Transformation of European exhibition and fair areas
Štěpánková, Lenka ; Rak,, Milan (referee) ; Boháč,, Ivo (referee) ; Wittmann, Maxmilian (advisor)
Exhibition centres represent a specific type of urban space within the present-day European cities and their current form results from a long development in the past. While exhibition venues are the subject of study from multiple points of view (e.g. economics, urban policy, leisure studies) their spatial quality and urban characteristics stay somewhat aside and a theoretical frame for their all-encompassing description and assessment of their possible impact on the urban development of cities is missing. Comparison of exhibition centres from various European regions and countries is further complicated by the existence of language barriers which have an impact on the accessibility of relevant and comparable data. The thesis submits information about the previous and current form of European exhibition centres and the processes that shaped their form are described in detail. The FFF theory proposed by the author herself is employed to analyse the relation between form, function and financial subjects with the aim to arrive at conclusions which could be applied within the current conditions in the Czech Republic. Summarized knowledge about European exhibition centres and venues helps to understand the role they play within the cities and the necessity to protect their historical value upon future transformations. It is also needed to predict their possible further development and unfold their urban potential.

Introductory part of this thesis concludes the development of air traffic, division of airports in the Czech Republic according to the Ministry of Transport, according to the Law on Civil Aviation and according to the Coding of the airports (Requirement L 14). The aim was to realize theoretical definition and division of output and economic indicators. After that comes choice of appropriate airports from the European Union. The choice has been made on the basis of the number of check-in passengers at the airport in Prague-Ruzyně. Eight most suitable airports have been chosen from all twenty-seven member countries of the EU. The following step is comparative analysis of these chosen airports on the basis of specified output and economic indicators for the years 2005-2009. The year 2010 has not been included, because the chosen airports did not complete their annual reports, balances and statements of profit and loss. From these sources the values for calculation of individual indicators have been chosen. These indicators have been shown in charts, evaluated by means of graphs in Excel Programme and further they have been characterized in words. The aim of the thesis was also the evaluation and comparison of output and economic indicators of effectiveness and after evaluation, proposal of methods of evaluations has followed.

Dostál, Martin ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
Premature mortality in selected developed countries: causes and trends Abstract The main goal of the thesis is to describe the overall development of premature mortality and evaluate the development of mortality according to selected groups of causes of death and age groups in selected developed countries of Europe between the years 1999 and 2018. The selected countries for work purposes include the Czechia, Hungary, Sweden, Italy and France. The limit of premature mortality is the age of 70 years. The methods used in this thesis are direct standardization and bivariate decomposition. The results of the analysis showed an improvement in mortality rates in all selected states during almost the entire monitored period. This is proven, for example, by the improvement of the temporary life expectancy between the exact ages of 0 and 70 years. The positive development of premature mortality was mainly contributed by an improvement in mortality from diseases of the circulatory system in older age groups and an improvement in mortality from neoplasms. Key words: premature mortality, causes of death, decomposition, developed countries, Europe
