Honzl, Jiří ; Coppens, Filip (advisor) ; Bareš, Ladislav (referee)
This paper deals with Latin visitors' graffiti from sites in Theban region, namely from the Memnon colossi and the royal tombs from the Valley of the Kings. The description and analysis of both sets of inscriptions are followed by a comparison of the material. The graffiti are also put in the broader context of the history of Roman Egypt, the development of the phenomenon of tourism in Egypt, the use and spread of Latin in the Roman province of Egypt and also other non-Latin inscriptions from same sites. Czech Lexicography of the 15th Century
Voleková, Kateřina ; Dittmann, Robert (advisor) ; Kučera, Karel (referee) ; Pleskalová, Jana (referee)
Mgr. Kateřina Voleková Česká lexikografie 15. století Czech Lexicography of the 15th Century Abstract The thesis deals with Czech medieval lexicography. Based on research into rich manuscript material totalling over 350 items, it describes the development of Czech lexicography from Czech glosses in foreign-language texts and first Latin-Czech glossaries to the flourishing Czech lexicography of the 15th century covering both Latin-Czech, Czech-Latin and multilingual lexicographical works and also infrequently attested Czech monolingual dictionaries. The high number of lexicographical works is divided according to formal and content criteria. With respect to form and macrostructure we discern Czech glosses in Latin and Latin-German glossaries, a bilingual glossaries with Czech as one of the languages, alphabetaries and nomenclators and glossaries lacking an ordering criterion. With respect to the content we distinguish large dictionaries covering as many lexical items as possible on one hand and short glossaries covering only a narrowly delimited part of vocabulary on the other hand. The lexicographical works are supplied with a short description which is in case of short and yet unedited works complemented by an edition using transcription. The thesis also contains description of selected phenomena of...

Notes on Günther's edition of Melanchton's Latin Grammar
Pišna, Jan
The present paper focuses on the Rajhrad copy of Melanchthon’s Latin Grammar which\noriginated in Günther’s printing works in Prostějov ante quem 1560. Comparison with the first known fully preserved and, above all, dated edition from 1560 as well as with other known copies described by us already in 2012 will reveal we are dealing with the first local adaptation of this grammar and the 1560 edition represents its more detailed and completed version. Rajhrad edition then served as a model for unauthorized reprint originating in the Melantrich’s printing works in the 1560s.
Live typeface
Jiříček, Milan ; Špiřík, Jan (referee) ; Rajmic, Pavel (advisor)
The work describes the theoretical foundations of modern methods of creating new fonts, that is, using information technology, specifically vector programs. It also marginally shows the history of the font, Roman writing, the basic division of its compositions and describes its individual elements. The next part of the project focuses on creating digital fonts and continues with bringing it to live using algorithms and methods that can easily be processed in Matlab programming language. The method of implementation of the bringing the typeface to live is described and presentation of the generated results are then shown in few examples. Attention is also paid to the coordinates system, which is very important to solve geometric transformations, and two-dimensional vector graphics, which are widely used in the design and to render the fonts. Bézier curves and cubic Bézier curves are described in further detail along with vector graphics rasterization. One part of this text describes very important de Casteljau algorithm. The last chapter focuses on implementation in Matlab programming language, the creation of curves, that means single font characters, and the ways of how the algorithm works with transformations. Some sample images showing transformations using different input arguments are displayed in this section as well. There is evaluation of the contribution of this application and the possibilities of further expansion at the end.
Antiquity in the Inscriptive Culture of the Czech Lands
Kepartová, Jana
Author informs of the database that will contain inscriptions from the Czech lands that have something to do with antiquity. The aim of this longterm project is to gradually document and analyse the heritage of antiquity in the epigraphic culture of the Czech Lands from the first inscriptive documents to the present, regardless of whether or not the heritage is conscious or unconscious. The outcome of the entire project will be studies on 'Nachleben / the second life' of the ancient world in inscriptions in the Czech Lands, i.e. an area to which insufficient attention has been paid so far. Only in this phase of the project will the ways that antiquity had been getting into Czech inscriptions be studied. This second life of antiquity in our country will be confronted with the heritage of antiquity in the epigraphic culture of other Central European countries.
