Development of velomobile
Adámek, Silvestr ; Prokop, Aleš (referee) ; Řehák, Kamil (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deal with one of a lesser-known means of transport as velomobile certainly is at the moment. This research aims to the development and overall complexity of these modern human-powered vehicles using aerodynamics to its advantage. Due to absence of internal combustion engine, velomobiles reduce negative environmental impacts but also dependence of fossil fuels. Different specifications of velomobiles such as wheels configuration, propulsion system and its usage are being analysed in this study as well as main construction elements or invariably innovated materials. For instance, carbon fibres are one of the modern materials contributing to the strength and lightness of velomobile. Modern approaches goes hand in hand with the development of these modern vehicles, aerodynamics optimalizations of the vehicle body, construction strength or questions regarding electric propulsion to be more specific. Although velomobiles represent an efficient way of transportation, initial costs, weight and size could be impediment to the wider public.
Aerodynamic design of racing car engine air intake

This Bachelor thesis deals with charting the development of the automotive aerodynamics in the post-war period. It focuses on principles that go along with car design. The development is demonstrated by aerodynamically significant and unusual cars including racing and record cars. Last but not least, the work compares those cars with today's cars and describes drawbacks of the cars of the given period from today's perspective.
Virtual Reality Enabled Flight Simulator
Ruta, Dominik ; Vlk, Jan (referee) ; Chudý, Peter (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the development of a flight simulator, which uses its own simlaution core to run an aircraft dynamic model. The simulation framework cosists of a motion model, the Earth atmosphere model, aerodynamics and inertial characteristics of the aircraft and an aircraft propulsion model. The Unity 3D software was used for the simulation enviroment and user interface development. The 3D models of the cockpit and the aircraft were modeled in a student version of the 3DS Max. The presented simulator also supports the virtual reality for higher simulation autenticity and an improved sense of realism.
Aerodynamic design of the last stage of a steam turbine
Jeřábek, Lukáš ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Kracík, Petr (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with calculations of a steam turbine with two uncontrolled extraction points according to the assignment, aerodynamics of the last two stages and operating range with respect to ventilation, range of performance and straining of the last blading under the large condensation pressure deviations. For the first three stages the calculation of prismatic action blades is executed. The fourth and the fifth stages are designed with inconstant reaction over the blades length and their calculation is executed with constant circulation method. For these stages, aerofoil design with respect to their aerodynamic qualities is carried out using Bézier curves. During the whole time verification process of aerofoils qualities, their energy losses and isoentropic Mach number distribution is executed in MISES program in cooperation with Doosan Škoda Power.
Influence of wing design modification on aircraft polar curve
Mixová, Alexandra ; Matějů, Jiří (referee) ; Navrátil, Jan (advisor)
This thesis focuses on determining the polar curve of Roko NG aircraft, its evaluation and design of possible wing modification; on the influence of said modification on the polar curve and determination of basic flight performance. The introduction explains basic concepts and problems of aerodynamics. The following part discusses the particular type in comparison with similar ultralight aircrafts. Measurement determines the actual polar curve which can be compared to the analytically determined polar curve of the existing airplane, and to the analytically determined polar curve of the plane with modified wing. From this newly defined polar curve, the basic flight performance is expressed and compared with the flight performance of the existing aircraft.
Front Wing for Formula Student
Vrubel, Vít ; Šebela, Kamil (referee) ; Janoušek, Michal (advisor)
This work deals with the verification of the design of the front wing on the Formula Student car. The work is divided into three parts. In the first, a search of the wings used in the Formula Student competition is performed. The second part is devoted to the experiment and the last part is devoted to CFD calculations and comparisons with measured values. Computations were done on computational resources supplied by the project „e-Infrastruktura CZ“ (e-INFRA LM2018140) provided within the program Projects of Large Research, Development and Innovations Infrastructures. Computational resources were provided by the ELIXIR-CZ project (LM2015047), part of the international ELIXIR infrastructure.
Flight performance of the STOL light sport airplane
Koudelka, Jaroslav ; Sklenář, Filip (referee) ; Juračka, Jaroslav (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate effect of individual parts of the selected aircraft on its aerodynamic characteristics and to summarize possible directions of aircraft modifications with taking into account increasing its cruising speed while maintaining STOL performances. The first part of this thesis is focused on the description of selected aircraft construction and its legislative categorization. Then follows the theoretical part describing the basic terms of horizontal flight mechanics, the creation of drag and drag types. The practical part contains the evaluation of the drag influence for individual aircraft parts, their possible directions of improving and the final summary how the modified parts influence flight performances.
