It further deals with foreigners to be found in the Czech Republic and the very end includes information about the Emergency Medical Servis and paramedics. The practical part sets two subjectives. The first one is to determine the ability of a paramedic to communicate with a foreigner. The other to detect problems that might occur within such communication. The thesis uses the method of a semi-structured interview. The interviews were led with the Medical Rescue Servis of the South Bohemian Region´s paramedics and foreigners with no knowledge of the Czech language. The results were put in 5 and 9 categories, which helped to meet the objective. The results show that the interviewed paramedics are able to communicate with the foreigners by different means, sometimes with the help of various aids, their colleagues, witnesses of family members present at the place. The research also showed that the most common problem in communication with a foreigner is the language barrier. The main benefit of the thesis the awareness of problems that a paramedic can face in communication with foreigner and possible use various aids to make such communication easier.
Wearing Jewerly as a Performative Act
Stündlová, Barbora ; Fišerová, Michaela (advisor) ; Ivan, Michal (referee)
The concept or phenomenon od performativity occurs in different forms or terms in many humanity studies, especially in the second half of the 20th century. It interferes with linguistics, philosophy of thought, narratology, gender and cultural studies and even with epistemology and ethics. The notion of performativity appeared in philosophy and linguistics for the first time along with J. L. Austin's speech and perfomative acts. The first one describes the situation, the second one generates the situation. J. Derrida pointed out that the realization of speech acts and communication are not so obvious and depend on performance that maintains their status and identity. J. Derrida furthermore shows that performance does not only appear in the literary field; the law is for example performative in the sense that it sets itself up by a speech act. M. Foucault was interested of the role of performativity within a socially organized body and subjectivity. The performance of language and discourse is also essential in J. Butler's work which follows M. Foucault or J. Derrida and describes mechanisms for establishing gender subjectivity and physicality. She claims that the body is created simultaneously by the linguistic naming which it decribes. Butler writes up the process of gender differentiaton as...

Klíčová slova: neverbální komunikace, gesta, mimika, kultura This thesis concerns itself with forms of nonverbal communication in various cultures, most importantly with its main two forms - gestics and mimics. A great deal of attention is devoted to analysis of the interpretation of certain nonverbal means of communication in Czech scholarly publications, both original works and translations from other...

Nonverbal communication focused on gestures accompanying speech.
Bednaříková, Nikola ; Škvařilová, Božena (advisor) ; Blažek, Vladimír (referee)
In this thesis, gesticulation is presented in a context of nonverbal communication. It is likely that gestures preceded the birth of an articulated speech. Nevertheless even in the present, people convey information via gesticulation to their surroundings. This ability can be found at small children, gestures play the role of a speech precursor there. Human language is a codified form of diction. We can see every word as a symbol. The formal layout is available even for gesture communication. This happens in case that gesticulation stands for speech. If you want to share your thoughts via symbols it is relatively complicated. People can present their opinions and thoughts by gestures thought, that they do not have a stable form. These usually accompany a verbal speech. Gesticulation has a significance for both speakers and listeners. Benefits were formulated separately for each of them. It helps the speaker to keep his speech fluent, to decrease the cognitive strain and makes easier for him to formulate ideas, which he can not to express in words. The listener gains information about the topic, that he is told about. On top of this, gestures can express different information, that are not involved in verbal speech. This discrepancy between arm movements and speech is beneficial for both communicating partners.
