Europeans in the U.S. in light of the 1920 census

Europeans in the U.S. in light of the 1920 census Abstract This bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of European immigrants in the United States in the early 20th century. The main objective is to analyze people born in Europe using already processed data for individual persons from the 1920 U.S. census. The population of European immigrants is first studied as a whole and then several national groups (Germans, Italians, Scandinavians, English, Irish, Jews and Poles) are defined and analyzed separately. The main object of the analysis is the sociodemographic structure of European immigrants with a primary focus on sex, age, occupation, urbanization, and literacy. The geographic distribution of European immigrants within the U.S. is also analyzed. In addition, the results of the analysis are compared with specialized literature. The subject of the bachelor thesis „Foreigners on the labour market in the CR” is an analysis of the development of labour immigration in the Czech Republic. The first part focuses on the breakdown of migration, the qualification of the for-eign labour force and the economic impact of labour immigration. The following chapters describe the development of labour immigration in the Czech Republic from 1995 to the present and the subsequent evaluation of the findings.
Latin-American immigration to Spain during the last twenty years

This thesis refers to Latin-American immigration to Spain during the last twenty years (1990 - 2010). This thesis is divided in two main parts. The first part is devoted to a general overview and also to the most important aspects related to the emigration of Latin Americans into Spain. The individual chapters are focused on the following topics: discussion and development of research of immigration in Spain, the roots of Latin American emigration, Spain as the destination of emigrants, migration policy of Spain, the composition of the Latin American population living in Spain, the integration of Latin American immigrants in Spanish labour market and Latin American gangs in Spain. The second part of this thesis is dedicated to a research focusing on the coexistence of Spanish and Latin Americans in the Iberian Peninsula. Based on the survey the following aspects are examined: the reasons of Latin Americans leading to emigration to Spain, experience of Latin American emigrants with attitude of Spanish people towards them, attitude of Spanish towards immigrants and last but not least the integration of Latin American immigrants into the Spanish society. Implementation of immigration policy by European Comission in period 1999 - 2014

The thesis examines immigration politic of European commission, respectively its implementation, on the basis of three programmes of European council (Tampere, Hague and Stockholm). It tries to show, whether can the theory of failed policy, which states that countries are not able to control immigration, be applied also for the European union. From the programmes are earmared individual goals, which should European commission start to implement in the next quinquennial period. On their basis then runs the research itself, divided into two parts. First of them tries to answer, whether European commission did fulfill the goals of individual programmes through its regulations, directives and recommendations. The second part reasearches, how were selected legislative proposals implemented in practise and if they served to their purpose. Both parts are interconnected, so that they correspond to individual programmes.

Labour migration from Serbia to the Czech Republic.

The thesis deals with the current labour migration from the Republic of Serbia to the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to answer three basic questions: What are the push factors for labour migrants from Serbia to emigrate to the Czech Republic? What are the pull factors for labour migrants from Serbia to move to the Czech Republic? Do migration networks play a role in the moving of labour migrants from Serbia to the Czech Republic, and if so, what role is that? To achieve the answers, a qualitative analysis of 27 ethnographic interviews with labour migrants from Serbia, living in the Czech Republic, is used, along with an analysis of migration theories, concepts, and phenomena. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the methodological approach and analysis of available literature. The second part presents relevant migration theories (push-pull theory, migration network theory, neoclassical economic theory, new economic approaches, globalization theory, and transnationalization theory), concepts (gastarbeiter and diaspora), phenomena (brain drain), and terms used in the work. The third part of the thesis provides an analysis of certain aspects of immigration policy and immigration trends in the Czech Republic, as well as migration trends from Serbia to the Czech Republic. Foreinger-Immigrant in the Bible and today: the study of relevant biblical concepts and their contextualization

The thesis deals with the importance of the foreigner-immigrant and his position in the Bible and today. With the use of the Bible, standard dictionaries and biblical commentaries the goal is to explore the Old and New Testament texts and with the help of exegeses of the secondary authors identify, analyze and critically evaluate impacts of those relevant biblical texts related to the topic of illegal immigration that are a part of immigration discussions today. The aim of the theoretical part was to get acquainted with the appropriate domestic and foreign literature which from the Christian point of view deals with the problematics of the migration and illegal immigration in particular. The practical part consisted in a mutual comparison of various exegeses of relevant biblical texts, highlighting possible similarities and differences resulting from the exegeses and pointing out benefits for the immigration discussion today.
