E-commerce development study and future expectations in Albania
Buçpapaj, Etla ; Pavlíček, Antonín (advisor) ; Böhmová, Lucie (referee)
The aim of this master thesis is to analyze the local Albanian market of e-commerce and to determine the customer behavior of Albanians toward local e-commerce providers. Several studies have been conducted for developed countries. However, there is a research gap in the same studies regarding the developing countries. That is the reason why this thesis considers one of the smallest and on continues developing countries of Europe: Albania. In a fast growing globalized world where the internet is a leading engine, e-commerce is a must for businesses that want to compete and retain customers. Local businesses struggle every day to survive and to have profit in an economy which is globally oriented, and the movement of goods is easier than ever. A questionnaire was designed online using Google form and was distributed online via a social network as the target respondents are online customers. There were 300 relevant answers received from 19-25 March 2017. There is also included a case study in this thesis, analyzing one of the biggest local e-commerce providers in Albania which offers B2C and B2B sales. The results of the questionnaire and the case study show that the customer behavior is influenced by various factors: lack of trust, national culture, online shopping experience, exposure to the internet, infrastructure, family, marketing, etc.
Problems of Balkan Candidate Countries that are slowing their integration into the EU
Zelenková, Gabriela ; Šístek, František (advisor) ; Hofmeisterová, Karin (referee)
The European Union's leading policies undoubtedly include integration policy. Since its inception, the European Union has grown several times and is now being counted With the accession of other states. It is the candidate countries of the Western Balkans that will be crucial for my analysis. In our work we will focus on discovering and analyzing the main obstacles of these countries, which are responsible for the slowing of the integration process. The problems faced by these states on their way to the European Union are numerous. Since they are states of one region, many problems are common, but despite the fact that the European Union does not form themselves as a single entity and the admission of one of the states to the European Union, that is to say the acceptance of other states as well. Although they have many problem points in common, each country has its own specific problems that slow down this integration process.

NATO enlargement to Western Balkans and its strategic importance
Tesařová, Šárka ; Karásek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Karmazin, Aleš (referee)
This Bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of the development of the integration of Albania and Croatia into NATO structures. The first part describes the NATO open door policy along with the accession criteria and accession process. The key part is the analysis of whether and how the candidate states have fulfilled the established accession criteria based on the criteria of the NATO Enlargement Study, focusing in particular on selected factors - national political situation, public opinion, defence expenditure, professionalism, interoperability, diplomatic relations and cooperation with NATO, involvement in missions and relations with neighbouring states. It also examines the strategic interests of NATO in the Western Balkan region, and NATO may have been motivated by an attempt to strengthen its position in the Balkans. The outcome of the thesis is the assessment of the preparedness of the individual candidate states, where neither Albania nor Croatia fully met the accession criteria and the final decision of NATO was therefore more based on political judgment and strategy in the Balkans.
The Witch character in Albanian culture in comparison with other Balkan States
Nushiová, Suzana ; Otčenášek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Vinš, Přemysl (referee)
The thesis looks into Albanian folklore. It familiarizes the reader with the character of a witch in Albanian environment throughout fairytales, stories and other genres of folk literature. The main focus is on the role of a witch in the stories and its general description. The main goal of my theses is to compare this perception with other Balkan states and find out, how much the imaginations about a witch in Balkan states differ or contrariwise correspond. Simultaneously I will try to analyze in which kinds of folklore the character of a witch occurs. Finally the focus will lead to the reception of the character of a witch in neighbouring areas and also in Albanian artistic literature and modern life.
