Comparisons of movements during a baseball swing at pitches from a pitcher or from the pitching machine
Aubrecht, Ivan ; Pravečková, Petra (advisor) ; Carboch, Jan (referee)
Title: Comparisons of movements during a baseball swing at pitches from a pitcher or from the pitching machine Objectives: The aim of the research is analyses of kinematic record of baseball swing and its differences in mechanics while using three distinct variants. Standard live baseball pitching, practice pitching machine, and hitting from the batting tee. Methods: Conducted research is a case study descriptiveness, in which we gather a large number of data from five individuals. Video of five probands and their execution of hitting approach was created in three different variations. The record from the camera was then evaluated through the use of computer program Dartfish, which is designed for analyses of motor skills. The acquired data was formed using using a one-way analyzes of variance. Results: When hitting from the batting tee, stage of the leg kick and upper body load is substantially longer, which is caused by absence of variable of moving ball. Therefore players are not limited by timing of the hitting motion directly dependent to a moving ball. When hitting against pitching machine the time of player's load is longer in compare to facing live pitcher, which is in this case caused by the absence of conscious prediction of pitchers motion. Keywords: baseball, hitting, pitcher, pitching...
Optimalizace časování ventilového rozvodu u přeplňovaného motoru
Mahr, Ivoš
This diploma thesis deals with optimization of timing valve train on turbocharged internal combustion engine. Experimental data was collected on engine dyno which belongs to the Institute of Engineering and Automobile Transport of Mendel University in Brno. Engine parameters were improved by changes in the timing of the intake and exhaust valves. Relation between the timing of the valves and characteristics of turbocharged engine with a turbocharger was researched. The results of this study make it possible to set the timing valve train according to the load of the internal combustion engine and thus reduce its consumption and increase performance.
Methodological aspects of active place avoidance task
Bahník, Štěpán ; Stuchlík, Aleš (advisor) ; Němec, Pavel (referee)
The active place avoidance task represents one of the methods of the study of animal cognition. In this task, a subject is put on a rotating circular arena and avoids invisible sector that is stable with respect to the room. Rotation of the arena means that the subject's avoidance must be active, otherwise the subject would be moved in the punished sector by the rotation of the arena and a slight electric shock would be administered. The experiment described in the present work explored the effect of variable arena rotation speed on the ability to avoid the punished sector. Rats in a group with a variable arena rotation speed learned to avoid the punished sector with the same speed and attained the same ability to avoid the sector as rats in a group with a stable arena rotation speed. The only difference between the two groups was found in a preferred position within the room. No difference was found between the two groups in the dark phase, where the rats could not use orientation cues in the room. Only one rat was able to learn the avoidance of the punished sector in this phase. The results of the experiment suggest that idiothetic orientation and interval timing are not crucial for learning of the avoidance of the punished sector. However, idiothetic orientation is sufficient for the avoidance of the...
Intake Ports for the Wankel Engine
Smělý, Jiří ; Beran, Martin (referee) ; Svída, David (advisor)
This master’s thesis deals with design of intake port for turbocharged Mazda 13B-T engine with Wankel-type rotating piston motion aiming for possible modifications leading to increase of performance parameters. The main objective of this thesis is to propose appropriate modifications in order to achieve increased torque in widest possible engine speed range.
Central unit of the wireless sensors network
Ptáček, Zdeněk ; Macháň, Ladislav (referee) ; Pavlík, Michal (advisor)
This work deals with function and control description of wireless communication circuit nRF24L01+ and its possible use for the creation of local wireless sensor network of star topology. Further studies of the function of sensor network and designs the central control unit for measured data collecting. At the same time discusses the possibility of the battery supply and system optimization.
The device for measuring of camshafts timings
Jozíf, Lukáš ; Mazal, Pavel (referee) ; Mazůrek, Ivan (advisor)
Bachelor’s thesis is focused on constructional concept of device for measuring of camshafts timing and its wear-out. After short introduction and definitions of basic concepts there are problems of cams design analyzed and overview of the commercially offered devices is mentioned. Next part focuses on construction of the proper device including design documentation. Procedure of measuring with the device and example of some data evaluation is described. In the conclusion I evaluated constructional and economic aspect the whole concept.
