaurant, administration and rehabilitation. The plot of land intended for the implementation is situated in an undeveloped area in the urban district of Zidenice on the outskirts of the city of Brno. The entire complex of buildings forms a wave landscape with a cube as the centrepiece symbolizing water in a quarry and the reaction to the neighbouring Růženin quarry. The buildings also react to significant visual axes, one of which is the view from the Hady quarry, another of the Hady access roads. Emphasis is also placed on the views from the Roman baths, simultaneously preserving the privacy of visitors. Entrance to the two-storey Roman baths and sauna world is possible from the communal changing rooms in the water park, but also separately. The Sauna world located on the first floor is lit by an atrium that connects it with the Roman baths on the second floor. There are eight dry saunas from different corners of the world, various cold-zones, three massage rooms and three relaxation rooms. A relaxing swimming pool and a fountain in the seating area of the saunabar are significant elements of the central space. Located inside the Roman baths are nine heating rooms all of different temperatures and moisture levels, a large cooling room, and a small swimming pool with an adjacent jacuzzi in the central area, both with beautiful views. From this section, you can walk out onto the adjacent terrain, where there is a large outdoor swimming pool and sauna. There is a polarium, a private spa, a small spa shop, massages and special baths each with their own entrance. On the third floor there is accommodation, a conference room and a fitness centre.

Re-creation of a roman bath complex at Pollena Trocchia
Souček, Josef ; Musil, Jiří (advisor) ; Titz, Pavel (referee)
Roman baths were discovered in Pollena Trocchia on the northern side of Vesuvius. They can be labelled as private for their size and location and they probably belonged to a rich villa. This and the fact that they were built shortly after the A.D. 79 eruption makes them a rather rare specimen for study of development of Roman baths in the area. The baths are exceptionally well preserved and rare details of construction and functionality can be found, from the design phase, which can be seen in form of 1:1 plan carved on bricks forming the hypocaust floor, to the water and heating technologies. These details are followed in this thesis and the original form and modus operandi of the baths is reconstructed. The baths are also compared to selected published specimens from Campania and the rest of the Roman world. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

At the same time, it is located in a quiet environment with attractive views of the Yellow Hill and Špilberk Castle.
Spa in the Czech Republic. With a focus on spa Jeseník, Luhačovice, Třeboň and Františkovy Lázně
Němčík, Lukáš ; Duffková, Jana (advisor) ; Jandová, Dobroslava (referee)
Spa in the Czech Republic With a focus on spa Jeseník, Luhačovice, Třeboň and Františkovy Lázně As the subject of my work I chose the Czech Republic spa. I look at the spa environment as a social phenomenon that affects many areas of social life and has a great tradition in Czech culture. With its unique atmosphere and the composition of the clients who visit them, they are more than just popular places by tourists or health facilities but they have also influence on the life of the living there and spa visitors. The work is intended to serve as a general base that could be suitable for further exploration of this area, and therefore tries to cover as many areas of the issue as possible. I try to work with examples from history to point out the role of the spa in the past and how they gradually transformed into what they are today. I also look at services that are offered at the spa and the structure of clients who come to the spa. My field of interest was also the formation of spa towns and life in them. This area is distinguished from others for a large number of changing spa clients. In my work I also did a probe between clients and employees of spa Jeseník, Luhačovice, Třeboň and Františkovy Lázně. With it, I was able to outline some of the differences between the various spas. Thermal baths Yverdon, five senses in architecture
Pospíšil, Tomáš ; Uřídilová, Marcela (referee) ; Koleček, Ivan (advisor)
Peace in the shadow of the trees. A spring coming up from depths. The spa park is an island at the edge of the town. It is the highest value of its surroundings. That is why I place the volume of the spa on the side of the park along the road. There is a promenade connecting the constituent elements of the building. Full, heavy masses alternate with airy and bright ones. The park grows through the buildings, and in this way the spa and the park become closely intertwined. The interweaving of the built and the natural as the central theme of the project.

Nováková, Michaela ; Uřídilová, Marcela (referee) ; Koleček, Ivan (advisor)
The theme of two year masters programme was five senses in architecture. The final project is thermal baths in swiss town Yverdon Les Bains, where are currenctly situated baths which do not meet the spa requirements in terms of capacity, operation or eastetics. The aim of the project is not only to design the new spa building, but also to solve miserable situation of the site, to develop the topic of spa in a park, the relationship to the historical buildings of rotunda, hotel and villa Entremont and to solve the spacial organization of the bath house itself, which is both for relaxation and healing. Part of the project is also to expand the accomodation capacity into the new hotel building.
