Clinical and genetic aspects of familial breast cancerFrequency of recurrent mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes in Czech republic and the role of NBN gene
Matějů, Martin ; Novotný, Jan (advisor) ; Konopásek, Bohuslav (referee) ; Vaňásek, Jaroslav (referee)
Summary: Background: An increased risk for development of hereditary breast cancer is associated with germline mutations in BRCA1/2 and the influence of NBN mutations is also supposed. The aim of this study is to specify the frequency of recurrent mutations in BRCA1/2 in unselected breast cancer patients and the frequency of most common pathogenic mutations in NBN in Czech republic, to assess current criteria for genetic testing and to consider the addition of NBN to the tested genes. Methods: Screening for recurrent mutations 5382insC and 300T>G in BRCA1 was performed by RFLP, screening for mutations in exon 11 of BRCA1 was performed by PTT, screening for mutations in a selected region of exon 11 of BRCA2 by DHPLC, and screening for mutations in exon 6 of NBN by HRMA. All the mutations were confirmed by direct sequencing. Results: In 679 unselected breast cancer patients 7 carriers of 5382insC, 3 of 300T>G, and 4 of other mutations in BRCA1 were identified. 2 locally prevalent mutations were found in BRCA2. In 730 controls only one 5382insC BRCA1 mutation was identified. Out of 5 NBN mutations found in 600 high-risk patients two were 657del5 and one R215W. A total of 8 NBN mutation carriers were identified among 703 breast cancer patients, 2 of them 657del5 carriers and three R215W carriers. In 915...

Kozúbková, Klára ; Dolanský, Pavel (advisor) ; Klabíková Rábová, Tereza (referee)
Thesis Interpretation of the Retromarketing Concept Illustrated on the Example of Contemporary Marketing Communication in the Czech Republic focuses on the interpretation of retromarketing, its current use on an example of Czech companies'campaigns (Kofola, Misa, Botas and others), the reason for Czech companies' inclination to this form of marketing communication and the psychological and sociocultural aspects of contemporary Czech society. Retromarketing is used by companies rather intuitively and currently does not have a strong theoretical basis. Aim of the thesis is to 1) interpret and clarify the concept of retromarketing and 2) to determine why is the retromarketing as a form of marketing communication utilized more and more by Czech companies and analyze examples of specific campaigns to show how is this form of marketing applied. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is focused on clarifying the concept, its integration into the wider context of marketing communications and psychological and sociocultural aspects of retromarketing. One chapter of the theoretical interpretation is then given to the interpretation and understanding of nostalgia as one of the key elements of retromarketing. In the practical part are analyzed selected examples of the...
Czech Architect during the Political Changes after 1989
Ševčíková, Lucie ; Lahoda, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Kratochvíl, Petr (referee)
In this thesis, the author wants to deal with the broad spectrum of the contemporary Czech architecture. However, the phrase "Czech architect" appears in the title to show that this thesis is not a critical analysis of the stylish development of Czech architecture, but rather a search for links and inspirations that define the modern architectural profession in Czech society. These links and connections are deeply rooted in architects' experiences before and after the political regime change. The author feels that the architects' understanding of today's society and political transformation will help clarify some uncertainties of their meaning and status. One can understand the modern architects and the course of the Czech chamber of architecture as well as the public sector with it's ever changing tendencies ever since 1989 if the broad spectrum of contemporary architecture is kept in perspective.
Finnish Epistemic Modals in Contrastive Perspective
Janoušková, Kateřina ; Fárová, Lenka (advisor) ; Čermáková, Anna (referee)
This corpus based diploma thesis takes stock of Finnish epistemic modal verbs voida, saattaa, taitaa and mahtaa and surveys their translational counterparts as they can be found in the parallel corpus InterCorp. The aim of the thesis is to find out what tendencies there can be found in the translation of the modals in question. In the theoretical part, there is, firstly, a description of both modality and modal verbs in Finnish and Czech, secondly, of the differences between the approaches to modality in both languages and, thirdly, of the features of translated language. In the analytical part, the translations are sorted out into categories based on the particular modal specifiers. The description of the different modal specifier categories follows.
