Euroscepticism and Fragmentation in the British Conservative Party 2015-2017

The main goal of a bachelor thesis called Euroscepticism and Fragmentation in the British Conservative Party 2015-2017 is to analyse fragmentation in Conservative Party caused by different opinions on how to deal with the European question on four main events that occurred in those years. It also attempts to answer whether and how the party Euroscepticism has changed. The events used for the analysis are the general election in 2015, the referendum concerning the British membership in European Union in 2016, the intra party election in the same year and the general election in 2017. Thesis includes theoretical part, which covers several typologies concerning factions and Euroscepticism. Based on the theoretical part were laid out three research criteria. The first criterion examines the external manifestations of Euroscepticism on party manifestos on which are compared statements concerning the European Union. The next chapter criterion examines the internal manifestations of party Euroscepticism and fragmentation. They are analysed based on the behaviour of factions and politicians between 2015 and 2017. The last criterion maps the manifestations of Euroscepticism and fragmentation on the intra party election of a new party leader. Before each analysis comes a description of examined subjects....
Great Britain and Free Trade. Analysis of British parliamentary debate in the context of TTIP negotiations

Bachelor thesis Great Britain and Free Trade, Analysis of the British parliamentary debate in the context of TTIP negotiations deals with the stances of major British political parties, the Conservative Party, the Labour Party and to lesser extent also the Liberal Democrats, towards the free trade and the TTIP protocol. The thesis first examines the relationship of individual parliamentary parties to international and therefore free trade. The next chapter describes the TTIP protocol, which was to be a free trade agreement between the European Union, of which Britain is a part, and the United States. In subsequent analysis of parliamentary debates in 2013-2016 the thesis examines stances of concerned political parties towards the free trade and the TTIP protocol. In the course of this thesis I had worked with the research question in following wording: "What are the reservations and possible limits of Great Britain in promoting free trade - in a comparison of the three main concepts of British politics that can be traced to the example of TTIP?". Bachelor thesis The Analysis of British Parliamentary Debate in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict between 2010 and 2015: The Comparison of Political Parties' Stances towards the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict deals with the stances of major British political parties, the Conservative Party, the Labour Party and to lesser extent also the Liberal Democrats, towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The thesis at first thoroughly examines through an analysis of parliamentary debates in 2010-2015 the stances of concerned political parties towards three important aspects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict - the issue of recognition of Palestinian state on bilateral level, the issue of enhanced status of Palestine in the United Nations and the issue of some form of economic sanctions against the Israel or against the Jewish settlement in the West Bank. In subsequent comparison main dissimilarities and similarities are identified in stances of concerned political parties. In the end the thesis answers the question, whether the stances of political parties in question towards Israeli- Palestinian conflict falls within the confines of traditional bipartisan consensus in the foreign policy between the Labour Party and the Conservative party or not.
Reception of the new economic theories in economic programme of the british Conservative Party between 1966-1982

This work aims to analyze economic policy of the Conservative Party in Great Britain between 1966-1982. This range of years i selected because of the change of party leader. This changes brought new economic policy. In the first part of this work, there are introduced economic theories, which influenced economic policy of the second half of the twentieth century. As these theories are mentioned the keynesian economy, which was replaced with liberal economic theories. In the second part, ther are analyzed manifestos and government policy of the conservatives. The main sources of this part are the party programmes. In the begining of the chapter is analysed economic policy during the leadership of Edward Heath. His economic policy seems to be consensual. Although Heath defined his government as cabinet of changes, the political practise did not changed. Deeper changes were brought by Keith Joseph and Margaret Thatcher.

In this thesis, my task is the analysis of Margaret Thatcherʼs relations to the trade union movement in the United Kingdom. The thesis includes the analysis of the overall development of the Conservative Party politician and of the development of unions. It also includes a basic analysis of conflicts with unions during the government of Thatcher. Nevertheless Thatcher personally intervened only exceptionally to problems of individual state enterprises. The thesis analyses the legislation aimed against trade unions and other measures that limited the power of the trade union movement. In a separate chapter I deal minersʼ strike. This strike in its scope and course surpassed all others. Finally, the thesis analyses the economic policy of Margaret Thatcher and its impact on the British economy.

The Falklands War and Its Impact on Margaret Thatcher's Victory in the General Elections of 1983 The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the impact of Falklands War on British political scene and particularly its influence on the victory of Conservative Party in the General elections in 1983. The author takes into account the geographical position and importance of Falkland Islands at the beginning of the thesis, for understanding of situation of both interested countries (Argentina and Great Britain). Further on, the author outlines the historical context of the quarrel for the Falkland Islands and the progress of relations between Argentina and Great Britain. Then she analyses the political situation in Great Britain during the first Thatcher's government, including economic situation in the country. In the next chapter the author analyses the war and its consequences. The last chapter, which is crucial for this thesis, is the analysis of the General election in Great Britain in 1983 with the special regard to the impact of the victorious war mentioned above (so called "Falkland Factor"). The Political Debate on Immigration in the UK between 2010-2015

This thesis focuses on the political debate surrounding immigration, especially in the two prominent political parties in Great Britain - the Labour Party and the Conservative Party. Its main timeframe is between 2010 and 2015, however to fully contextualise the issue some earlier data is used. This text analyses the pre-election debate of the main political parties in the United Kingdom. It looks at immigration as a topic in their manifestos and during pre-election talks. The thesis aims to map the change in approach of the main political parties during the time when they switched positions as government and opposition.

Bachelor thesis Analysis of European Parliament Elections 2014 focuses on topic of the theory of second-order elections which is put into context of the United Kingdom's political system. At first the theory of second-order elections is introduced for using on the examples of British politics. Thesis tries to answer the question whether the European Parliament Elections 2014 could be find as a second-order elections. Text analyzes turnout and results of single british political parties in past European Parliament Elections and compares these statistics to results of European Parliament Elections 2009 and General Elections 2010. Thesis works with three component research criteria which analyzes single hypotheses in way of theory of second- order elections. The results of every single criterion that tend to be used correctly. So thesis leads to conclusion that the European Parliament Elections 2014 could be find as a second order elections.

The diploma thesis deals with the analysis of British party system and its special features, with the focus on the main political parties in Great Britain, their history, their development and the current position within the system. The thesis employs methods of analysis of specialized sources in the English language mainly. The aim of the first part is to provide theoretical knowledge to establish background for better understanding the rest of the thesis. The following part of the thesis deals with the main political parties in Great Britain, their development, programs and their current position in the system. The most important part of the thesis is the last one, which focuses on Liberal Democratic Party, its beginnings, development and puts emphasis on the two last elections in 2010 and 2015. There is an attempt to provide an opinion on what were the reasons of the election results depending on election program, electorate and other specifications.
Relationship between Edward Heaths government and trade unions - is reform possible?

In this thesis the author is concerned with relationship between trade unions and the Edward Heath government from 1970 to 1974. This thesis will be also concerned with period of time before the Edward Heath government. It will be describing the development of relationship between post-war governments and trade unions. The author will be describing the Labour party government (1945-51), Conservative party government (1951-64) and again the Labour party government (1964-70). We can divide the period of Conservative party government into two parts. During the first one, which is set between 1970 to 1972, the government was trying to change the post-war consensus and undermine the influence of trade unions. During this period the main part of legislation was introduced, which was aimed to improve the relationship with trade unions and limit its influence. Then the thesis will be concerned with miners strike in 1972, which led to the change of governments policy. It will be also describing the last years of the government. During these years the government was not able to challenge the demands of trade unions, as well, the bad economic situation.
