Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou politické komunikace a sebeprezentace vybraných předsedů politických stran/hnutí v Poslanecké sněmovně na sociálních sítích Instagram a Facebook. Sledované období v této práci představují dva měsíce před volbami do Poslanecké sněmovny Parlamentu České republiky, tedy 8. 8. - 8. 10. 2021. Vybranými předsedy jsou za vládnoucí strany Ivan Bartoš (Pirátská strana) a za opoziční strany Tomio Okamura (hnutí Svobodná a přímá demokracie). Cílem bakalářské práce je aplikovat výzkumný problém: Prolínání osobní a oficiální politické komunikace skrze sociální sítě vede k dominanci osobnosti v politické komunikaci, což směřuje k personalizaci, sebeprezentaci, celebritizaci a emocionalizaci.
Essays on political careers in the Czech Republic
Škvrňák, Michael ; Linek, Lukáš (advisor) ; Kouba, Karel (referee) ; Maškarinec, Pavel (referee)
This dissertation focuses on political careers in the Czech Republic. The in- troductory part of the dissertation presents several approaches for describing and explaining the development of political careers, ranging from the theory of rational choice through biographical approaches to an institutional view of the careers. After the theoretical introduction, four empirical chapters fol- low. They focus on particular aspects related to political careers. The first describes the candidate selection process in the Czech Pirate Party before the 2020 regional election and the 2021 parliamentary election and explains the success of individual nominees by their position within the party, personal at- tributes and political experience. This chapter uses the supply and demand model of candidate selection. The second empirical chapter focuses on local politics, specifically on the incumbency advantage. It shows that if a munici- pality publishes a municipal newsletter, incumbents, especially mayors, benefit from it. The following chapter focuses on coalition formation in Czech munici- palities, which is a process that determines which party will fill a mayor's office. The chapter shows that besides standard aspects of coalition formation, social capital of elected deputies plays a role in the process. In particular,...

Drobil, Ondřej ; Dvořák, Tomáš (advisor) ; Škvrňák, Michael (referee)
DROBIL, Ondřej. (De)politizace v přímé demokracii: Případová studie místního referenda v ČR. Praha, 2021. 61 s. Bakalářská práce (Bc). Univerzita Karlova, Fakulta sociálních věd, Institut sociologických studií, Katedra sociologie. Vedoucí diplomové práce Mgr. Tomáš Dvořák, Ph.D. Abstract This interdisciplinary thesis deals with the processes of politicisation and depoliticisation in direct democracy. It aims to shed light on how (de)politicisation manifests itself at the level of the referendum actors' utterances and how actors use these strategies during the referendum to reproduce or change the existing ordering of the political space. The research is based on the concept of (de)politicisation as a form of political action and the premise that by the use of language as an instrument of symbolic power, one can shape the social reality. Based on the analysis of statements made by actors of a referendum held in Pilsen in 2013 and by applying critical discourse analysis approach, the following findings were made: At the level of language use, (de)politicisation occurs firstly in the sense of a shift between spheres of action or their hierarchization, through the use of a specific syntactic and semantic sentence structure, and secondly in the sense of forming of necessity or action contingency, through the use...
30 years later - analysis of metaphors of development and transformation of Czech society in the period between 1989-2019
Barták, Tomáš ; Císař, Ondřej (advisor) ; Škvrňák, Michael (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the analysis of metaphors constructed by important actors of the Velvet Revolution and the subsequent period of political and social transformation between 1989-2019 from interviews with two Czech Television programs (Interview ČT24 and Události, komentáře). The aim of the bachelor thesis is to describe the existing variability of discourse and arguments to the followed period from the point of view of important actors in relation to metaphors as a discursive means and to find out what significant events the speakers refer to. The bachelor thesis has an interpretive character and therefore does not test the hypothesis. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the interpretation of the theory of social transformation and the concept of the so-called catching-up revolutions according to Jürgen Habermas and also with the interpretation of social and political divisions in a democratic society. The thesis then provides an overview of current research knowledge on the interpretation of the discourse on the events of 1989 and the transformation period and their interpretation. In the analytical part of the text, 10 categories of metaphors are explained through the analysis of metaphors and thematic analysis, which frame the observed statements of speakers into...
