Idioms with Animal Components in Czech and Chinese

This graduation thesis is dedicated to the animal phraseology in Czech and Chinese languages.The author focused on the analysis of animal idioms on the basis of the syntactical, formal and semantic aspects. She created an index of animal idioms in both languages on the basis of the relevant dictionaries - Slovník české frazeologie a idiomatiky 1. - 4. and Hanyu Chengyu Jinghua Cidian. Furthermore she made a mutual comparison of these idioms from both languages. The Czech National Corpus and Chinese Corpus were used as the main sources for the analysis.
Taiwan Scholarships as a Source of Soft Power

Bachelor thesis "Taiwan Scholarships as a source of Soft Power" deals with the Taiwanese view of the concept of soft power, it introduces the scholarships offered to foreign students and finally assess the impact those scholarship have on their recipients. The core of the thesis is the research carried out by the author using semi-structured questionare and interview. The researched subjects were defined in advance as Czech students who went to one of Taiwan scholarships. The first chapter is an introduction to historical context of Taiwan's contemporary situation. It also describes the Taiwanese soft power interpretation and application in practise. The second chapter focuses on the Taiwanese scholarships offer for foreign students. The third chapter presents the foundings the research.
Czech Reality in Chinese Language of the Newsletter of Chinese Living in the Czech Republic (Jiéhuá tōngxùn)

This thesis is focused on Czech realia in Chinese language in a magazine called Newsletter of the Chinese Living in the Czech Republic Jiéhuá tōngxùn 捷华通讯. The analysis of the collected material is introduced by chapters about Chinese lexicon, word- formation and loan-words. Material referring to the Czech realia from selected issues of the magazine is divided into theme groups. Material is analyzed and compared with the common Chinese lexical system. Material includes not only loan-words, but also common Chinese words, which are used for describing Czech realia. At the end of the thesis, there are described some tendencies in terming Czech realia. Collected material is in the attachment of this thesis and could be used as a dictionary. Grammatical and Lexical Analysis of the Chinese Textbook by N. A. Speshnev

The major objective of this thesis is to conduct complex grammatical and lexical analysis of the Chinese language textbook by N. A. Speshnev Vvedenye v kitayskiy yazik. Results of the analysis are compared with textbook written by Oldrich Svarny Introduction to the Study of colloquial Chinese (Uvod do studia hovorove cinstiny) and A Frequency Dictionary of Modern Chinese. Analysis and comparison results serve as a basis for evaluating the coverage of basic vocabulary and grammar used in Speshnev's textbook and its suitability for first-year students of Sinology. The results of lexical analysis include a list of all lexical items used in the textbook, as well as the information on their grammatical function characteristics, meanings, usage and frequency. Grammatical analysis results provide an overview of all grammatical constructions and features that are present in the textbook. Important part of grammatical analysis is introduction of comprehensive view on individual grammar features and comparison of their various perceptions in different grammatical systems. In conclusion, the positives and negatives of Speshnev textbook are evaluated and new suggestions to its use in complex language teaching are presented. English Loanwords in the Chinese Language

The presented paper is devoted to the description of English loanwords in Chinese. It describes the problems connected to their integration into the target language and it also introduces a short history of borrowing in Chinese and the current tendencies in borrowing foreign words into Chinese. This paper also shows the classification of loanwords according to both Western and Chinese linguistics and focuses on language changes in the process of borrowing.
A Chinese patient in the Czech health care service

The name of this thesis is: "A Chinese patient in the Czech health care service". China with approximately 1.3 million inhabitants belongs to the largest countries in the world. Migration and tourism of inhabitants of the Folk Republic of China and Republic of China towards the Central European region, is higher year by year. Simultaneously, with increasing accumulation of the Chinese minority group members in the Czech Republic, even the number of provided health care for this minority group of inhabitants is rising. Different conception of health and disease markedly affects the approach and understanding of the patient/client from another culture both from professional point of view and from the view of patient/client. Medical personnel should be aware of main differences in behaviour of the members of minority group and their population, and not only in connection with provided health care. This research work is worked out by means of qualitative research methods. Working out of nursing care peculiarities which the members of Chinese minority want to respect was the research goal of this thesis. Collection of data was carried out by means of a half-structured interview in members of the Chinese minority group in the Czech Republic. The content of questions of the half-structured interview is based notably on conceptual, nursing models developed by Gordonová, M., Leiningerová, M., and a model developed by Gigerová, J. {--} Davidhizerová, R. The five research questions were specified for the goal accomplishment. The results of research were treated by means of casuistics and a slightly modified approach of general analysis by Ritchie and Spencer. Established nursing care peculiarities in the area of blood taking, and information of physician´s diagnosis, especially towards the family, and apprehension of medicament addiction, and even the pain and answer to it belong to leading results. Description of how the members of Chinese minority group understand the Czech nursing and a nurse as a provider of professional nursing care also belongs to other results. The hypotheses decided on further research use were suggested on the basis of results of this thesis. This thesis and its results are determined to the professional health care purposes and for direct provision of nursing care in health service facilities in the Czech Republic. One of the outcomes of this thesis is also a propsal of the nursing care standard in members of Chinese minority group living in the Czech Republic, and, hereafter, an information summary book for nurses concerning trans-cultural specificity of the Chinese patient/client in the Czech health services.
