Visual political satire in the Czech media

Thesis called Visual political satire in the Czech media shows different types of visual satire which appeared in Czech media during its history and places them in historical context. It examines the political satire in detail from the fifties of the twentieth century, when the communist regime in Czechoslovakia was established. But the largest space is dedicated to the digital age. It describes technological changes which influenced birth of a new kind of satire, photomontage. Thesis focuses on declared photomontage. At first, it shows montages that appear in traditional media and then it proceeds to the internet. Presently, the content of web pages with media theme is created by amateurs as well. Thesis focuses on the production of one such amateur who takes part in the online citizen journalism, Teo Adamy. He comments politics through his montages. By the analysis of his photomontages, we find out in which topics the author is interested and how he processes them. Thesis closely analyzes the category Celebrity/Poblitici and looks for motives that repeat in his images. The final output is comprehensive preview to author's creation.
The first people in space according to Czechoslovak media

This thesis focused on how propaganda was used in the Czechoslovak media and how that directly relatedd to the first people in space. The aim is an analysis of celebrities of Soviet state system including Yuri Gagarin, Valentina Tereshkova and also John Glenn for comparison. The thesis discusses how these people were promoted and constructed into cult heroes in Eastern, Western and Third World countries. The secondary literature of this subject was not yet analysed and the author wants to use it for further study. The contemporary sources are used in the press - Rude pravo, Mlady svet, Dikobraz, ABC mladych prirodovedcu a techniku and the Ceskoslovensky vojak.
Language nad Propaganda in Mladý Svět Magazine until 1989

Our diploma thesis was concerned with language and propaganda in Mladý svět weekly to 1989. The objective of our work was not only a complex text analysis but also analysis of linguistic devices in terms of propaganda. The task was to analyse linguistic devices of selected text corpuses, specifically always of the introductory spread of the first issue in that particular year from 1959 to 1989. The objective was to find those linguistic devices that were being used in propaganda, sort them according to specific linguistic areas, point out myths that the propaganda created and show how propaganda used language to influence the recipient. Our work consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with the overall historical context of censorship functioning in years 1959-1989. Later on, it gives an overview of the young and children's magazines market. In the next chapter, we give general characteristics of propaganda based on specialized publications. One chapter deals with the way the young perceived propaganda. The last chapter involves the language and propaganda, which also draws from specialized publications.
