Validity of Direct Measurement of Stated Willingness to Pay in the Context of Fair Trade
Mičínová, Veronika ; Remr, Jiří (advisor) ; Hendl, Jan (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with validity of direct measurement of stated willingness to pay (WTP) in the fair trade context based on two-phase measurement applied in the INESAN survey. Attention is also paid to the unit of answer to an open-ended question and to the functionality of WTP as an indicator of purchase intent. First, fair trade, the concept of WTP with focus on areas of its application, ways of measurement, critics and problems of its use are introduced from the theoretical perspective. Further, cognitive aspects of the process of answering survey questions as a way of testing the functionality of a measurement tool are analyzed. The thesis is built on a combination of two survey methods, cognitive interviews and secondary analysis of quantitative data. It concludes that measuring WTP for the purpose of capturing the value of fair trade using direct stated method of measurement is problematic as numerous risks with impact on validity of acquired data appear. Those risks concern both the particular way of measurement and the direct stated WTP measurement in general, starting with ambiguous interpretation of WTP questions for a fair trade product among respondents. The thesis also shows that answering open-ended question in the form of percentage is cognitively more demanding than in the...
Determinants of generic drug substitution in the Czech Republic
Žílová, Pavlína ; Votápková, Jana (advisor) ; Bryndová, Lucie (referee)
This study uses logistic regression to estimate the probability of choosing the brand-name drug despite the presence of cheaper generics given patient and drug characteristics in the Czech pharmaceutical market in the period 2009-2013. Results of the analysis may help guide policies to decrease pharmaceutical costs. In order to motivate people who are more likely to choose the original version of drug, policy makers may impose higher copayments and lower subsidies on the original drugs which they use. Additionally, two supplementary analyses were applied to sub-sectors of the pharmaceutical market: antihypertensive drugs and antibiotics. Fixed effects logistic regression is employed to test the robustness of the results.
Analysis of the institutional framework for management of selected ecosystems in the Eastern Ore Mountains
Kratochvíl, Martin ; Louda, Jiří (advisor) ; Osersová, Marta (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze and calculate the economic value of selected ecosystem services in the Eastern Ore Mountains and then analyze together with quantitative research, which was held simultaneously with the data collection survey. Selected ecosystems are typical for the Eastern Ore Mountains and provide recreational and aesthetic function. Contingent valuation method and method of choice experiment are used to calculate the economic value. The analysis of qualitative research is carried out by institutional analysis. Contingent valuation method is used to determine the willingness to pay for preserving the aesthetic function of mountain meadows in the Eastern Ore Mountains. Quantifying the economic value together with qualitative research may help to define tools for maintenance management of ecosystems that help to protect, maintain or restore ecosystem. Some methods of evaluation of environmental goods and institutional analysis are described in the theoretical section. The practical part is focused on the results of a questionnaire survey with a qualitative interpretation of the results.
Factors leading consumers to environmentally and socially responsible behaviour
Descubes, Irena ; Soukup, Jindřich (advisor) ; Dvořáček, Jiří (referee) ; Machková, Hana (referee)
What are the key antecedents, factors and moderators that influence environmentally friendly and socially responsible consumer behaviour? Individual consumers buy products and services not only for their intrinsic satisfactory functionalities. They make their consumption choices also because of specific extrinsic products/service abilities to affirm their lifestyle choice, i.e. enhance their self-concepts and satisfy their psychological needs. Given that despite the recent increase of interest in sustainable consumer behaviour, little is known on sustainable consumer aspirations, this study aims at filling the research gap in this area of academic research. This study investigates ad hoc literature in Lifestyle Strategic Marketing, Branding, Social Psychology and Self-Concept Theory applicable in Green and Fair Trade Operational Marketing . Mixed research methods are used in three distinct studies: (a) laboratory experiment, (b) SurveyMonkeyTM online questionnaire analyzed quantitatively, and (c) SPSS and SEM software data management and analysis. They are conducted in France and based on the common research models, i.e. the Theory of reasoned action (TRA) founded by Fishbein & Ajzen (1975) and the Theory of planned behaviour (TPB) coined by Ajzen (1991). Specific attitudes towards environmentally friendly and fair-trade products and services are derived from Value sets, Awareness of Consequences beliefs and Environmental Concern evaluations; therefore in the third partial study we adapt the research model proposed by Hansla et al. (2008). In all of them is employed a convenience sampling method that allows to gather between 109 and 350 respondents. Results allow for identification of salient factors influencing consumer purchasing intention and willingness to adopt and pay for both environmentally friendly and socially responsible products and/or services.

Kubíčková, Klára ; Kislingerová, Eva (advisor) ; Römerová, Eva (referee)
This master's thesis deals with the valuation of cultural institution the Oskar Nedbal Theatre in Tabor and its aim is to estimate the value of this theatre to 30th June 2012 for the purpose of its founder the South Bohemian Region and compare this value with a subsidy paid to the theatre as a contributory organization. The value of the organization is determined by the method of contingent valuation based on the question related to people's willingness to pay for the preservation of the theatre and supplemented by Victor S. Yocco method for measuring three factors of the hypothetical value. The issue of cultural institutions valuation is not yet much explored area and mainly in the Czech Republic has not yet been comprehensively worked out and this thesis offers a practical view on one of the possible methods of valuing cultural goods and organizations.

Evaluation of the Impact of Wind Turbines on a Landscape
Urbášková, Martina ; Melichar, Jan (advisor) ; Kaprová, Kateřina (referee)
The goal of the work is to provide monetary valuation of changes in visual aspects of the landscape as a result of construction of an additional wind turbine in the village Maletín. For a suitable method for achieving the goal is being selected the contingent valuation method. A key element of this method is being considered the carefully compiled questionnaire, on which basis is made the quantification and evaluation of collected data. The representative sample consists of 112 households and the selected payment method is the increase of the monthly bill for electricity. The questionnaire reports that 54.3% of households consider the impact of wind turbines on the landscape Maletín to be positive. With the construction of additional wind turbine agree less than 74.3% of households and the most common reason is to obtain grants for the village and to produce cleaner energy from wind turbines. With the construction of new wind turbine while increasing monthly bill agrees 28.6% of all households living in the village Maletín. Estimation of changes in a welfare, thus improving the quality of the environment, is based on estimated central values, that has been calculated from selected characteristics and nonparametric estimation. The average household's willingness to pay for construction of wind turbine is estimated to be between 77 CZK - 200 CZK per month.
Valuation of ecosystem services on example of river alluvial land
Seják, J. ; Pokorný, J.
In the first decade of 21st century the concept of ecosystem services became one of the most frequently used, especially in interdisciplinary research activities tied with the Earth and life sciences. However, only slightly this concept penetrated into the real advanced market economies that consume decisive part of world natural resources and ecosystem services. In this paper the causes of current unsatisfactory situation in ecosystem service values implementation are analyzed, main valuation methods are described and specified on example of ecosystem services of river alluvial land. Two ecosystem methods developed in the CR are presented.
