Development of tactile perception in blind children of preschool age
Vacková, Adéla ; Šumníková, Pavlína (advisor) ; Bertlová, Barbora (referee)
The bachelor's thesis addresses the topic of developing tactile perception in preschool-aged children who are visually impaired. Tactile perception is a key factor for individuals with visual impairments, especially for those who are blind, as it facilitates a more manageable and meaningful life. People with visual impairments rely on tactile perception (as well as other sensory perceptions). These individuals focus primarily on individual details, which they gradually connect to form an overall picture of a given object. The thesis includes basic theories on visual impairment, tactile perception, and typhlography. The subsequent sections focus on the development of tactile perception, stimulation, thinking, creativity, and imagination in preschool-aged children with visual impairments, as well as the importance of developing tactile perception in these children. The research was conducted using qualitative methods, with data collected through semi-structured interviews and observations. The study involved children with visual impairments and their educators from the Jaroslav Ježek Kindergarten. For comparison, interviews and observations were also conducted with children without visual impairments. The research mainly focused on the development of tactile perception in children with visual...
Tactile perception children with severe visual impairment through application of STIP test
Kramosilová, Zuzana ; Květoňová, Lea (advisor) ; Šumníková, Pavlína (referee)
The aim of this thesis was to provide a comprehensive summary of findings and statistical results of verification of visually impaired children's tactile abilities in preschool age (5 - 8 years), early school age (9 - 12 years) and older school age (13 - 17 years) using STIP tests I. - III. (Speed of Tactile Information Processing). The STIP test, taken from the English original, is converted into Braille and testing reading abilities of numerals. The test assesses accuracy - error making in lines, rate and concentration.
Analysis of tactile books for children with severe visual impairment in the context of teaching the Czech language
Čechová, Magdalena ; Květoňová, Lea (advisor) ; Hádková, Kateřina (referee)
The first part of the Thesis explores the specifics (developmental and educational) of a visually impaired pupil. The sense of touch is defined as being the major compensatory sense of visually impaired people. It also describes the principles and forms of the effective haptization and proposes suitable activities for the development of the touch perception. Through the basic tactile-graphics procedures, the text gets to its central theme, which is the tactile books (books with textures designed for the visually impaired). These books, as well as the possibilities of their borrowing or purchasing, are presented to a reader. Using the analysis and comparison of the available specialized materials, the Thesis summarizes the methodical procedures used for the creation of the tactile textbooks, which are suitable for the integrated visually impaired children in the lessons of the Czech Language. KEYWORDS: the sense of touch, touch perception, tactile books, visually impaired pupils, tactile graphics
Support for the development of tactile perception through the material of the Tactual profile
SVOBODOVÁ, Kristýna
The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of support of the development of tactile perception through the material Tactual Profile. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to create an individual plan for the development of tactile perception of a selected pupil with visual impairment using the Tactual Profile material. The partial goal was to evaluate the individual child development plan. And the research question was set for the above objectives: How did the Tactual Profile contribute to the development of tactile perception in case of the chosen pupil? The thesis is divided into two parts, a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part is divided into two chapters. The first chapter deals with the definition of the terms of visual impairment, etiology, classification. The second chapter is concerned with education of pupils with visual impairment, i.e. institutional and legislative anchoring, special pedagogical care, and re-education and compensation possibilities, which include tactile and auditory perception or higher compensatory senses. The practical part includes three chapters. The third chapter defines the aims of the work and the methodical procedure, including the introduction of the Tactual Profile method, and the child educated in the kindergarten, who was the subject of the research. The qualitative strategy in case study design using methods of document analysis, participating observation and interview with teachers is used to fulfil the objectives of this work. The fourth chapter presents proposals of special pedagogical interventions for individual development of the monitored child. The final fifth chapter is dedicated to summary and discussion.
Test of tactile perception - "Tactual profile" for pupils of younger school age with visual impairment
Ticháčková, Klára ; Šumníková, Pavlína (advisor) ; Květoňová, Lea (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the Tactual Profile test of tactile perception and is aimed at pupils of younger school age with severe visual impairment. The theoretical part is devoted to topics of visual impairment, tactile perception, other compensatory senses and specifics in the development of visually impaired children in preschool age. The theoretical background of the work is supplemented by current studies from the American environment dealing with the importance of developing children's tactile perception in connection with subsequent Braille teaching. The thesis contains a detailed description of Tactual Profile, including material history and theoretical basis. Then it is followed by the research part, which was processed by the quantitative method. The results obtained by testing were processed into graphs according to individual material categories. The thesis also includes two examination reports as an example of possible evaluation in practice. The aim of this thesis is to determine the level of tactile perception in younger school age children with severe visual impairment by Tactual Profile. Another intention is to create an abbreviated version of this test, which could form a proposal for functional examination of touch in school and counseling practice. This abbreviated version...
Development of tactual perception for preschool children with severe visual impairment and blind - Tactual Profile
Košíková, Adéla ; Šumníková, Pavlína (advisor) ; Květoňová, Lea (referee)
This diploma thesis addresses the topic of tactile perception examined in the cases of children with severe visual impairment as well as in the cases of blind children aged from three to six years. Tactile perception is assessed by the Tactual Profile test. The introduction of this thesis briefly summarizes the issue of visual perception, specifics of development of a pre-school child with a visual impairment, tactile perception and other compensating senses, and the importance of play in the pre-school period. The second part of this thesis is focused on the Tactual Profile test and its description. The following part is dedicated to research based on applying the aforementioned method of the non- standardized Tactual Profile test. The test, or more precisely the testing tool, is used for diagnosing the level of tactile development among children with severe visual impairment and among blind children. The test results provide the possibility to assess the status of tactile perception of the specific child and determine areas which are challenging for the child as well as areas in which the stated child excels. The goal of this research was to ascertain the applicability of the test regarding the target group and examine its potential utilization in the special education practice. The research also...
Examination of the tactile perception of visually impaired pupils of older school-age through an assessment procedure called Tactual Profile
Kunstová, Adéla ; Šumníková, Pavlína (advisor) ; Květoňová, Lea (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on the problematics of examination of tactile perception in older school-age pupils with severe visual impairment. The thesis has got three main parts. The first part deals with tactile perception, defines its main characteristics, properties and obstacles associated with tactile perception. It also deals with the role of touch in the life of pupils with visual impairment. A large part of this chapter focuses on the description of orientation aids for visually impaired students. In conclusion, there are mentioned the diagnostic instruments by which the tactile perception is judged. The second part deals with the Tactual Profile observation instrument. There is a detailed description of its purpose and use and there are also mentioned foreign studies on this instrument of Dutch origin. The practical part includes the study of the level of tactile perception in school-aged pupils with visual impairment through the Tactual Profile test. The aim of this diploma thesis is to determine the functionality and usability of this test material (Tactual Profile) in praxis in the given age group of pupils and students with visual impairment. Keywords Tactile perception, touch, visual impairment, Tactual Profile test, school age, older school-age pupils, diagnostics, blindness.
