Phrasal Idioms at Primary School

The thesis deals with students of the fourth and fifth grades of primary school. The subject of the research is their knowledge and understanding of selected phraseological units, namely weather lores and proverbs. In the theoretical part of the thesis the most important terms of phraseology as a linguistic discipline are defined. The characteristic of idioms is explained as well as their meaning. Various criteria according to which phraseologisms can be classified are presented. Furthermore, the thesis deals with possible variants and variations of phraseological units. Last but not least, the theoretical part of the thesis offers insight into the influence of the family environment and primary school on the child's knowledge of idioms. The practical part elaborates the research survey, which was carried out using a quantitative research method - a questionnaire. The questionnaire was preceded by an analysis of Czech language textbooks, which focused on the occurrence of idioms and ways of working with them. The survey form focuses on weather lore and proverbs and contains three different types of tasks. In the first one, students connect the beginnings and endings of idioms. Phrases in children's literature

The bachelor thesis examines the relationship between phraseology and children's literature. The main aim of this thesis is to show how phrases enrich literary texts and support the linguistic and emotional development of young readers. The thesis is structured in two main parts. The theoretical part begins with an overview of lexicology basics, continues with definitions of key concepts of phraseology and its history, and concludes with a discussion of children's literature, illuminating various aspects of its development and specifics. The practical part focuses on the analysis of phrases in six selected works for children and young people, and then illustrates how the occurrence and use of phrases evolves and adapts depending on the age of the text and the age of the addressees.
Knowledge of Idioms in Basic School Pupils

This thesis focuses on phraseology and its integration into the teaching of Czech language and literature in primary school. The aim is to present a detailed analysis of a research investigation focused on the knowledge of idioms among pupils of a selected primary school. In the theoretical part of the thesis, firstly, important concepts in the field of phraseology are defined - definition, characteristics and functions of idioms, their updating. Subsequently, it is observed how the phraseology curriculum is integrated into the Framework Educational Programme for Primary Education and the School Educational Programme of the selected primary school. Furthermore, a detailed analysis of the phraseology curriculum in selected textbooks of Czech language and literature for primary schools is presented. This thesis presents previous research on the knowledge and understanding of phraseology and presents their results. The practical part of the thesis deals with a research investigation in which pupils of the second stage of the selected primary school and pupils of the fourth and fifth grades of the first stage of the same school took part. Italian idioms containing the names of body parts and their Czech equivalents

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to introduce Italian somatic idioms, ie those that contain the name of a body part. The work is divided into two parts. The first, theoretical part, presents the basic terminology, especially the definition of the terms "phrasal idiom" and "idiom", presents their properties, their internal structure and function. Furthermore, a brief historical and cultural insight into the topic is made and, last but not least, a comparison of the Czech and Italian conceptions of the issue is made. In the second part, the analysis of a selected sample of Italian somatic idioms is performed, the selected sample is analyzed in terms of formal, ie. according to the internal structure. However, the main task of the thesis is to indicate the possibilities in the translation of selected idioms and to present possible equivalents in the Czech language, including the introduction of various translation strategies. Furthermore, the possibilities of syntactic manipulation and internal transformation of idioms are also presented.
Phraseology and its Applicability in Foreign Languages Teaching and Learning

This thesis is concerned with phraseology and its intertwining with didactics of foreign languages. The practical part consists of the analysis of a contemporary situation in didactics of foreign languages, particularly the utilization of idioms. Further, the frequency of using proverbs and other set phrases in modern textbooks for teaching foreign languages (namely German and Russian) is analysed. Numeral Expressions in Slavonic Phraseology (Czech-Russian comparison) This Bachelor`s thesis demonstrates Czech and Russian numeral phrasems and idioms comparison. The following phraseological and idiomatical dictionaries were excerpted for its purposes: Czech phraseological and idiomatical dictionary, 1-3 volume (F. Čermák a kolektiv, Slovník české frazeologie a idiomatiky, Praha: Academia, 1983-1994, , 1. -3. díl), Molotkov's Russian language phraseological dictionary ( . , , : , 1986) and Thesaurus-dictionary of modern Russian idiomatics (. . , . . , - , +, 2007). The extracted material was subsequently analyzed from the point of structure, quantity (frequency) and equivalency of phrasems and idioms. Regarding theoritical aspects this Bachelor`s thesis contains both selected information concerning the history and traditions of phraseology and idiomatics in Czech and Russian linguistics and chapters devoted to symbolics of numerals and semantics of selected phrasems and idioms.
Phrasemes in the work by M. Viewegh and their Czech Translations. A Corpus Analysis.

This thesis deals with contrastive phraseology. It compares the use of phrasemes in the work by M. Viewegh and their German translations, with focus on somatic phrasemes. The thesis is conceived as a corpus analysis. For the purpose of the thesis was chosen three Vieweghs texts and their German translations from the InterCorp corpus for comparison. InterCorp is a parallel corpus that was created at the Institute of the Czech National Corpus at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. The object of the work is to describe differences or correspondences in the use of somatic phrasemes in the work by Viewegh and its German translations. Religious phrasemes in Czech and Russian (based on corpora research)

In this bachelor thesis we are exploring phrases with religious motives in czech and russian languages. This thesis contains two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is focused on summarizing phraseology history as a linguistical discipline. Beside that, it contains a number of the phraseological and idiomatical classifications by the different criteria. The practical part analyses the phrases and idioms with Biblical, ancient and Slavic polytheism origins by its degree of the equivalence and relative frequency in the chosen language corporas (ČNK - SYN and RNK - publicistic and basic). Idioms with Animal Components in Czech and Chinese

This graduation thesis is dedicated to the animal phraseology in Czech and Chinese languages.The author focused on the analysis of animal idioms on the basis of the syntactical, formal and semantic aspects. She created an index of animal idioms in both languages on the basis of the relevant dictionaries - Slovník české frazeologie a idiomatiky 1. - 4. and Hanyu Chengyu Jinghua Cidian. Furthermore she made a mutual comparison of these idioms from both languages. The Czech National Corpus and Chinese Corpus were used as the main sources for the analysis.
