The bachelor thesis deals with impact of price regulation of drugs in the Czech republic and the Slovak republic on the status of interest groups. The aim of this thesis is to describe methods of price regulation of drugs in the Czech republic and to evaluate impact of setting maximal prices of drugs. The thesis also solves the problem of parallel trade with drugs in the Czech republic, compares it with situation in Slovak republic and is looking for possible solutions to this problem.
The role of logistics in the pharmaceutical industry

Bachelor thesis deals with the logistics of the supply chain in the pharmaceutical industry, while focusing on the wholesalers operating this sector in the Czech market. The introduction presents general requirements related to the storage and distribution of drugs, imposed by the regulatory authorities and pharmaceutical manufacturers. Subsequently, the thesis discusses recent events that have altered the nature of the industry globally as well as locally. The emphasis is placed on the transformation of relations between individual actors of the supply chain, which was caused by the increase of production of drugs in developing countries, the changing nature of pharmaceutical products and the fast technology development. Further, it describes the system of drug distribution in the domestic market and analyzes the positions and business strategies of the largest wholesale companies. Presented are arguments why another mergers and acquisitions are expected in the near future. The result of the analysis is a proposition of business strategy for chosen company that should contribute to maintaining its position in the Czech market.

Valuation of a Pharmacy

The goal of this diploma thesis is the estimation of the objective value of a pharmacy as of 31. 12. 2010. In line with standard valuation process, in the first part the financial analysis gives a fair estimate of the financial health and effectivity of the company. Subsequently, the strategic analysis deals with long-term perspectives of the respective company, together with a detailed analysis of the company's industry. The first two parts are used as a basis for prognosis of value generators and financial plan preparation. The final value of the company is determined by means of two methods, DCF equity and capitalized net earnings method.

This thesis is dedicated to the potential of pharmaceutical industry targeting an increase in EU world competitiveness. Pharmaceutical industry plays an important role in world economy, both from the social and economic point of view. In particular, this thesis is focused on macroeconomic contribution of pharmaceutical industry into world economy emphasizing the situation of EU. Particularly, the thesis consists of evaluating the situation, importance and barriers of development of pharmaceutical industry in EU and it, also, points out the main directions towards positive development of this sector, including the international and national cooperation. Pharmaceutical industry is the key sector in the EU competitiveness increase.
International Patent Rights Regulation and its Effects on Indian Pharmaceutical Industry

The purpose of the thesis is to analyse the effects of the international regulation of patent rights on pharmaceutical industry in India and to sum up the implementation of the TRIPS Agreement in India with regard to public health in developing countries. The patent rights regulation under the TRIPS Agreement (which all memebers of WTO have approached) and which has an important impact on pharmaceutical industry in developing countries and availibility of cheap pharmaceuticals in general are described in the first part. How India faced these challenges (introduction of extensive intellectual property rights) - analysis of Indian patent regulation and how local pharmaceutical industry managed to adopt to these changes and what are its prospects for the future is the content of the second part of the thesis. The third part is dedicated to the selected impacts on public health in the developing countries.

Upozorňuje na silné vládní intervence ve farmaceutickém průmyslu a na restrikci reklamy v této oblasti. Práce dále znázorňuje vládní tlumení tržních principů, které jsou proti efektivnímu fungování celého systému.
Regulation of Advertising of Drugs - Education of Consumer

The main objective of my diploma thesis was to explain the principles and basic terms of drug policy in the Czech Republic, and to illustrate all the issues of government regulations in this area. This paper is trying to confront two different kinds of health services. The first one based on liberal principles, without any government intervention (system in USA), and the second one demarcating with regulations and restrictions, devoid of any free market fundamentals (system in EU). It describes the relationship between patient and doctor, and points out the different number of information, they dispose of. This paper is trying to explain the problem of skewed distribution of information in society. It presents how the government regulations in the free market area destroy the source allocation efficiency and goes against the satisfaction of customers' needs.
