This bachelor's thesis is focused on exploring of home conceptualization by Czech native speakers of different ages (preschool children, students, adults). It aims to supplement information identified in the context of international comparative EUROJOS research - Linguistic and cultural picture of the world of Slavs and their neighbors. It's methodologically based on cognitive linguistics and etnolinguistics. It verifies the conceptualization of home based on my questionnaire which was inspired by ongoing research within the EUROJOS project. This survey will be modified; representatives of different age groups are assigned to it. Preschool children are included to this project too and their conceptualization is verified through drawings. In this bachelor's thesis the current results of my own empirical survey are compared with theoretical solutions.

Svítilová, Tereza ; Bučková, Tamara (advisor) ; Markvartová, Eva (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the genre of intercultural children's literature and the literature for young adults on the example of the analysis of current German works. The used method is a combination of structural analysis of compositional, language and thematic component of the works, content analysis and the theory of reader-response criticism. Based on the analysis of four works, the genre of intercultural literature is defined in the relation with the themes of home, homeland and cultural identity. Home is defined not only as a physical space to live but also in the spiritual sense of the word represented by the family relationships, which mean safety and security to the figures. Homeland is perceived as an extended paralell to home. It is a space which is close to the figures and they can easily understand the relations here. Home and homeland both influence the concept of identity, environment being the most important aspect of it. The figures are in conflict of their roles being assigned to them by their environment and the way they define themselves. If the figures have to choose between their home and homeland, they choose their home in the spiritual sense - their family. If the family fails to fulfil its role, they search for the comfort in their homeland.

Mizzau, Carla ; Poláková, Dora (advisor) ; Marešová, Jaroslava (referee)
The purpose of this paper is to identify and to highlight the main rhetoric and narrative elements connected to the topic of identity in exile in the work of Uruguayan author Mario Benedetti. We will first analyze the sociopolitical situation in Uruguay as well as South America during the decade of 1970, as well as the consequences and the impact the experience of exile produces in an individual's self-perception Five representative stories, created by this writer during his own exile, are used to deal with various aspects of identity. The focus will be first on the characters' perception and awareness regarding the changes, the everyday habits as well as the anomalous life situation in which they find themselves. We will also discuss how their physical reality reflects a spiritual and irreversible condition due to the extreme drama experienced. Then reference will be made to the habits and values that necessarily go into crisis when, in order to survive under conditions of pressure, a new social and cultural environment is chosen. Finally, we will focus on the individual's sense of belonging to his place of origin, and how it is affected after living for some time in the host country when nostalgia, feelings of guilt, and adaptation to a new socio-cultural environment play a crucial role.
