Europe's strategy for Tech Security in the Era of Raw Critical Materials
Štěpánek, Vojtěch ; Karásek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Bureš, Oldřich (referee)
This diploma thesis is a single case study focusing on the European Union's approach to the issue of critical materials as a security concern. Critical raw materials will play an increasingly important role in Europe due to the ambitious Green Deal policy. The technologies necessary to address environmental challenges require a significant share of materials identified as critical in Europe. However, the problem is that most of these materials are concentrated in unstable and undemocratic regimes, which may pose strategic rivals. This creates a threat that supplier states may use critical materials as a tool of power and thus jeopardize the economic security of European Union countries. This thesis examines critical materials as a phenomenon, analyzes their criticality and relationship to technologies. It further conducts an analysis of selected critical materials and their risks, particularly about the nature of supplier states. The final chapter addresses the European strategy in this area and describes how critical materials affect strategic technologies.
Neurobiology of food addiction
Cíbiková, Sofia Anna ; Novotný, Jiří (advisor) ; Petríková, Ivana (referee)
This work deals with food addiction, mainly its neurobiological basis. The fact that highly processed food high in calories can have effects similar to those of addictive substances has been known for decades, however with the rapidly increasing prevalence of obesity in the last few years, there is more and more research being done in this area. Food addiction very often correlates with obesity and eating disorders, such as binge eating disorder, and naturally has a negative impact on the health of an increasing number of people. Excessive consumption of highly caloric foods causes changes in the neural pathways in the brain, especially those connected to dopamine and the reward system which, similarly to substance use disorders, leads to addiction, which manifests itself in loss of control over the consumption, developed tolerance and withdrawal symptoms. Stress together with various mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety are often factors contributing to the development of addiction. Understanding the similarities between food addiction and substance use disorders can be beneficial for finding an appropriate treatment. Cognitive intervention and therapeutic methods seem to be the most effective, on the other hand strict diets and efforts to make major lifestyle changes often bring...
Assesment of air concentration in water depending on pressure
Uttendorfský, Petr ; Himr, Daniel (referee) ; Pochylý, František (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with air concentration in the water. The general conception comes from Henry's law about gas dissolved in the liquids depending on pressure. The basic derivation, the values which influence dissolvability and the Henry's Law constant´s forms are discussed here. Next part is about the usage aeration in the industry and in the construction of aeration systems. The special equipment is for realization experiment. This special equipment is gas´s accumulator based. The measured values are expressed as the tables and the graphs. The data from experiment validated the force of Henry´s Law: with growing pressure above water level, the air concentration in the water is growing too.
Determination of the cost of construction in difficult condition
Kleinerová, Jana ; Aigel, Petr (referee) ; Výskala, Miloslav (advisor)
Thesis is dedicated to analysis and determination of secondary budget expenses. There is described distribution and expenses are analyzed in detail. The second part covers analysis of what factors can influence expenses. And at last there are reckoned secondary budget expenses for particular cases.
Assessment of the effect of origin and the fraction of coarse aggregate for flexibility and durability of structural concrete
Hanuš, Petr ; Žalud, Oldřich (referee) ; Vymazal, Tomáš (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with influence of origin and fraction of rough aggregate on the durability and elasticity of structural concrete. As a criterion of durability, the frost resistance of concrete is monitored. In the theoretical part describes the types of aggregates, which are used in structural concretes. In addition, test methods are described to determine the elasticity and durability of concrete according to the test standards valid in the czech republic. In the experimental part of the thesis, seven concretes of the same consistency and strength were designed and mixed, which differed using different types of coarse aggregate. A change in elasticity during freezing cycles was observed
Analysis accessory costs of budget in depending on the elementary costs of budget.
Studený, Marek ; Výskala, Miloslav (referee) ; Aigel, Petr (advisor)
The thesis deals with question of dependence accessory costs of budget on a elementary costs of budget. There is describe structure both kind of costs and then it is division to elementary parts. Next, there are identified their influencing factors. At the end of my thesis are costing real objects and is concluded there doesn´t exist a dependence between both costs.
Dependence of the value of the construction enterprise on the size of the equity
Bahenský, Miloš ; Kocmanová, Alena (referee) ; Špirková,, Daniela (referee) ; Korytárová, Jana (advisor)
The doctoral thesis deals with the valuer issues of business valuation with construction production in the condition of the Czech economy. The business valuation issue is, and will always be, highly relevant in a market economy environment, with regard to both methodical and practical approaches. The main aim of the doctoral thesis is to demonstrate the dependence constructing empirical regression model to determine the value of the construction enterprise by the chosen income valuation method based on the equity (book value of equity in historical costs). The first part of the doctoral thesis is a research study describing the approach of the authors to the current state of knowledge concerning the issues of business valuation, aspects of equity, using the principles of system methodology. Based on these findings, a space is defined in which it is possible to propose a solution of a partial problem in terms of selecting the enterprise value category and the associated income valuation methods suitable for extensive time-series analysis. An integral part of the doctoral thesis is the determination of the sample size of construction enterprises according to the assumptions and limitations of the chosen methodology. Empirical research for data collection is based on Justice.cz database. Another important part is, in the spirit of system approach principles, the choice and application of the method of system discipline for the solved problem of doctoral thesis. The result of the solution is an empirical regression model, which after subsequent validation in multiple case studies could also be recommended for wider verification in valuers practice. Part of the thesis will also include discussions in the wider context of the potential benefits of the doctoral thesis for practical, theoretical and pedagogical use.
Measurement of calibration inductance parameters
Martišek, Jiří ; Fialka, Jiří (referee) ; Šedivá, Soňa (advisor)
This thesis deals with the problem of measuring the properties of coils and their inductance dependence on frequency under the influence of an external magnetic field. The theoretical analysis of the properties, parameters and behaviour of the coils is included. Furthermore, the theoretical part describes the measurement methods and instruments for measuring coils and their parameters. The third chapter is devoted to the Caliber program from Meatest, s.r.o., which can be used to automate both calibration and measurement. The practical part describes the selection of the coil measurement method, the selection of the tested commercial coils and the creation of the procedure in the Caliber program. The rest of the thesis describes the measurement procedure, processing of the measured values and evaluation of the measured results.
German energy policy towards Russia after the annexation of Crimea
Etrych Goldscheidová, Jana ; Nigrin, Tomáš (advisor) ; Handl, Vladimír (referee)
This work deals with reasons why Germany have not seen, or rather have not wanted to see, Russia as a dictatorial regime, with which Germany have been building dependent energy relations for decades threatening Germany's energy security. The aim of the work is to reveal motives of democratic Germany leading to energy dependence on an authoritarian country. The work analyzes German-Russian relations, which had been started during the Cold War as part of Brandt's Ostpolitik and strengthened regardless of political parties and wars provoked by Russians in Chechnya, Georgia and Ukraine, as well as by extorting of customer countries when disagreement with Russian international policy. The first chapter looks at Germany from a perspective of an international actor, because unhealthy relationships lead to the limitation of democratic decision-making in domestic and foreign policy, which was evidenced by Germany's reserved attitude to the war in Ukraine 2022. The next chapter explores the length and depth of German-Russian relations. Under heavy lobbying, Schröder pushed for close ties between German and Russian energy industries for a purpose of the economic prosperity of Germany and himself. Although after the annexation of Crimea in 2014, Germany's rhetoric towards Russia was harsh and Germany declared...
