Valdhans, Jan ; Urbášková, Hana (referee) ; Boháč, Ivo (advisor)
Abstract In the town of Kroměříž, in an attractive location near significant heritage-protected sites such as the Květná zahrada (Flower Garden) and the forest park area of the psychiatric hospital, as well as the popular excursion spot Barbořina, there is currently an unused, relatively large undeveloped area. The city council’s intention is to construct residential buildings with minor multifunctional features in this locality. The subject of my bachelor’s thesis was to find and develop a building solution that would offer a pleasant environment and comprehensive functions to support the lives of local residents, in line with current urban development trends. My work involved creating an overall conceptual solution, an urban layout proposal for the area, and developing a project for a new multifunctional building within the scope of architectural studies.

It is a time when an individual is going through an important stage in their lives when they have to become independent and start to forge their own path. At the same time, however, this personal growth is is faced with the reality of rising housing prices, which makes the process of finding a new home even more challenging. Finding suitable housing that that meets at least the basic requirements becomes a real challenge that can affect the overall quality of an individual's life. In addition to individuals who are trying to become independent and start a new life, there is also a group of people who are not satisfied with their current living situation. For them, housing is more than just a place to live. They are looking for a space where they can live their everyday experiences and where they where they feel truly at home. These individuals desire a place where they will feel a sense of belonging and well-being, where they will be able to freely express their individuality and develop their interests. For them, housing is an important part of their lives, affecting not only their physical emotional and psychological well-being. Today, when the city offers a wealth of options and opportunities, it is important that housing is more than just a functional space to sleeping. It is where we are born, grow and create our most precious memories. That's why it's important for housing to be a place, that inspires, drives and encourages us to develop personally and live happily. The aim of this project is to create affordable urban housing for everyone in Kroměříž, with a focus on people and their lives needs. The proposed concept focuses on housing, but also provides amenities for the leisure time of the residents. Project includes 6 apartment buildings, two of which are equipped with polyfunction. Each of the houses is unique, differing in appearance and materials used in their construction. Some have balconies or terraces, others do not, and each is designed to respond to classical shapes of the surrounding buildings, but with a modern twist. They are set in a green area, complemented by a square and a park with water features, which creates a pleasant and functional urban environment for all residents.
Mix/Match Brno
Elbel, Markéta Marie ; Havliš, Karel (referee) ; Toman, Radek (advisor)
The Open! project works with the context of a gap on Hlinky Street near the centre of Brno City. A gap that is narrow and neglected, but also waiting to be filled, to connect its neighbours, to complete the street line. The aim of the work is not only to effectively fill the space in the form of a residential building, but also to remember that the gap is an opening between two worlds: a lively and busy street and a quiet, green garden on the other side of the plot. The combination of full volumes and open spaces creates the opportunity to peer over the edge - to follow the sunlight and distant chirping of birds, and to search for fragments of a grown tree in between. The project also takes its name, Open!, to the scale of the interior, with individual apartments designed with varying degrees of sharing and number of inhabitants. The combination of retractable wooden partitions allows the degree of privacy and atmosphere in the space to be modified. In terms of interpersonal relationships between the occupants, the work uses principles of communal living, giving people the opportunity to take roots in the space as well as use it on a short-term basis, which is particularly ideal for young professionals, students or the elderly.

Hanáková, Sascha ; Rozwalka, Szymon (referee) ; Toman, Radek (advisor)
The bachelor thesis Not Only Human deals with the design of an object whose primary function is to fill a gap on Hlinky Street, in the wider centre of Brno. Currently, there are three garages and a temporary warehouse building on the plot in question, and the thesis envisages their removal. The new building complements the existing development, while its height respects the scale of the surrounding buildings. The functional content of the proposed building is primarily housing, which is complemented by the function of a children's leisure centre and community spaces for the residents of the apartment building. The design seeks to link the urban fabric with the more relaxed nature of the countryside that surrounds the site to the north.

Šarišský, Vít ; Kristek, Jan (referee) ; Rozwalka, Szymon (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is dealing with the design of an operational centre for the management of public greenery in the Kraví hora area in Brno. The proposed object is to strengthen and support the conceptual integrity of the greenery of Kraví hora and similarly support the state of greenery in the surrounding areas. The work also deals with the theme of architecture of boundary between the human and the natural. Architecture that may be more of an idea, a prototype and an experiment. It deals with architecture that can present more questions than solutions and creates relationships between coincidence and intention. An acknowledged artificiality and naturality. An architecture that is contextual, organic, radical and essentially ambivalent.

Došková, Adriana ; Velková, Soňa (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with a hotel in India, which is supposed to serve mainly for tired truckers who come to rest, eat or use the toilets after a long journey. The construction site is located on National Highway 544 in India, which connects Tamil Nadu with the city of Kochi in Kerala. The selected area is located in Kannadi -Kerala. The surroundings of the plot are used as arable land and there is a service of the Renault car company and other smaller businesses nearby. The lot is largely occupied by a parking lot for trucks and cars. The object itself is designed as a separate two-story building with a green flat roof and an atrium inspired by traditional Indian dwellings. The structure of the building consists of a wall system made of bricks and is supplemented with reinforced concrete columns in the atrium and at the entrance. The first aboveground floor has mixed functions, where there are spaces for the public, employees, toalets, but also the first rooms for guests. On the second aboveground floor, there are rooms for guests, common sanitary facilities and areas for staff. The dominant feature of the building is the atrium with greenery, seating and a place for prayer. The facade of the building is made of perforated sheet metal, which is easily available in India and in a copper brown color, it gently blends in with the surroundings, but its shape attracts visitors from the surrounding area.

Vrzalová, Anna ; Wolf, Petr (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis focuses on a residential building designed primarily for young people as starter and transitional housing, with the possibility of renting space on the ground floor. The construction site is located in the Řečkovice district of Brno, surrounded by existing residential buildings and family houses. The parcel is adjacent to the main road Terezy Novákové to the east and gradually slopes westward, where it borders the garden of a local kindergarten. On the same plot, construction is already underway for two additional residential buildings with a library and a municipal hall. The immediate vicinity is well-equipped and accessible by public transportation. Regarding automobile traffic, a new road is being created on the plot, connected to the one-way street Družstevní and the main road Terezy Novákové. The western part of the plot is designated as a park with a children's playground and a workout area, in accordance with local requirements. The building itself is designed as a separate four-story basement structure with a flat roof. The construction of the building consists of a transverse wall system with a monolithic reinforced concrete ceiling structure. The cubic shape is chosen to efficiently and simply utilize the building's surface area. The ground floor contains rentable spaces and the entrance to the main residential section. The underground floor houses cellar compartments. The 2nd to 4th floors comprise residential units, each designed as a studio apartment with a balcony. The facade is finished with white plaster complemented by light frames around windows and doors. Metal railings, balcony slabs, and the canopies over the main entrances are made of concrete, providing additional architectural accents.
