Researches public service television viewer in the Czech republic with a focus on news channel ČT24

This master thesis focuses on the typology of researches that public service broadcaster Czech television uses to analyse audience feedback - measurement of ratings, contentment and public service. The thesis describes history of TV audience researches from beginnings to the present in Czechoslovakia and the Czech republic as well as abroad. It also mentions problems that the aspiration for perfection of measurement brings. This thesis also addresses the functioning of Czech TV's Research and analysis department and brings original research focused on the influence of survey results over the scheduling of ČT24 programme. The thesis further includes interviews with Renata Týmová, chief of Research and analysis department, and Zdeněk Šámal, manager of news and sports department.
War propaganda in Islamic State's videos

The diploma thesis deals with the circumstances of origin of the terrorist organization Islamic State in its theoretical part. It focuses on the religious context of the ideology of the Islamic state and the origins of the organization. The so-called Islamic State can currently be considered one of the most acute security threats of the 21st century. The war with the so- called Islamic State is also a media war, a war taking place in the media and global cyberspace. An important mean of this war is propaganda. The work is also focused mainly on the propaganda of the so-called Islamic State with a focus on video production. With the influx of brutal videos from IS production, the question arises which way media should handle this material. Obviously, the videos were designed for media, among others. To be distributed and viewed by as many recipients as possible. In the practical part selected videos from the IS production are analyzed and their example shows what topics are present in IS video production and how the Islamic State propaganda works with the video.
Aspects of reporting on migration crisis in news programmes of Czech Television and TV Prima

The object of this diploma thesis is to cover and describe main selected aspects of reporting on refugee crisis in two key czech news programmes - in Zprávy FTV Prima and in Události ČT. Within the confines of one randomly chosen week in six months at the turn of the year 2016 and 2017 the author uses the quantitative method of analysis (with some elements of qualitative research) to describe in detail the discours chosen by these two powerful media institutions to inform the recipients. This work concentrates on most frequent topics, on their framing, on the linguistic and semantics codes etc. The initial part of the thesis offers insight into theoretical knowledge about this topic - history of migration in Czech territory, selected theoretical concepts and last but not least - the context, facts about the number og migrants living in CZ and EU also. The conclusions may serve as a basis for other analysis concerning this highly topical and very complex issue. The author perceives this subject as one of the most important event of late, which in addition strongly resonates with social and public life. Digital communication technologies and convergence of audiovisual media-Ceska televize and the internet

The subject of this thesis is developement of the website of czech TV from their founding in 1996 to year 2013. The goal of this thesis is to capture significant points in their changing due to convergence of new and audiovisual media. In the theory, The proces of digitization is described and its impact on audiovisual media. A part of the theory is also developement of the internet and new media. Next, the proces of convergence is describe and its parts, which have impact on journalism. The different views of chosen authors on convergence are ppresented. The practical part concentrates on the developement of czech TV website in chapters, which are divided according to significant changes. The main interes tis in changes in function of the internet as a part ofservice of public media.
Adjusting the television picture and sound in newscast to make it more difficult to identify people (newscast of Česká televize, TV Nova and FTV Prima)

The Diploma Thesis deals - within its theoretical part - with situations in TV news, which require conversion of audiovisual content to achieve involved person's anonymity. Ethics codes of analysed television stations are major factor in this part, also included as secondary support relavant studies, reference books, laws and edicts. Conversion of audiovisual content is necessary - speaking of victims of crime (mainly violent or sexual offense) and theirs relatives, children, suspects and theirs relatives, anonymous sources, some criminalists or other vulnerable persons. Practical part of the thesis applies gained informations to analyse audio-visual recordings - broadcasted by Czech TV (Česká televize), TV Nova and FTV Prima. Study reflected diffrences between conversion of same situations and same persons. Study also reflected some ethically controversial moments. Several reporters gived an interview to comment selected news.
