Development of Pupils' Algorithmic Thinking Through Game Projects in Scratch
Benýšek, Vojtěch ; Štípek, Jiří (advisor) ; Černochová, Miroslava (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of developing pupils' algorithmic thinking through gaming projects in the Scratch development environment. The main goal of the work was to create a set of interconnected lessons (a course) in Scratch, which could be used as educational material in computer science classes to develop algorithmic thinking of students aged 8-10 years. The theoretical part mainly addresses the concept of computational, or rather, algorithmic thinking, relying on the study of professional sources. It focuses on explaining and defining these terms, identifying the possibilities of developing algorithmic thinking with an emphasis on programming. To find further approaches to the development of algorithmic thinking, both the Czech Republic's educational plan and those of selected European countries were analyzed. The insights gained in the theoretical part were subsequently utilized in the practical part, i.e., in creating the course itself. This course consists of ten lessons, the main content of which is project creation. To motivate students, it was decided that the projects would always be games. The lessons, besides the possible solution procedure, also contain methodological notes, which alert teachers to potential pitfalls or inform them how to present the given topic. The...
Scratch software extension for the Lego Mindstorms robotic learning tool
PELIKÁN, Matěj
The aim of the final thesis was to develop an extension of the online block programming environment Scratch for controlling Lego Mindstorms on tasks from the textbook Robotics with LEGO? Mindstorms for 2nd grade elementary school.
Game for Teaching Very Basic Programming
Rončka, Martin ; Beran, Vítězslav (referee) ; Herout, Adam (advisor)
The main goal of this thesis is to create a game for teaching very basic programming. An analysis of current programming education games and education principles takes up the first part of this thesis. This is followed by a design and implementation of visual programming interface in Unity3d and later integration of this interface into a simple game supporting the foundings from the first part of the thesis. This thesis is then being evaluated from the technical and user perspective with the goal to analyze the effectiveness of both the visual programming interface and the game as a tool to introduce programming to non-coders.
Learning Software for Visual and Text-Based Programming in Lua/LÖVE
Medek, Petr ; Křivka, Zbyněk (referee) ; Rychlý, Marek (advisor)
This thesis pertains visual programming in Lua language with LÖVE framework. Within this thesis was created web application for teaching programming in Lua/LÖVE. Application supports both block and text based programming. Created games can be easily launched on Android platfrom using the Android app that was created in this thesis. The web app also includes tutorials that are well suited for education in schools.
Possibilities of using computer Raspberry Pi in teaching at elementary school.
DVOŘÁK, Michal
This Bachelor thesis deals with testing of the performance, abilities and possibilities of a minicomputer Raspberry Pi 4 model B for it's utilization in primary school edu-cation. Raspberry Pi 4 model B is a minicomputer from British charity organization Raspberry Pi Foundation which made it as a teaching support for informatics classes at schools. In the theoretical part of this thesis, topics as personal computer, operating systems and computer hardware are elaborated on. The practical part deals with tes-ting the minicomputer itself, it's process and the results. It also includes sample in-structions and applications that could be appropriate for inclusion to the primary school education. In the conclusion of the thesis, I elaborated on the evaluation of the possibilities of the minicomputer Raspberry Pi 4 model B in primary school edu-cation and on the contrary, for which purposes it is not suitable.
Youtubering in education
KOUBA, Tomáš
This thesis focuses on issues of videos in teaching. Specifically, educational videos on the YouTube server and their directly use in teaching or a supplement to teaching. The main goal of this work is to create several educational videos which are focused on the visual programming language "Scratch". The primary school students were the target group for these videos and the final videos have been adapted for them. I focused on studying literature and an analysis of already created audio-visual materials which are related to this issue; according to it will be proceed with the creation of content. Within the thesis the feedback will be collected by the questionnaire and then will be analysed for the created videos.

Some approaches to the conceptual development of the principles of computer programming in SCRATCH in primary and middle school aged pupils
Šandová, Hana ; Černochová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Novák, Jaroslav (referee)
TITLE: Teaching approaches to pupils' concept development about computer programming in SCRATCH AUTHOR: Bc. Hana Šandová DEPARTMENT: Department of information technology and education SUPERVISOR: Doc. RNDr. Miroslava Černochová, CSc. ABSTRACT: This thesis deals with perceptions of pupils about how computers and computer programs work. The main objective is to inquire of pupils (ISCED-2) about how computer and computer programs work, and what ideas influence them. The theoretical part focuses on the history of the use of computers in teaching and an analysis of current approaches to teaching computer science and programming in the Czech Republic and in selected European countries. The practical part is devoted to mapping concepts of pupils aged 11-14 years involved in a teaching experiment organized at two schools in Prague, the aim of which was to examine the impact of teaching programming in "Scratch" over one semester in relation to pupil's ideas about how a computer works and in terms of the development of pupil's computational thinking. KEYWORDS: pupil's imagination, algorithm, programming, computational thinking, Scratch
Programming in elementary school and development of students' algorithmic thinking
Milichovská, Lucie ; Štípek, Jiří (advisor) ; Vaňková, Petra (referee)
This thesis deals with development of algorithmic thinking and teaching programming in elementary school. It focuses on available ways and tools suitable for classes. The practical part of the thesis is focused on children's programming language Scratch, which is one of the tools designed to be used for teaching. The main goal is to create comprehensive collections of tasks that develop algorithmic thinking of pupils aged 9 - 10 years. The tasks get more complex gradually so that the pupils don't need any previous programming experience. Also they are designed so that they can be solved without the assistance of a teacher. All the tasks were checked against a set of pupils in the given age range. The collection of tasks is also made available as a web presentation for the ease of further use.
