A large park in English style is covered as well as some of interesting landscape components inside. The attention is paid to some other building projects of count Chotek which are not as important as Ka ina chateau but they help to create a picture of the count in his role of enthusiastic constructor. The chapter about the development of the family of Chotek cannot be eliminated, because it shows an environment which Jan Rudolf came from. Myth in French classicist tragedy and in poetry and prose of symbolists
Loskot, Tomáš ; Listíková, Renáta (advisor) ; Ébert-Zeminová, Catherine (referee)
This thesis deals with how a myth is approached and treated by two different literary movements, namely the classicism and the symbolism. The main aim of this thesis is to compare the shift of meaning and function of the myth in its literary renditions. The works on which we will try to demonstrate these differences are Phèdre by Jean Racine as for the classical movement, and Thésée by André Gide as for the symbolist movement. The thesis poses questions regarding the purpose of these respective literary interpretations and centres around the hypothesis that the classical work focuses on inspiring terror and pity, while the myth as treated by the symbolists seems to serve rather as a dialogue with oneself. Moreover, symbolists perceive the myth's archetypal content to be more suitable in expressing the essential, in accordance with the philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer, while the classical period is much more preoccupied with Antiquity and follows strictly the rules as established in Aristotle's Poetics. The theoretical part of the thesis concentrates on the definition and delimitation of the keywords, as well as describing the different kinds of myths. It also gives a brief outline of the respective literary movements. The analytical part deals with what the authors wanted to express through the...

A Return to Classicism? Proust's Thinking about Love
Šťastná, Kristýna ; Voldřichová - Beránková, Eva (advisor) ; Pohorský, Aleš (referee)
A Return to Classicism? Proust's Thinking about Love A sceptical approach to love has always been represented in French literature, especially during the Classicism era. This work is an in-depth analysis of Charles Swann and his romantic relationship with Odette - as it is depicted in the first part of Marcel Proust's In Search of Lost Time. This paper attempts to verify if Proust, a 20th century author, remains anchored in the moral literary tradition and to what extent. The work examines Proust's understanding of love and compares it with the ideas of Classicism, which the author often references. The work also delineates how this pessimistic approach to love was further developed in French literature and philosophy. To what extent can, for example, Jean-Paul Sartre or Maurice Merleau- Ponty be considered as Proust's disciples?
