Deposition of GaN nano structures on Si(111) 7x7
Šťastný, Jakub ; Horák, Michal (referee) ; Mach, Jindřich (advisor)
The thesis is focused on the study of growth of 2D GaN nanocrystals on Si(111) 7x7. In the theoretical part of this thesis the properties of 3D and 2D GaN, main methods used for growth of GaN and 2D GaN and applications of GaN are described. The experimental part of this thesis describes in detail the method of low temperature droplet epitaxy with assistance of ions, which was used for series of deposition of 2D GaN under different angles of ion beam. The deposition was done in the complex UHV system in the ÚFI VUT labs in Brno. The nanocrystals were analysed by SEM and AFM.
Diverzita akvatických a aerofytních sinicových společenstev
SVOBODA, Martin
This master thesis deals with the species composition of cyanobacteria from Iceland's ecosystems. In 2020, 42 samples were taken from various Icelandic habitats. Species diversity was determined mainly according to morphological features. In some species were obtained sequences of 16S rRNA gene. The morphological features of the found cyanobacterial species are described in the work. In addition, phylogenetic analysis of species for which the 16S rRNA sequence was obtained can be found. A total of 30 species of cyanobacteria divided into four orders were found. The order Oscillatoriales (33%) dominated, followed by the orders Synechococcales (27%), Nostocales (23%) and Chroococcales (17%). The most dominant species was Leptolyngbya boryana, which was found in 17 samples (40%). Finally, the discussion compares the biogeographical affiliation of the found species with the available world literature.

The GIUK's gap Geopolitical Importance
Prášil, Matěj ; Riegl, Martin (advisor)
The following thesis is focusing on the geopolitical as well as geostrategic significance of the GIUK Gap. In addition to an overview of the realist theories of international relations used in the analysis as such, the thesis includes a section devoted to the historical development of the geopolitical and geostrategic significance of the GIUK Gap, but above all an analysis of the current geopolitical and geostrategic significance of the once mentioned specific North Atlantic region. The analysis of the current geopolitical situation is written with an emphasis on the increasing importance of the area for NATO and the Russian Federation, whose interests have increasingly clashed in recent years, not only in this region. The aim of the paper is to demonstrate a causal relationship between the generally deteriorating relations between NATO and the Russian Federation following the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the growing importance of the GIUK Gap.

1962: The world on the brink of disaster
Hejnová, Tereza ; Raška, Francis (advisor) ; Calda, Miloš (referee)
Bachelor thesis "1962: The world on the brink of disaster" discusses several days at the end of October 1962 - the Caribbean crisis. Caribbean crisis has become one of the worst crises of the Cold War and during the crisis world was really on the verge of outbreak of nuclear war. The work focuses on addressing this crisis, from the American side. U.S. representatives were at this time dilemma - how to achieve that the missiles were withdrawn from Cuba while also maintaining peace? They had many options. And about how these options they are interested. I'm trying to break down the process of thinking, consider how risk what options were and what conclusions they reached. Why they chose a blockade of the island? What were other suggestions? These are questions with which they deal, and we're trying to find an answer. The possibilities were many and included a direct military attack on the island. The blockade of the island, however, represents the least risk of conflict with the Soviet Union.
Current party system of Iceland
Mergl, Tomáš ; Brunclík, Miloš (advisor) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
The party system of Iceland was always well-known for its strong stability and moderate nature typical for its whole modern development. But since the 1999 parliamentary election the Icelandic party system has been going through several changes and it is not appropriate to consider it nowadays as a traditionally stable party system with, in the long term, the dominant Independence Party. The party system is splitting off and the new parties are found out. Although after the 2013 election the system returned to the pre-2009 model, there is still an important question whether it reflects repeated stabilization of the Iceland political and party system, or it is only a reaction to the left-wing government in the years of 2009 to 2013. The aim of this thesis is to answer the following questions: is the Icelandic party system going through some changes of its structure or inter-party competition, and if so, is this transformation caused by the financial and bank crisis in 2008, or does it concern long- term transformations? Did the electoral shock in 2009 result from the reaction of the Icelandic voters to the financial crisis, or the election results were only another validation of the long- term Icelandic party system trend, namely by erosion of its traditional adjustment? In the analysis of the...
Icesave dispute and Icelandic EU application
Tůmová, Kateřina ; Váška, Jan (advisor) ; Hořejšová, Tereza (referee)
The bachelor thesis analyzes the influence of the Icesave dispute on the EU application and answers a research question, if the dispute poses an essential threat to Icelandic membership in the EU. The conflict over the Icesave debt began after the collapse of Icelandic banking system during the global economic crisis in 2008. Icesave was an online brand by the bank Landsbanki, which provided savings account in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The biggest problem in the dispute was reimbursement of the Icesave debt, which should Iceland paid for to both of the countries due to the Icelandic membership in the European Economic Area and on the base of the EU directive on deposit-guarantee schemes. The first chapter of this bachelor thesis is dealing with a development of the Icelandic financial crisis and with an excursion to the Icelandic banking system. The cause of the Icelandic financial crisis wasn't the global economic crises itself but also the unsustainable size of the Icelandic banking sector. The following chapter contains origins and development of the Icesave dispute and its international dimension. The third chapter is dealing with Icelandic EU application (July 2009). And the last chapter is the analysis of possibilities, how the Icesave dispute can thwart the EU membership, and...
Icelandic fisheries as the national interest and its influence on the formation of the foreign policy
Tůmová, Kateřina ; Hořejšová, Tereza (advisor) ; Weiss, Tomáš (referee)
Presented thesis analyzes the Icelandic fisheries as a national interest and its role in foreign policy. Importance of fisheries confirms the fact that in the first half of the twentieth century marine products accounted for over 90% of Iceland's exports and the Icelandic economy was fully dependent on one sector. Gradual diversification of the economy in the seventies, however, caused a decline in exports of fish products to one-third of total exports. The thesis assumes that the Icelandic fisheries have a significant impact on foreign policy, even though its economic importance is declining. The research is carried out on three historical events, such as the cod wars in the fifties and the seventies, mackerel dispute in 2010 and the withdrawal of Iceland's application to the EU in 2015. It would be expected that due to the economic ties and Icelandic membership in international organizations (NATO, EFTA) the Icelandic government would primarily seek peaceful solutions in international conflicts. However, it could be observed in the Icelandic case that due to the pressure of the domestic politics the government does not respond as it would be expected. According to the neoclassical realism the thesis should verify a hypothesis that in a case of security threat, the Icelandic government will give...
