Analysis of bilirubin's relevant photoproducts and their biological significance in the issue of neonatal jaundice
Křepelka, David ; Kozlík, Petr (advisor) ; Zelenka, Jaroslav (referee)
Neonatal jaundice occurs in almost 60% of full-term and 80% of premature babies, where a slightly increased concentration of bilirubin protects against oxidative stress just after birth. When a specific bilirubin level is exceeded in serum (usually above 340 µmol·l-1 ), bilirubin-could induce kernicterus. These negative states are prevented by blue-green light phototherapy (420-510 nm), which converts bilirubin into more polar photoproducts that are more easily excreted via bile and/or urine. Published data have shown that newborns with indicated phototherapy may develop clinical problems later in life (higher incidence of e.g. asthma, allergies, type 1 diabetes was observed at a later age). A possible reason for the occurrence of these diseases is the specific biological activity of photoproducts. This study aims to purify an unknown photoproduct (band P), formed after 8 hours of irradiation of a bilirubin solution with blue light, and to establish a quantitative analytical method for its measurement in relevant matrices. This product was isolated and separated by a thin layer and subsequent column flash chromatography. In the next part, an LC-MS/MS method was developed for quantification of band P. Finally, urine, plasma, and feces samples collected from 15 newborns before and after phototherapy...
The influence of "Sachsenspiegel" and the ministerial law of Magdeburg to the implementation of the feudal system by the bishop of Olomouc Bruno of Schauenburg
Frigyik, Dávid ; Izdný, Jakub (advisor) ; Zelenka, Jan (referee)
The goal of this thesis is to inquire into the influence of both the ministerial law of the archbishop of Magdeburg and the feudal law included in "Sachsenspiegel", which are the projected model law systems to the feudal law of the bishopric of Olomouc, on the feudal law of the bishopric during the episcopacy of Bruno of Schauenburg on the basis of the preserved episcopal feudal charters. The student will define their similarities and differences with special regard to the matter of the independent development and specifics of the feudal law of the bishopric in its early stage. The sources for this thesis primarily consist of the original sources, which are either compiled in editions or are digitally available, and relevant domestic and foreign academic literature. Key words: 13th Century, bishopric of Olomouc, feudal law, ministerial law, Sachsenspiegel
Development of crystal structure of (Er,Lu)2(Ti,Zr)2O7 materials
Zelenka, Jiří ; Klicpera, Milan (advisor) ; Kaštil, Jiří (referee)
The present thesis is focused on the development of a crystal structure of A2B2O7 materials, where A is a rare-earth element and B is a transition metal. These materials crystalize generally in four crystallography structures. The thesis is focused on structural transitions from an ordered cubic structure, so-called pyrochlore structure, to a fully disordered cubic structure, so-called defect- fluorite structure, to semi-ordered rhombohedral structure. Compared to previous studies, which dealt with these structural changes in A2Zr2O7 with the substitution of the rare-earth element, this thesis is focused on evolution of structure with a substitution on the B positions. For this research of the crystal structure evolution two series of oxides, Er2(Ti,Zr)2O7 and Lu2(Ti,Zr)2O7, have been selected. Twenty-one samples of those series were prepared by the floating zone method and Czochralski method. Analysis of prepared crystals was performed by using the Laue diffraction method and the powder diffraction methods. For the study, X-ray and neutron diffraction were utilized. A quality of the prepared materials and their crystal structure were studied with the respect to a concentration of Ti-Zr. The development of the crystal structure has been discussed. The thesis will serve as a ground for following research of...
Richard III - historical construct. Comparison of selected literature.
Štěpová, Hana ; Zelenka, Jan (advisor) ; Drška, Václav (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the English monarch Richard III., the last king of England of the Plantagenet dynasty. The thesis presents discursive analysis of selected literature of English and American provenance, focusing on the research of Richard III. and creating its own historical constructs. Such historical construct is in the given context understood as the author's interpretation of proven and verified facts, whether with an imaginary positive or negative evaluation label. These constructs differ significantly in the case of Richard III. The thesis is trying to find out whether these differences may be related to Richard's alleged physical deformation, one of Richard's frequently mentioned physical attributes, and consequently whether the authors of analysed literature let themselves be influenced by subliminal prejudices connected to the perception of physical differences or physical handicaps. The findings of this analysis are then compared using the comparative method. The thesis then uses the results of this comparison to answer the main research question - does alleged fact of physical disability have an impact on historical interpretations of Richard III.? Key words England, Richard III., Anne Neville, Edward IV., duke of Clarence, War of the Roses, Titulus Regius, disability
The problem of succession in norman and Angevin England(1066-1216) in narrative sources of the 12th and the beginning of the 13th century
Malý, Jan ; Drška, Václav (advisor) ; Bláhová, Marie (referee) ; Zelenka, Jan (referee)
The dissertation is focused on the problem of succession to the royal throne of England in the period from the accession of William the Conqueror in 1066 to the death of King John in 1216. This topic is studied from the point of view of narrative sources written mostly in the 12th and the beginning of the 13th century. The goal of this thesis is to follow the making of the image of succession in England and to find some tendencies of development regarding the approach to the accession to the throne in these narrative sources through its analysis and comparison. The core of this work is made by the analysis of Angevin narrative sources, contextualized by the study of other works which influenced the emergence of Angevin texts and the forming of their authors' opinions and views.
Christianization of the British Isles: comparison of the selected aspects of the Hiberno-Scottish and the Gregorian mission
Pecková, Tereza ; Suchánek, Drahomír (advisor) ; Zelenka, Jan (referee)
The diploma thesis "Christianization of the British Isles: comparison of selected aspects of the Hiberno-Scottish and the Gregorian mission" deals with the period when the Christianization of the British Isles took place and focuses specifically on the history of the Hiberno-Scottish and Gregorian missions, their organization, key figures and customs. Irish Christianity developed in an environment different from the European mainland, and over time it thus gained its own specifics and many differences in both church organization and the overall administration of the church, as well as in liturgy or in church art. The main aim of this thesis is primarily to compare aspects of monasticism, church organization and liturgy of both missions and church organizations built by them, with which the author would like to determine the role of the Hiberno-Scottish mission in Christianization of the British Isles and define the uniqueness of Irish Christianity. The author also focuses on the mutual relations between the two missions and their clash, which culminated in 664 at the Whitby Synod. The complementary aim of the thesis is to analyse the mutual relations of the Hiberno-Scottish and Gregorian missions with secular power.
Comparison of Czech and French security policies in Mali
Zelenka, Jan ; Doboš, Bohumil (advisor) ; Rosendorf, Ondřej (referee)
Thesis Comparation of the Czech and the French security policy in Mali elaborates Czech and French foreign policy analysis in Mali. Main focus explores their reaction on security threats, especially international islamist terrorism. Thesis rests on Foreign policy analysis (FPA) methodology, that examines genesis and evolution of foreign policy while analysing government documents, security reports and statements of government and army officials. Research regards rational choice theory as its main theoretical background, this theory is based on neorealism and rationalism in international relations. Supporting theory is a normative approach of responsibility to protect. Thesis introduces security policies of the Czech Republic and France, defines their domestic and external circumstances, and describes application of these policies during a military intervention in Mali. Both actors in Mali participate on operations Barkhane and Takuba and cooperate on missions EUTM Mali or OSN MINUSMA. Objective of this thesis is to deliver a complex comparative analysis of security policies and to present a definition of major motives of intervening actors.
