Sugar addiction among abstinent clients in the psychiatric hospital Bohnice
Veselá, Helena ; Čablová, Lenka (advisor) ; Nevoralová, Monika (referee)
The topic of the thesis focuses on nutrition for people recovering from alcohol addiction. The theoretical part of the thesis is to detect excessive use of sugar abstinent women in a psychiatric hospital and common characteristics depending on the seasoning. This section will be described alcohol, its production, its effects and impact on human health. Also described are the mechanisms of physical and psychological dependence on sugar. The harmfulness of sugar on the human body and the effect on his health. It pointed to the eating habits abstinent women in a psychiatric hospital. In the practical part of the thesis using quantitative research focuses on finding eating habits, specifically the amount of consumption of sugar-containing foods, with clients Bohnice Psychiatric Hospital, patients recovering from alcohol addiction. The aim of this section is to determine whether the amount of sugar accepted during the stay in a psychiatric hospital creates dependency on the delicacies. The practical part also shows the ratio of patients addicted to sugar, sugar endangered, or patients without addiction. To gather the data I used a questionnaire ADS (scale depending on the alcohol) (Skinner & Horn, 1984) and Yale variety to meals - YFAS (Gearhardt et al., 2009). The questionnaire focused on the evaluation...
How a drogue ex-user see a period of his addiction
Hronková, Veronika ; Kubišová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Hauser, Michael (referee)
Subject: How a drogue ex-user see a period of his addiction. Abstract: The work focus on the actual situation of ex-users. These people were fighting with an addiction and now they are a part of the majority society. The qualitative research, inspired by a grounded theory, try to approach their point of view. What they think about their past and how do they see their relations with a family, friends and a vicinage. Not just in that period but nowadays as well. Relationships with home-folks are stigmatized by a degree of drug addiction. The smaller addiction the smaller losses. Once a drug user is falling down into the drug trap, the losses depend on how deep he will fall. On the bottom there are no friends, no family, just nothing. Some of the drug users do not fall to the bottom, they do their decision earlier. We call that decision a break point ( a moment when they decide to abstain). A break point comes individually and it is connected to an "interior border" of each person. Anyway, it is a moment, when an individual concerned decide to live a different way. It is a very intense moment and very fundamental for a abstinence success. We have used an interview to study not just this phenomenon. During the interview we tried to find out how a life looks with and without an addiction. Key words: addiction,...
The effect of morphine withdrawal on the catecholaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmitter system in rat brain
Nováková, Daniela ; Novotný, Jiří (advisor) ; Drastichová, Zdeňka (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to study the effect of morphine withdrawal on catecholaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmitter system in rat brain. Theoretical part of this thesis summarizes basic information known about principles of neurotransmission with focus on the catecholaminergic and serotonergic system, metabolism of its components, their signaling, relevant receptors, their distribution, and especially their effect on morphine dependence and subsequent withdrawal. It also summarizes briefly principles of opioid signaling and outlines the findings yet known about neurochemical analysis of the transmitter systems mentioned above. Experimental part of this thesis is focused on the optimization of the method of high performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection and its subsequent use to determine basic components of catecholaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmitter system in samples of different part of brain of rats affected by intraperitoneal administration of morphine sulphate, and its subsequent withdrawal and correspondings unaffected control rats. The expression of selected catecholaminergic receptors in identical samples is also detected. This thesis succesfully implements gradient into the originally isocratic method of high performance liquid chromatography...
Development of secondary addiction in the period of abstinence from the user's point of view
Němec, Radek ; Vacek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Matoušek, Petr (referee)
Background: Treatment of addiction during the period of abstinence from the primary drug is often complicated by the development of secondary addiction. Understanding the recurring pattern of behavior of such an addicted individual on a theoretical level supports a unified theory of addiction and from a practical point of view can represent effective help and hope for addicts. The shift of addiction from one behavior addiction to another one is not yet theoretically sufficiently described. Aims: The aim of the research is to describe the development of secondary addiction in the period of abstinence from the user's point of view. Whether and under what circumstances he perceives the onset of addictive behavior. What are the causes of development and how similar is the onset of behavior with the primary diagnosed addiction. Methods: This is a case study of a single purposefully selected person who developed secondary addiction after overcoming primary addiction. The data were created by a narrative unstructured interview (life story), systematized and subsequently interpreted according to the available professional literature. Results: The Thesis mapped the use of respondent development of their addictive behavior, which begins after abstinence. The results lead to professional knowledge in the...