National identity of Albanian emigrants in Prague
Stehlíková, Barbora ; Šatava, Leoš (advisor) ; Šalanda, Bohuslav (referee)
The target of this bachelor thesis is research of national identity of Albanian migrants in Prague and its manifestation. The research is carried out with the biographical method, by which the researcher focuses much more on the life of a particular person. The narrative episodic interviews are used and the greatest space is given to the narrator. Afterwards the texts obtained by this way are interpretated properly. In addition to the analysis of the interviews this paper encompass the summary of the literature engaged with the Albanians in Czech Republic. Furthermore there is the description of the biographical method, whereas it stems from the essays of Petra Klvačová and Zdeněk Konopásek. The theoretical determination of the basic terms like "identity", "national identity" and "ethnic identity" follows and then the brief review of the historical development in Albania and Kosovo. The less attention is paid to the relationship between the migrant and the city. We attained to the conclusion that the national identity of the all seven informants represents one of the possible subidentities, which moves on the imaginery web in the bigger distance from the centre than other aspects presented by the informants. These aspects were e. g. job or some hobby.
Between Liberal Policies and Conservative Values: The Role of the EU in Improving Sexual Minority Rights in Albania
Vinther, Christian Kjaelder ; Šístek, František (advisor) ; Žíla, Ondřej (referee)
Master Thesis by Christian K. Vinther, Charles University, Prague (77110981) 21/05/2015 Between Liberal Policies and Conservative Values: The Role of the EU in Improving Sexual Minority Rights in Albania Abstract In 2009 the People's Advocate in Albania announced their suggestion that Albania should become the first Balkan country to legalize gay marriage, a suggestion backed by the country's Prime Minister Sali Berisha. The odd thing is that this suggestion was presented in the same country voted the "most homophobic in Europe" according to a recent study, and simultaneously the suggestion came at a time when Albania did not even have an anti-discrimination law, and, assumingly, at a time when LGBT activist groups seemed more or less nonexistent. Since 2009, Albania has progressed severely in relation to LGBT matters, and the small Balkan country has adopted noteworthy liberal sexual minority policies. Yet, as stated above, this appears as a rather paradoxical fact, since homophobia in Albania appears widespread, and since it could be questioned why a country would even need to legalize gay marriage, since the gay population are unlikely to benefit from this kind of legislation, due to the harassment and marginalization of this particular minority group. The mismatch between the conservative values in...
Formation of free press in Albania afterfall of communism
Váchalová, Milada ; Cebe, Jan (advisor) ; Köpplová, Barbara (referee)
The Master thesis focuses itself on establishment and development of free press and other media in Albania during the period since the fall of communism till today. Along with the gradual losing of power of communist regime since 1990 that culminated in 1992 by the establishment of democratic government, new era of Albanian media started, an era filled by dynamic changes and twists that have impact on the media up to these days. The aim of the author is to describe this development and to assess how Albanian media faced it and thus influenced current shape and functioning of the media market. Apart from describing the media scene in the 1990s and 2000s, specifically the establishment and development of main Albanian media as well as political and economic situation of the country, the main goal of the thesis lies in assessing the degree of independence of current Albanian press and describing of work conditions of local journalists. The main source to do that were the interviews conducted with Albanian journalists commenting mainly the issues of freedom of speech and press in their own country as well as conditions of their everyday work and thus revealing functioning of media and other sectors in this Balkan country.
Causes and Ethnic Features of Conflict in Albania in 1997
Řezáčová, Veronika ; Králová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Pikal, Kamil (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the primary and secondary causes and possible features of the riots in Albania in 1997. As the primary cause of the conflict the crash of the pyramid schemes and the subsequent economic collapse are identified. The thesis aims to prove that the first step toward the conflict was made earlier. The lack of democratic transformation and dysfunctional state apparatus after the fall of communism has become a prerequisite for the outbreak of the conflict. From March 1992 to June 1997 the Democratic Party reigned under the leadership of Sali Berisha. Since the post-communist transformation took place mainly in the first half of the nineties, it is assumed that the Democratic Party with Sali Berisha was instrumental in the emergence of the conflict. The hypothesis is that President Berisha not only caused, but also deliberately deepened the conflict. Two Albanian ethnicities Ghegs and Tosks play an important role in determining the causes of the conflict. Their relations are not completely idyllic and during the historic events rivalry and tension have frequently resurfaced. In the time of communism problems between Ghegs and Tosks were pushed into the background and therefore the thesis assumes that during the post-communist transformation disputes between Ghegs and Tosks...
